  1. If a rider aims to reach the top of his profession, he should be able to ride any track. The likes of Adams, Crump & Ward were brilliant at arena.
  2. I watch speedway regularly at all three levels, and crowds are down across the board. Not all of this can be blamed on fixed race nights. The product and the facilities are generally poor, and don't represent value for money anymore. I paid £21 including prog to watch a dust bowl at Poole last night, was it worth it, not in my opinion.
  3. I have to agree, the track was poor last night. Underwatered and very patchy, with too much dry loose material on the outside, which caught out a few of the riders. As a neutral it was my first visit of the season to poole, so I have no axe to grind.
  4. Big home win I reckon. Lakeside must be the toughest away track to visit.
  5. It's been an absolute disaster for one of my local tracks, Rye house. Since giving up their Saturday race night, their crowds have plummeted. The end of the season can't come soon enough for some clubs.
  6. It's hard to see how much longer the sport can survive in its current form. No wonder the fans are leaving in their droves.
  7. A simple race card for a pound would be sufficient. Similar to what Coventry produce this season.
  8. It's a shame Alfie couldn't be signed as an addition to hopwood.
  9. Is that down to spedeworth?
  10. The situation at Oxford is very similar. Just sit back and watch the place fall down. A compulsory purchase would cost a fortune, without the additional repairs and refurbishment. Speedway and dog racing are two sports on their knees, you would have to be a lunatic to invest in such a project.
  11. Why would the developers hand over Brandon when they can play the long game. They can leave it derelict for years, just like Cradley, Powderhall and long Eaton. The best hope for the bees is finding a new site.
  12. The NL cannot continue in its current form. The weaker clubs are teetering on the brink, and the bigger clubs carry on regardless. Too many lop sided matches have put a lot of fans off attending meetings.
  13. The 1970's was certainly a golden era for me. Four top flight tracks in london, who would believe it!
  14. It was a walk in the park for Eastie last night, but the island are not alone in being weak at the moment. There are are a few sides struggling in the NL this year, which is no good for the home promotion or those away tracks they visit. Big home wins do more damage than good in the long term.
  15. This crap has BSPA written all over it. I can't believe someone else thought of it first!
  16. Well at Kent last night, I had a late start, an overwatered track, riders arriving late, numerous crashes, multiple reruns, air fence delays, a clueless start Marshall and a referee that had clearly lost the plot. I hope tonight runs a lot better.
  17. Why run more speedway meetings in this country, when every event loses money. The gate has been left open for far too long, and the horse has long since departed!
  18. I would imagine, surviving till the end of the season will be more important to the promoters than tweaking the team at this present time.
  19. The clock is ticking to save the the sport in this country. The problem is, no one has the balls to stop it.
  20. Poole nearly closed In the mid 1980's, so no club is immune to the grim reaper. Every track in the country must be feeling the pinch, how many of them survive is another matter.
