Last night saw four Elite teams in action: Eastbourne v Coventry & Leicester v Lakeside. Three of the sides used r/r, so the fans don't see a full team and the meetings take longer to complete. I have friends who have had enough of this and have become 'armchair' supporters. They wanted a team of seven riders to support - not guests, r/r & fast track fillers!
Any idea when the World Under-21 World Team Cup dates will be available?
As a Wolverhampton fan I will be going to Eastbourne on 23 August 2014 to watch the Wolves ride without Piotr Pwlicki & Jacob Thorssell due to this years final at Slangurup. Not even sure if 'Lydia' will be there at #1 either? Keep the nails going into the Elite League coffin! There are far too many GP's, SWC's, Qualifiers etc that are killing league racing.
The New Zealander Dave Gifford was well known as '62' when he joined Wolves. This was his SoCal number when he rode in California.
Billy & Greg will be remembered as 'spoons; so I hope objects as well as shapes and numbers can be used....
After all - Dave Jessup was known as "One Line"
PS: Mike Bast is 'The Professor' and not not Hans Nielsen.......
So, am I to assume my 'BL team' will comprise a 1-5 of one or two Elite League riders, three or four double uppers. This will be topped up by NL riders at six and seven? Looks like £10 Adult speedway admission price has arrived!
Steve,
Xmas crawl - best bit of news this week.
Get Superguest to let me know the details!
Will Santa or T.N.T. turn up? - Are they both real????

'Ole Ole Ole' was most definately the terrace chant in the early 70's (and P** P** P** also the Cradley reply!) This carried on for a few years until Mr. Olsen followed the money tree to Brandon. Although he did win a World Final in Wolves colours in 1975 - but the move to Coventry was sealed well beforehand and his subsequent loss of respect on the Monmore terraces confirmed.
Another aspect of Wolves-Spoons rivalry was seeing the paint spray can displays of "OLE POWER" being converted to "COLE POWER". This was quite good humour and I'm sure Howard Cole must have enjoyed seeing the walls of Wolverhampton & Dudley sprayed with this.

As a Wolves fan, I seem to recall Ole was 'parked' into the fence at Oxford in the early seventies incurring a shoulder injury. It might have been Ronnie Genz who was involved in the incident, but not sure. Either way Ole was never really known for outside overtaking after that.
All the best,
Lefty
