  1. When you say freeloaders i presume you mean corporate guests and/or tickets that sponsors etc. receive. But, are these not included in the official attendance ?. Surely health and safety regulations require all people in the stadium to be accounted for ?. Or, is this the case and it's just that they don't physically enter via the turnstiles ?. Which would mean the crowd could indeed been as high as 45,000. I'm not saying it is the case, indeed i wouldn't have thought so, but still seen several references to 50,000. However, i suppose that is explained by just one news source/agency coming up with that estimate which then gets passed on.
  2. 40,371 Surely such a specific figure must be the definitive answer. It has appeared in the Telegraph. I have seen many more hovering around the 45,000 and 41,000 mark. However none of them have been so exact. So, is this the likely true attendance ?. Or does it just include paying customers ?.
  3. Naah only having a larf Although please stop giving the impression to outsiders or potential sponsors that our sport is inherently corrupt.
  4. This accusation of criminal behaviour is one of many that permeate this forum. Therefore, as i feel it is my duty as a good citizen to report crime, i have taken the following steps. I have collated all posts quoting these crimes that are alleged to have been committed. I have passed the details on to the various Police forces concerned and solicitors who act on behalf of BSI and the numerous promoters to have been slurred on here, or not, depending on the outcome. Also, as i am such a genial chap and am glad to save you time and work, i passed on the details of the posters making the allegations.
  5. 50,000 PLUS according to IcWales. 40,000 says the Sunday Times (who incidentally have had two derogatory - with obligatory archaic views of the sport - articles in the run-up to the meeting). I guess somewhere in between. Certainly way above a previous quote on here of 30-35,000.
  6. Been vainly watching Sky Sports News on Freeview for the last couple of hours. Seeing as the GP is on Sky One tomorrow, i had presumed there would be a fair chance of a preview or mention of the event. I've seen adverts for Sky THREE programming (rugby) for tomorrow. No mention of Speedway as usual. I've only ever seen our sport on as the very last item on the channel, lasting just a minute or so. Usually only showing a crash or a single shot of the 'mathematically confirming' race on any night, no matter how exciting previous races during the meeting have been. I'm at a loss as to why they are so clearly reluctant to mention, let alone advertise the sport. It's a stunningly begrudging attitude when they have actually laid out money for coverage rights. You only ever see a split second of action within their lengthy trailers for the sport to come on Sky. Thank god they don't show tiddywinks or we'd be totally ignored in trailers and news.
  7. Obviously Sky have paid to have live coverage, no arguments with that. I just really miss the excellent highlights programme on channel four that is missing for the first time this year. No way is that progress, it simply stinks.
  8. Please give her a chance as she has had some good rocky tunes which always go down well in a stadium atmosphere. I personally will be a bit miffed if the songs are ruined by airhorns blasting away during the actual performance of them. Fine in between the individual songs, but please consider the enjoyment of those who do want to listen. By the way, i'm wondering if by 'rough cars' she means Stock Car racing ?
  9. NO solution. As with more people than you think may be the case, we can't get planning permission for the dishes. Also, don't forget there are many 'millions' of folk who can't afford Sky. Then there are those who have no wish to be forced into purchasing a swathe of unwanted channels to get access to the channel that Speedway is on. I personally simply do not have to time to sit and watch television to make subscribing to Sky remotely worth the outlay. However, i would be able to flick on the TV to a terrestrially aired programme. I presume Sky must have insisted the series can't be shown on the normal channels. Which isn't wise on their part. There is always a strong possibility that people coming across the spectacle of the SGP would then desire to gain access to more regular coverage of the sport. Most people i know decide on whether to get Sky or not on how many things are on it they like. The more the merrier when it comes to tipping te scales in balance of subscribing. Presuming they can receive the service, far from always possible.
  10. I refer to the absence of Speedway, specifically the SGP, on terrestrial television. One fault with BSI is their propensity to 'see no evil, hear no evil and publicise no evil. You will often see on their website and in press releases that they are very quick to fanfare broadcasting agreements. They will often say how important it is for the mainstream public to have access to the sport. It is so infuriating to see headlines referring to new television deals only to find out they refer to Denmark, Poland or Outer Mongolia. I had started buying 'Speedway Star' magazine last year so that i could be more informed on the series, stories and personalities. However, no longer as it's pretty boring and pointless folllowing something that you never get to see.
  11. Possibly a symptom of Speedway no longer being broadcast to the masses on terrestrial television. As not everyone is a Sky subscriber. But even i was surprised to see the following quote from Bonnie Tyler regarding her appearance at Cardiff... 'well it's a Speedway thing, i think it's motorbikes, motorbikes or rough cars' Incidentally, she is also a bit peeved at only being allowed half an hour, as she wanted to do her full one and three-quarter hour set.
