Ipswich v Sheffield play off final 1st leg
SUPERACE replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Robert was injured for the Kings Lynn meeting lol. I think we all just want to see a fit and proper system for covering Playoff injuries. Personally signings if possible are a better option than guests. -

How was Robert Lambert a guest for the Aces, please explain? Yes don't attack the poster explain your point, you have failed to do that as you can't, because he simply wasn't a guest. -

Not sure the Aces benefited from guests, Craig cook didn't score anywhere near what Fricke would of done, S Lambert same as Jye would of done, and Robert wasn't a guest. -

I think that was most people's issue, Belle Vue paying his mortgage this year and he scores 4 points that made a difference in the tie. This is not Jack's fault of course but the sport is crazy. -

I think your getting confused, I know the rule, just because there is a rule it doesn't make it right. This is a forum not the rules panel. The rule that states a playoff rider can't guest even when his team are out, but a none playoff rider can guest for anyone and everyone is ludicrous. -

This we agree on, I love the play offs. They just need to find a sensible way of teams covering injuries that's fair for all. It's simple for me as follows. 1. If a rider is injured and out for the season you can replace him after the cut off date, but said rider mustn't race again anywhere that season, if he does then said team loses the facility. 2. Guests can ride for anyone as long as there team isn't in the play offs, once out of playoffs those riders become available to Guest 3. Guests can be used for any rider 1 to 7 or r/r. 4. No 8 day rule for play offs. -

Lambert won't have 2 winners medals he will have 1. He was a contracted Belle Vue rider, he's only a Sheffield guest. -

Lidsey can't guest now his team are out, it's the same as Harris. It's absolutely nonsense and there is no argument otherwise. -

There is a rule can Jamon Lidsey guest, no, so then why can Chris Harris, it doesn't make sense does it. -

There isn't a rule all year that stops riders who have rode for one team in a competition riding for another., in the playoffs there is a rule, so that rule should cover all rides. -

It's a complete cock up. Harris rode in the semi final so he should fall under the same rules as Belle Vue and Wolves riders. It makes no sense that this is allowed to happen. The Rules again are making a mockery of the sport. -

It's a shambles that Chris Harris can guest For Sheffield having already rode for Ipswich. The rules are making a joke of the sport again. -

If that was the case Belle Vue would have 2 more league titles to our name making it 15 instead of 13, but I wouldn't swap last year's play off final win for anything. Winning it in a Grand final makes it so much bigger, great crowds, great atmospheres, you can't beat it. -

Enjoy the final, it can be a great occasion. Last years final was the best speedway moment for me, it even beat 1993. -

It was great for about 15 years but by around 2003 it started to look shabby. Also bikes simply got too fast and the racing wasn't as good as in the 90s. -

You do realise that most commenting about the track are non Belle Vue Fans. There was no luck involved in our stadium it was 2 owners who worked hard over 7 years to get this off the ground. -

Where you have to credit Gordon and Morton is they started the work on a new stadium from day 1 of taking over at BV. They new eventually the days at the dog tracked would be numbered and they were right. Too many are sitting tight and not looking to the future. The dogs is a dying sport for many reasons, all those teams in dog tracks will suffer the same fate as Wolves if they don't look to move. -

Firstly congratulations Ipswich and good luck in the final. Incredibley proud of the Aces tonight they gave it absolutely everything, we were so so close in the end but it wasn't to be. What an amazing meeting that was that is Speedway at it's very very best well done to all 13 riders you put on a great show. 2 interesting points from our owner tonight: Aces Attendance has grown 36% since 2016 and it's 7% up on last season. Roll on 2024. 2 -
