  1. I will always take a chance with local tracks in dodgy weather, but last night was never going to be on, despite what the club said. Modern technology is a wonderful thing. I can see the live rainfall radar, why can't they.
  2. To open the turnstiles when the meeting is in doubt, is bad enough. To then send the kids out to test the track, while the senior riders stay in the pits is a disgrace. To try and get the last two home meetings on, despite dreadful forecasts, has done more damage to the club, who seem determined not to race on off nights.
  3. With the next home league match scheduled for the 14/9. It looks like 2 home fixtures won't get run before the cut off date. What a shambles of a season this is. I can't remember a worse one.
  4. Should have pulled the plug earlier. Apparently the 'senior' riders had no intention of riding. I stayed outside waiting for the inevitable, ive seen it all before. Plenty of people demanding their money back afterwards.
  5. Let's hope so. It's getting increasingly difficult to find any speedway to watch in the South East. At least Len still stages regular meetings at Kent.
  6. All the time the present incumbents are still on site, the track will remained unlicensed. The stadium ownership is the biggest obstacle to overcome, if professional Speedway is to be staged there again.
  7. It depends what forecast you are looking at. The BBC looks reasonable, but the met office is pretty grim. I just hate these type of days, last Friday was lovely, but no meeting.
  8. Backtrack and speedway stop press are the only 2 publications I still collect. Stop press was a London track fanzine published between 1969 - 72. My formative years in the sport, when I was just cutting my speedway teeth!
  9. He's not going to admit that the new stadium is never going to be built, that would be bad for his business. Everything will be positive, until the bulldozers move in. Stadia UK will get all the flak if it don't happen, not TR.
  10. Pretty poor line ups for an important meeting. Double R/R and guests is a downer for those fans attending.
  11. Tomorrow, after what seems like an eternity, Lakeside attempt to stage a home meeting against Newcastle. It should be a win for the Hammers. Let's hope the weather gods are kind to us fans hoping to attend.
  12. Flat track racing has nothing to do with speedway. They are not licenced by the SCB as far as I'm aware.
  13. My first memory was when my dad took me to see Czechs ride at Romford in 1970. It was scary stuff watching the likes of Vaclav Verner ride inches away from the concrete safety wall at brooklands!
  14. The fact that these meetings at iwade are fully licensed events. Surely they should be listed in the official BSPA fixture list.
  15. I doubt it. There's a chance of a rain shower at 7pm!
  16. Only one or two. I reckon you could add a few more to that total. The whole sport is in freefall.
  17. Totally agree, it's just a shame his off track antics overshadowed his on track performances. He was a great team rider who could deliver on any track. Ronnie Moore was a naturally gifted motorcyclist, so was Michael Lee And Darcy Ward. Three great riders that made it look so easy.
  18. Gerald hasn't worked at lakeside for a while now. He's been at Rye house for the last couple of years.
  19. I've been a regular from the start in 1994. When some of my local tracks dropped down, it was no culture shock to me.
  20. The thing is mate, beggars can't be choosers. Recently it's been easier to find water in the Sahara than go to speedway in the South east. It is what it is at the moment. I'm up for an improvement in standards, but I'm not holding my breath.
