  1. The British public just don't want to go to speedway anymore, it's as simple as that. There is nothing the promoters can do to stop the trend. Most clubs must be hanging on by their fingertips. At lakeside last night, yet another poor crowd turned up to watch an excellent hammers side, probably the best they have had in a few years. On a sunny Saturday evening, The fans still won't go.
  2. The way the sport is going, there won't be a next season for some tracks.
  3. Poor meeting tonight, raced in front of a poor crowd. Every track I go to seems to be suffering from falling attendances. The british public look to have deserted the sport.
  4. It's a shame this clashes with Eastie v mildenhall tonight. I would like to have done both meetings.
  5. I'm not defending stoke in any way, but quite a few tracks have struggled to get decent shale this season. Poole, Somerset & The IOW are three that spring to mind.
  6. Eastbourne, Kent & Rye house should all be in the championship for different reasons. What great local derbies we would have, if they were.
  7. Should have snapped up Bowtell before he moved to the island. What about George Hunter, or has he retired.
  8. I reckon the losses will be a lot more than 30k at numerous tracks by the end of the season.
  9. Remember me squeezing that air horn Steve, when Barbara was sitting in front of you. She got the right hump with you!
  10. Wimbledon hardly ever run coach trips to the boulevard. The only one I can remember was on royal wedding day in 1981. My previous visit was by train.
  11. To be honest, with the awful crowd levels at rye this season. I'm surprised the plug wasn't pulled after the Lynn TV meeting.
  12. Vasey wasn't team manager at Kent a couple of weeks ago.
  13. Kent's performance on Saturday did no favours to Eastbourne's business. Plenty of fans left early, and who can blame them. I can't remember a worse display from a visiting team at Arlington, and that's saying something.
  14. Still madness to run against England on what is not your regular race night. Why force fans into making a choice.
  15. Football is a religion to most fans, they would turn up if kick off was at 3am in the morning!
  16. I have to agree. When I was a kid I regularly went to west ham and white city on a school night. The majority of the nation are turning into couch potatoes. I blame the digital age!
  17. Many moons ago, Milton Keynes got kicked out of the league for similar scenarios like stoke are serving up on a weekly basis.
  18. Cyril was a very sociable chap. I had a few nice chats with him about his racing days on my visits to Newport, a real Gentleman. RIP Cyril.
  19. An awful performance from a poorly assembled team, that definitely needs some surgery.
  20. No curfew to my knowledge, The traffic outside is louder than the bikes!
  21. The latest finish at lakeside for many years. The last one was a double header against stoke and Peterborough that went past the 11.30 Mark. With an 8pm start, any delays are going to be felt more. I stuck it out to the end, but I'm feeling it this morning.
