  1. The track was wet before the start, and visibility was deteriorating all the time. The decision to have a tractor break after heat 4 probably scuppered any chance of getting a result.
  2. Some wet stuff on the way. Any updates will be appreciated.
  3. I was surised it was on yesterday, with a lions meeting scheduled for tonight.
  4. Looks a very good line up at Eastie. I might be tempted if the rain stays away.
  5. I must say, I've never seen the launch pad looking so sad. A far cry from my first visit, way back in 1972.
  6. The problem is, that joe public doesn't think that 15 minutes of 'entertainment' is worth 20 quid. Run the main event for those that want a quick get away, and put on some motocross for those that want their money's worth.
  7. I went to about 12 meetings at the shay. It was a bit like Exeter with the steel fence, but shorter straights. I always enjoyed going there.
  8. Todays meeting at Peterborough is my 4th rain off of the Easter break. Tomorrow at rye or Kent will probably be my 5th. The weekend must have been a financial disaster for some clubs.
  9. Tomorrow at Peterborough is my 4th rain off of the Easter break. I fully expect Kent or rye to be my 5th.
  10. I'd much rather an early call off. Trying to beat the weather with people inside the stadium does no one any favours.
  11. The place was a tip before the motocross circuit was put in.
  12. I'd much rather an early call off. Trying to beat the weather with people inside the stadium does no one any favours.
  13. Definitely not West ham. The original pits bend never had any glass enclosures. I reckon it is harringay.
  14. It's gonna be a financial disaster for clubs if there is an Easter wash out.
  15. Kent v Eastbourne is off on good Friday, because of the weather!
  16. You make some very valid points. I also think that the regular weekday race night will prove a problem to some fans, Me included!
  17. Not being a rye fan, the publicity side of things doesn't really bother me. As a paying punter, I would like to see a well run meeting with some decent racing on a well prepared track. Just like I saw at Peterborough on Sunday night, is that too much to ask.
  18. It was one of lens biggest mistakes letting Doyle go. It was a real 'Gerald Ratner' moment for rye as a club.
  19. The tapes were the standard type at Peterborough last night.
  20. You are not alone in feeling this way about rye, there are quite a few of us in the same boat. The lack of urgency in running meetings is a major irritant to me, along with the one line race track that has developed over the last couple of years. I enjoyed it more when Len was running the show!
  21. The. Whole set up at rye has a 'take it or leave it' feel about it. If it's a repeat of last seasons 'racing' on concrete, I will be leaving it.
  22. Bloody freezing at the shabby Abbey last night. Still, a visit to the back straight bogs made it all worthwhile!
