  1. Oxford might have a chance, if someone can be found to take it on. Who would though, when the sport is on it's last legs.
  2. I've no sympathy for the current 'management'. It's the fans i feel sorry for, they are the big losers. Promoters and riders can move on. For some people it's a lifetime of support for a club. As an Arlington regular, I'm devastated by the news.
  3. So it's official, the Eagles have gone. Another huge blow for us fans in the South East, following on from the recent demise of Lakeside and Rye House. I really will miss my Saturday nights in Sussex by the sea.
  4. You have to subscribe to it. Derek Barclay, the press officer will sort you out.
  5. The outside of the bends had been roughed up, creating too much loose material. The tractors were removing the excess shale, levelling and tyre packing.
  6. The track last last night was by far the worst it's been this season. On a perfect summers day, there must be a reason for this. I've seen no comments on the conditions by riders or management.
  7. Newcastle showed some fight at Kent last night, despite being depleted and the track being dodgy, to say the least. Hopefully it will be a decent meeting for those fans going.
  8. The track was poor to start with. The riders didn't want to ride. After numerous track inspections we finally got underway at 6.50. It resembled a concrete bowl on the inside and a ploughed field outside. No tractor breaks could remedy the situation, so it was a dust bowl. With such a large crowd present, i was relieved that it wasn't abandoned.
  9. Top post. I'm lucky enough to be able to get to Kent on a Tuesday night, but after last nights farce, i do question my sanity sometimes.
  10. Len was there. He didn't seem too keen on coming down from his perch.
  11. Farcical scenes at Kent tonight. The track looked rough before the start and clearly the riders were unhappy with it. At one stage i thought the meeting was going to be called off. The final straw was letting the kids go out on a tricky surface, which resulted in a tumble for one of the youngsters. A poor advert for the sport, which would have put off any first timers.
  12. Monday. This coming weekend was meant to be their Northern tour.
  13. Stock cars on bank holiday Monday. The place will be packed to the rafters.
  14. I do a similar Journey from Surrey, but i try to make a day of it now, with a non league football match in the afternoon.
  15. Fair points. My relationship with speedway has changed post lockdown. I will continue to support my two local tracks, Eastbourne and Kent, but apart from the odd trip, i don't do the miles anymore. Maybe it's an age thing, but i don't have the enthusiasm like i used to.
  16. My remark was tongue in cheek. Eastbourne are in dire straits and I'm expecting the worse. The situation at Birmingham and Newcastle is different. The fans rallied and tried successfully to raise funds. At Arlington there has been no such response. Maybe the will isn't there, who knows. The silence has been deafening from both sides of the fence. Hopefully miracles do happen and we get a positive outcome tomorrow.
  17. Being the only stand alone NDL track, Mildenhall were given this meeting to pad out their short season.
  18. No problem for the British youngsters to ride on a saturated track in Germany a couple of weeks ago.
