I could never understand why reading never upgraded smallmead stadium instead of selling it off. The new Swindon proposals sound ideal, if they happen.

Being a Wimbledon fan, Romford was never an option for me. The night I went the dons were away at Sheffield!
-
I only went to Romford once, my dad took me to see the Czechs there in 1970. I did see a few of the bombers matches at west ham in 1972.

Looks like a meeting for the derby and Joan club!

So is prostitution!

I'd stick with the sandwiches if I was you!

Cook has stated, that lakeside are leaving it in the hands of the ACU. Do they have authority over the SCB ?

It's definitely going to be a lot harder for me to get to rye on a Wednesday night. Apart from 2000, the rockets have always been a weekend track. No doubt attendances will suffer.

All topics divert a little, it's not the end of the world , is it?

Eddie Reeves was one of the first riders I can recall wearing a full face helmet.

I was catching the 220 bus, door to door from south west London.

What a stadium, it still pulls at the heart strings!

The Sweeney episode that featured the speedway was called 'May'. The last time I saw this on TV, the speedway scenes had been edited out. Apparently this is common practice to shorten the episodes to accommdate the longer add breaks. Luckily I have the original version on DVD.

The houses were very close to the stadium at Romford, but no different to Exeter or West Ham. The noise from the bikes were a lot louder in those days.

No thanks. I needed the info to put the names to a couple of race jackets from the meeting. I went to most of the meetings at the wick in 87, but missed the simmo testimonial.

Thanks a lot.

There's been a speedway housing estate on the site of West ham's custom house stadium for over 40 years. I still get a tear in my eye on the rare occasion I drive past it!

Good 1.) My old man taking me to Wembley and West ham for league racing on a regular basis. 2.) My four all time speedway heroes. Olle nygren, Ronnie Moore, Christer lofqvist & Tommy Jansson. 3.) Speedway every night of the week in the south east 4.) England v USA at Wimbledon in 1980. My best ever meeting. 5.) Seeing peter Collins and Chris Morton win the world pairs final at Lonigo in 1984. Bad 1.) Tommy Jansson's death in 1976. The last of my speedway heroes. 2.) The demise of speedway in London. 3.) Being present at three fatal speedway crashes. 4.) The closure of wimbledon speedway twice in 1991 & 2005. 5.) The immnent demolition of Wimbledon stadium. The flame will finally go out for my beloved Dons.

Farewell Brandon - A Video Fly By

A very sad and touching film that many of us ex fans of defunct clubs can relate to. -
More likely to turn up in their hundreds. It will be interesting to see how many of the rye deserters return to the fold.

Wembley was never a great track for racing in my era, far too narrow and difficult to pass. Although peter Collins was the most entertaining rider I've seen there. I went to most of the league matches at wembley in the early 1970's, big crowds at a historic venue. As a kid it all seemed fantastic in those days!

Any news on the rye race night for next season.
