Will Coventry Complete The Season?
abbo replied to Agrotron's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Another daft idea as if we haven't enough to concern ourselves about with Coventry Bees this idiotic site appears it's a bit like our speedway team failing rapidly!!!!!! -
Just come back from meeting at.Brandon club. MH confirmed that the initial agreement with Leicester if for 8 meetings. Little chance of return to Brandon this season As Sandhu and Brandon Estates are not talking and Brandon Estates refuse to co-operate with Sandhu at all. MH also told the audience that he is now aware would listen to offers to the sale of the Brandon Stadium, Sadlyl looks as though we are heading for exit. Very sad position and probably the low turn out of supporters at what is the most important meeting in this campaign My main point is that MH stresses Sandhu is still in love with Coventry Bees but sold it to Brandon Estates without an offer to MH or to someone who could have continued to pursue speedway and any other sporting activities. Sandhu sold it to Brandon Estates who MH said Sandhu knows. Nameless people who now who won't allow Sandhu access, strange???.

I now read all the excitement about season ticket charges beware buying season ticket will it be there at the end of the season. Sadly doubt it before you start praising Horton for his decision last season I didn't renew my2 season tickets. The actual saving at the start of the season was £5 save. By the end of the season supporters with ST were at a loss because of double headers, mixing Storm/Elite league meetings. He cut the concessions and when I took him on at Brandon Club his reply was that despite being the only Speedway club not allowing concessions other clubs would follow, this hasn't happened and in desperation Mr Horton has rescinded his decision. Although being Bees supporter I used to go to Birmingham. when they were in the Elite and it was obvious during those early months they wouldn't see the season out, they didn't!!. I hope this doesn't happen to the Bees but there had tone a solution to the ridiculous situation at Brandon otherwise the well intentioned supporters will wain in addition to those who have decided that they will not travel to Leicester unless there is the slightest chance that Speedway will return to the Coventry/Warwickshire area. There is NO indication that the three warring parties are going to change their stance and even if the Bees finish a season at Leicester what happens after that. Same as now no one knows. Shameful!!!!!

Reading Studland's post just about sums it all up. Excitement about the coach situation is understandable but one has to look at the long term, if they manage a season at Leicester (which I doubt will happen) what happens then Sandhu won't be providing finance for a new stadium. Assume they last the season will these posts still be performing, I doubt it people will be so fed up that Sandhu and the mysterious Brandon Estates will have got their way. Clearly they are prepared to take the Rugby Coucil on with their intent to develop the site for housing. They are prepared for the battle and show a complete arrogance by not replying to all the criticism's that are thrown their way. Clearly reading the recent posts they want vandalism at the stadium and will use that to pursue their aim's. I guess I will be criticised again for my views. I have already explained previously my loyalty to Coventry Bees and wish I didn't have to express my views but it's based on evidence,no good calling for Horton's head he will be gone and then there will be no promoter left to fight the battle. Sadly this season's viewing will be in front of the TVs.

At one of the supporters meetings it was agreed that the owners of the stadium would still have to business rates even if it was ant being used, if I remember correctly the figure was £150.000 per annum. Also if they wish to demolish the stadium they would have to obtain planning permission to do this. If I remember correctly the audience were told it would be highly unlikely to get that permission. If I am wrong perhaps someone could correct it.

I'm pleased that the rather obscene post to my contribution has been removed from the Forum. My post was from the heart as a long standing supporter of the Bees and that contribution was exactly what I expected. To put it bluntly we are on course for Bees last season, no sponsorship, no season ticket money and very disillusioned supporters who have tried through the last 3/4 months to get some sort of indication about the future of our club. No information forthcoming, no official statement of intent, hope I am wrong unless Brandon Estates enter the discussions we are finished. NOTHING from them during the discussions and whilst it stays like that there is no future at Brandon. I don't see how the club can exist at Leicester hope I'm wrong but without the intervention of Brandon Estates it's the end.

I'm still undecided about a weekly travel to Leicester 60 odd mile journey on the busiest evening in the week. If I seriously thought that there was any chance of return to Brandon I would have no second thoughts however there seems to be NO indications that the current owners of the stadium are likely to allow the return for Speedway or Stock cars. Another example of the mushroom syndrome took 4 months to reach the Leicester decision it's all a shambles and don't think they will last the season. Before all those supporters come to post about being disloyal etc I should point out that I have supported the Bees since 1948 and not missed a Bees meeting at Brandon for 13 years. Someone will have to make some positive action to indicate we are to return to Brandon for me to start the trek to Leicester. Another point is the loss of the 50/50 indicates negative thinking on my part. I was a regular supporter of the draw if I remember correctly Mr Horton took it over couple of seasons ago but had to resort to returning it to NSSC after supporter pressure.

Forgetting all the rubbish about toilets and how good/bad you are hopefully we will receive some information today. I have yesterday watched Coventry play Rugby. Listened to the summary about Coventey City FC slowly approaching none league football. City of culture speaks for itself. As a city we had first class speedway best riders in the world stage Brandon. Won the FA cup in 1987 how sad both sports are rock bottom. With regard to Speedway if I have to go to Leicester to watch Cov/Leicester Bees then to quote Dragon Den I am out and finished with speedway after 65 years. I would say to the parties involved in Horton/Sandhu/ the people in Jersey who don't appear to want to reveal themselves one of you is to blame for the present situation. The way supporters have been treated is disgusting in no information, nothing from gothe very active (normally) Mr Watson, sad demise. I will not go to Leicester to support my local team If that's the decision then forget all the talk about mew stadiums etc. New housing will be on it's way and two fingers to the sports fans in the area of Coventry/Warwickshire. Wake up all of you have resorted to posting about how long you can wait before using a toilet and realise what you will be missing in 2017!!

We as a sport are in a major danger of losing our beloved sport at Brandon and what do we resort to talking about getting caught short sorry if you feel hurt at my criticism but It just shows what sincere honest supporters have been driven to. Had enough p......d off with this sport best of luck to the cinders cause that's all that's left.

sport on CW radio reported Wayne Roberts as saying the meeting still on hope to be able to report later?

I agree with voice of reason attend Speedway meeting between heats 5/10 minutes like attending a funeral. Go to Wasps the place is alive from time of entry to time of leaving. Don't forget the meetings that are called off because of weather (not fault of promoter) think of the other penalty a supporter has that wonderful 'CURFEW' often used without any foundation a number of times last season. Normally during Storm meetings or double headers. At one of the meetings at Brandon village hall Horton was forced to admit that there was no official Curfew time at Brandon. Speedway spectators are the worst treated in all the sports in this country. They lose money but still come back the following week for their further punishment.

Just to remind Argos that his times are ridiculous unless he travels by helicopter. We do have some stupid posts on this forum.

I forecast if the Bees move to Leicester as their home they will fail within three months suggest that investing in season tickets would NOT be a wise move. In fact they weren't last season people lost money. I had subscribed for 10 years before that but could see the way we were going. Proof of the pudding is the eating I.e. Latest news that they want to turn Brandon into a carl park. Binley Wood citizens will react to this we should be totally behind them with full support from Speedway/Stock car fraternity. We still don't know who is the major party for the sad situation responsible for major blame but it seems to be the owners of the land they wasted no time in advertising their massive car park. Shame on all participants City of culture with this shambles and that of Sisu/Cov ityFC makes mockery of Coventry's ambition.

Why has venom now turned to Chapman next will be Uncle Tom Conley and all. Chapman appears to have resolved Lejcester's problems perhaps he could be instrumental in solving Bees problems. Should leave all character assassination until we know who the real villain is.!!!!

I can't believe that any real comment about the Bees situation has been released by Horton/Watson about the "negotiations " going on. It's not a world secret but a sporting club in a city (or near) aiming to be a City of culture, not to mention Sisu/Cov City. The supporters of Stock cars/Speedway deserve better. Are we the victim of a major conspiracy we don't know and perhaps never will. Let's hope It's made difficult to build houses as they seem to wish!. Regret that Speedway is now a failing sport look at strengths of Elite sorry Premier league riders. Regret that I will sadly miss my Speedway. Went to Brandon first in1948 and haven't missed a Bees meeting for 12 years so I class myself as an avid Speedway supporter. Will become a TV supporter and that will be the end of live viewing together with cancellation of my weekly Speedway Star. Sorry folks
-
I'm disappointed that the Bees management are not supplying any information to their loyal supporters the total information we have had in the last three months is a happy Christmas from Mick Horton and a pathetic poem from Mr Watson a pretty poor show! If Mick Horton doesn't want/can't agree with t terms is there no one on the sidelines who would take on the lease and reach some amicable agreement with Sandhu?.
-
Great post sums up the exsct state of Speedway 201)/7 sorry this reply is to voice of reason
-
I'm not sure the detective story Ihave just read is true but it certainly makes one think there is a lot of sense to be considered .What I see in Speedway Star that Leicester are now sorted and will be signing riders in the near future. As they say in advertising "Watch this space" !!

To comment on what GH said I think Councillor Stokes made the same comment at the Save our Speedway meeting at Warwick University.
-
Got to apologise and really sorry I looked at Counvillor Stokes site and the message read 6 mins ago I then read the old release and I made a terrible mistake by reading the OLD release. Really sorry I raised the hopes of all supporters. Back to the drawing board sorry folks hold me head in shame
-
On Councillor Stokes website there for all to see but NOT on Bees website that's still news back to April 2016!!!.
-
Statement issued within last few minutes by Councillor Stokes he called another meeting with Horton/Sandhu to cut it short it appears that the meeting ended amicably and there was full agreement the stadium will be repaired and Speedway/Stocks will take place during 2017 and the Councillor urges supporters of both sports to get behind their teams. Well done Councillor Stokes!!!.

Well said I agree Sandhu could get the whole show on the road again. The place has been like a mausoleum for years. Recently went to Wasps whole stadium alive great event Speedway should take this as an example and things would change. You have to create a stadium that is alive. Not arrive no music then the highlight of the evening Peter York to entertain us its all old hat. Yes we need a revamp.
-
Gemini how I agree with you forget all the nonsence about who has got this average who is going to win the league no statement of intent makes you think we are "doomed Captain Mannering" Let Horton/Watson tell us other. Sorry forget the Police angle that's a red herring i.e. Has no significance in the discussions.
