Hi f-s-p, you appear to be in the know on what to do in Tampere.
I fly in from Malaga on Friday lunchtime and fly back on Monday lunchtime. Any ideas on what to do, or should I say, suggestions on where to drink during our stay :-)
Thanks, I haven't read all the thread. Just asking because some sicko has posted the crash on youtube, edited the in-video header and called it 'Tomasz Gollob Fatal Crash' Swedish GP with todays date. My stomach sank !!!
Good spot ...... I found the info after searching in Google but didn't notice the date . Here's hoping for a decent venue in a decent town/city, where there's plenty to do between the play-off and final events
There is a mention of it being in Vojens on Sunday 3rd August (Unconfirmed on www.zapaday.com)
I really hope not as I went to the GP Qualifying Final Event a few years ago and it is in the middle of nowhere. 2 hours from Copenhagen, 2 hours from Hamburg
I think moving the British Final to Sheffield could be the answer to the comments about a rider getting home advantage.
I remember watching the Elite League Riders Championship at Sheffield (2001 I think) and it was a great meeting.
Many of the Elite League riders have ridden there at some point in their careers and the younger riders will have ridden there with the Premier League teams more recently. This should provide a 'neutral' track with some good racing.
I am sure the same could be said for a number of the current Premier League circuits.
Well.............. Team GB without Steady is not so amazing !!!
Was Middlo backed into a corner because of riders available at the British Final?
From an outsiders point of view, let's compare the GB Team to football players....
1. Harris - Steven Gerrard (Every club wants him)
2. Barker - Shows promise. (Plays for Stockport but looking for a move to a top 4 club Premiership club)
3. Bridger - (Flatters to deceive !!!) Tottenham
4. Kennett - Good season but still not good enough (Blackpool)
5. Woffinden - Quality recognised, better expected. (Liverpool)
This post is a bit of fun. Gutted GB couldn't make it tonight !!!
Absolutely !
I might be mistaken, but I'm not as I was there, but didn't Steady qualify for the GP Challenge Final last year ?!! Ok ok, he only scored 6 points but that is the level he is performing at.
World-beater he might not be but the level he is performing at is higher, in my opinion, than he is given credit for.
Completely agree regarding Steady at Monmore, I was disagreeing with the comment that Auty is as good as Steady.
Like you say, he hasn't ridden much this season and so really has no right to expect the wildcard, although many expected it.
Absolute nonsense !!!
Difficult start for Steady this year because of his injury but that said, I expect him to come back when fit and continue his form from last season.
Auty on the other hand is someone who is getting better, agreed, but as good as or if not better than Steady? I think not, still a long way to go until he is an established Elite League rider.
From where I was sat it looked as if he got stuffed on the 1st bend and that was that.
Although he looked very classy in front, there wasn't much passing during the meeting which would explain why he stayed at the back.
Looks to be a decent field next week.
Many of you planning to make the trip?
We are staying over in Vojens and will be attending 'Beach Party' on Saturday night if anyone else is fancies it, should be interesting !!!!
