  1. Shanes is a poor starter. Being quick out of the gate is essential at a track like rye.
  2. Southend dog track was a purpose built speedway stadium bankrolled by the cearns family, but the sport was never staged there. Noise complaints from local residents was the main reason for the bikes never getting started there.
  3. I'm under 65, so I should be entitled to a concession admission price. I felt like a youngster at rye last night!
  4. Some excellent racing at the NNS yesterday morning. The Bahamas like conditions gave me a perfect suntan. Thanks Manchester!
  5. I thought the crowd was pretty decent compared to the last two meetings at rye. The track offers nothing on the inside, and the only line is around the boards. You can get good racing at rye, but a new track curator is desperately needed to achieve this.
  6. Exactly. Rye v Lynn tonight, live on TV, no iversen & full price admission. Interesting to see how many turn up.
  7. Wait till the football world cup starts. The promoters might as well shut the sport down for the duration of the tournament.
  8. Missing riders making a mockery of the sport. What else is new.
  9. Ayres is pretty dominant on the island, from the gate or from the back. Let's hope this meeting avoids the wet stuff currently on the south coast.
  10. A poor crowd on a cold evening. Racing wise, it was the best meeting of the season at rye.
  11. I've done twenty meetings this season, so I'm definitely not ex!
  12. That makes three of us going Mike. Far too early for me to make a decision about going to the island.
  13. Possibly the lowest home crowd of the BMR era, who would bet against it.
  14. Too many speedway fans get accused of being negative, when they are only stating the facts.
  15. Ben's move to the IOW has really helped him move up a grade this season.
  16. I would say 1500 PL, 1000 CL and 500 NL. I doubt that many tracks are getting those numbers on a regular basis.
  17. There were very good crowds at mildenhall yesterday and Kent tonight. So it's not all doom and gloom.
  18. We can all dream of well run meetings, but for most tracks it's just pie in the sky. Rye House started late on Monday, after numerous junior races before the advertsed start time. Every unessecary delay puts off a few more punters, that the sport can't afford to lose.
  19. The sport has survived in this country without fixed race nights since 1928. The top riders will never return, because the clubs finances won't allow it. Speedway might have to suffer the doubling up dilemma, rather than tracks going bust.
  20. The royal wedding, followed by the FA cup final, and lakeside v Edinburgh. Plenty of reasons not to run a challenge match at Eastbourne this Saturday. I will be heading to Arena with a few other Arlington regulars.
