  1. If there is a new deal, I hope (but I don't expect) that the promoters have told sky that clubs want to hold their meetings on their normal race night rather than sky browbeating them into always changing to monday nights. Maybe then the "live" attendances would look better - I know a lot of people who can't get to the track on mondays as they have other things to do but never miss a meeting on normal race night
  2. hang on, this is Shadders, the kebab / manky fishnchips king of Hoddesdon we're talking about - decent won't have come into the equation
  3. I seem to remember a fair few times when Sky have had an over-run problem on another sport and they have switched the speedway to another channel or the red button - not a lot of use if you're out and have set up the recording. At least with Eurosport, you get coverage eventually. I dare say, if they'd cut off the tennis coverage before the end, they'd have had several times the number of complaints from tennis fans for missing the end than they will from speedway fans because we didn't get the start of the meeting
  4. Biggest rip off is the programme at £10 the previous two saturdays I was at Wembley and Twickenham for football and rugby playoff finals. The progs there were £6, just as well produced with about the same editorial / adverts mix. Production numbers would have been similar for Wembley (40000 attendance), maybe more for Twick (80000 crowd), but that programme had 3d pictures in it and came with a free flag Mate of mine went to Amsterdam for the europa league final - prog 7 euros, also about £6 Why was the GP one so much more - not even produced in a rush late on friday (except for the insert sheet) as we had to write in the riding order ourselves (and yes, I know I could've just printed off a sheet off this site, but that's not the point)
  5. I booked on friday evening for Saturday - so doesn't always work!
  6. No, explained that badly The room that cost me 135 saturday would cost me 75 to stay in it tonight
  7. you mean I got ripped off on saturday paying 135 for a premier inn?? The same room that's 75 today I thought the 5.00 start was done to curb these shysters - clearly not worked Although they've clearly spotted we're the kind of mugs that will pay a tenner for a programme so they think anything goes
  8. They're bound to re-stage it otherwise they'd be diluting the season ticket saving and that nice Midland Robin would never do that.
  9. They must have been in a "batch" which has been delayed coming to swindon I'll get my coat
  10. Spring is coming - there may be snow on the ground but the adver has a fixtures list. Now we just need the riders to complete those fixtures. http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/sportlatest/10182551.SPEEDWAY__Elite_League_fixtures_released/
  11. I'd like to thank Midland Robin and the rest of the promotion for the very nice christmas card I received yesterday and to nominate them for "Extreme optimist of the Year" for putting in a season ticket renewal form!
  12. How can you "like" the previous post about Lambert being not the rider Rye should've signed and then post this defending him?????
  13. try reading the competition rules before spouting what turns out to be rubbish http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.18467.3
  14. Either they've changed it or you misread it as it now says "premier league winner" which I take to mean a member of the title winning side What a cracking looking team AR and GP are building, can't wait for the season ticket renewal invitation (if they send them out)
  15. are they made of material durable enough to last 45 years?
  16. are we supposed to be dancing in the streets of the town tonight about this "big exciting announcement"? Exciting for the promoter's financial position maybe, but not really for the average spectator is anyone really going to say "I'm off to see the excalibur robins tonight"
  17. Sorry Wasn't being pedantic re it being the wrong day, it was meant as a comment about Dudley losing another option for their o/s meetings
  18. So the olympique's taking another tuesday out of the equation
  19. Tim Bungay, because he was the first "not much good, but a real trier" I saw when I started seeing speedway at Wembley in 1970
  20. I'd say come on KL so the raiders qualify but if I'm honest, the bog moggies and (especially) Dudley have been head and shoulders the best teams and it would be a travesty if one of those two weren't crowned champions after the playoffs
  21. With those 3, they didn't ought to be far enough behind to need a tactical in heat 13
  22. according to the Star Havvy Kus Bowen Boxall
  23. It's a shame - I used to enjoy sunday afternoons at QM, can't go on a saturday as the last train home is just before 9.00 but I gave up mid season as I got my fingers burned a couple of times when I bought advance train tickets only to find out the match had been called off by the management for various scheduling reasons
  24. thanks that makes it damn near impossible to get back to swindon by train as the last direct one is about 8.30
  25. Looking forward to the trip over the bridge (under the tunnel really) for this one, but not as much as I would have if the team had still been the Cobras or Raiders.
