  1. I went to the IOW tonight. The track was a bit tricky early doors, but the riders just got on with it. After the first tractor grade it was fine. It does seem to be a different sport at NL level.
  2. Very good meeting on the island tonight, with some excellent overtaking by Ayres and Bailey. A big well done to Tony Steele for allowing the meeting to go ahead after the red lights had failed. Three refs overseeing one meeting, must be a first at NL level.
  3. The riders pull the strings in this country, it's as simple as that.
  4. They were lucky to have the opportunity to put things right, after a wet start.
  5. Too right, the best summer since 1976, and the promoters have wasted it.
  6. The fixed race nights should never have been implemented in a world cup year. It's nothing new for speedway fixtures to be cancelled due to the football. Poor planning in my opinion.
  7. The thing is, a lot of people's thoughts were with the passing of the late Bob Dugard. Paying tribute to Bob was far more important than new fence panels.
  8. It was so long since the last home meeting, I can't remember what the old fence looked like!
  9. I'm with you Mike, no one mentioned it.
  10. Len pulling the plug early worked well for me, it gave me time to go to Poole instead. It was good to see an improved crowd at iwade on Sunday, despite the threat of rain throughout the meeting.
  11. I was at the meeting last night. The racing was ok with a few passes, which is standard fare at most tracks these days. The match itself was very hard fought. The crowd was ok for an off night, and as a neutral I enjoyed it.
  12. I was there. 1980 grand prix final at Wimbledon. Those were the days!.
  13. Eastbourne should be in a higher league, but I doubt it will ever happen.
  14. Andrews was excellent at Kent on Monday as well. He provided great entertainment in both meetings.
  15. Five out of the last six Coventry 'home' meetings have been called off!
  16. He might be referring to 'ginger beer' as in Cockney rhyming slang.
  17. Decent meeting tonight. Plymouth battled hard with limited resources.
  18. If Eastbourne called tonight off Mike, that would be almost two months without a home meeting. The NL has definitely turned into the poor relation of British speedway.
  19. Weather not looking brilliant for this one.
  20. The slow death started when Wembley was lost in 1981.
  21. Just checked the radar. That is some storm, it would never have been on.
  22. I was at Kent on Monday, and it certainly was a bizarre situation. It reminded me of being at Eastbourne when Kelly Moran was a little worse for wear.
  23. The rainfall radar i use is netweather. It is excellent and is updated every five minutes.
  24. Next Friday is a blank date, but it won't happen. Scunny are at home.
