  1. Very saddened to log onto the Wolves website this morning and see Wolves & Cradley being branded together under the "Monday night is... Speedway night!" banner. Shows how the Promotion and Elite league has declined in recent years - ugh!
  2. Well done Gemini. My two border collies have just gone ape sh*t when I played this
  3. For SCB... I went on a journalist course and they said if you had published "HALF OF THE SPEEDWAY PROMoTERS ARE LIARS" And then was told retract the statement.... What would you do???? The next week we published...... "HALF OF THE SPEEDWAY PROMOTERS ARE NOT LIARS" Enjoy - Lefty
  4. Love this thread.. I'm reminded of Gordon Astley on Radio WM who said ... Did you hear about the dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac who woke up in the night wondering if there was a DOG? The next time he asked... did you hear about the speedway promoter who woke up in the night wondering if there was an Elite League? Enjoy lefty
  5. What's Starbucks? What's a cappuccino? Think he's joined Ipswich - rode for Sheffield last year. His old man used to sell ice creams at Reading....
  6. Hi Folks, Is the Olympique using the traditional 16 rider, 20 heat formula? I haven't seen any updated news on who is riding. Thanks, Lefty
  7. My first visit to Hackney was in my old Ford Consul - no satNav then just AtoZ and the M1 finished at the Edgware Rd - you were brill,,, you won then - plz win this one
  8. Do Wolves fans want Lydia back? I don't . When he can ride Kirky Dump & the Arlington pear drop then I might be interested - then I Will consider him as a World Champion...
  9. Beowulf as a Wolves fan you always said to me, "when you see Eric Gundersen pass a Wolves rider in a Wolves v Cradley meeting - save that programme, it's so rare!"
  10. Apologies for hijacking the Leicester thread, but as a Wolves supporter I was raised on Friday night as race night and preferred that., but things altered when danMc & CVS swapped race nights and moved Hans Nielsen to the Brummies. So how about the Brummies having Mondays! As for Leicester's ambitions and the current decline of the Elite League - should they consider reverting back to Tuesday's as per the Blackbird Rd days and ride in the Swedish League. this way Doyle can remain with them, and the team can be rebadged as Lionerna - simples 😄😄
  11. Perhaps there was a shortage of guests available?
  12. Normally Wolves bring a couple of 'unknowns' over for the end of season Olmpique meeting. If they are any good then Poole snap them up!
  13. Could the start time be brought forward to 7:00pm? Then it might be over by 11:00pm. Also I would have expected Leicester to be the first match as they were the original fixture.
  14. No price reduction, so the regulars will be able to wave to each other across the gaps on the terraces. Can we expect the status of the prestige event 'The Olympique' to be confirmed tonight or will it remain provisional? Sad times when a season is likely to finish by the first week of September. Although some would say the season finished earlier!!!
  15. No rider-replacement when it's a Double Header meeting would be a good place to start,
  16. I will have nothing said against CVS as he is the only promoter to cancel speedway for Deirdre Barlow's funeral, (anon)
  17. Well, I only spotted three of us Wolves fans at the 'Torun Of The South' last night. We were fortunate to get a place on the back straight with a clear view of the track. Thankfully we were kept company by a guy with a Charlton Athletic badge on his coat and a Hackney proggy board who gave us the chance to talk about the good old days! The cafe food was excellent (again), then things went downhill... Think top eight is the best we can hope for now!
  18. Can we use Chris Harris to replace Freddie Lindgren now that Belle Vue has been rained off?
  19. Wolves and lakeside web sites have the fixture as either Thursday 12/8 or fri 13/8 not 22 June! Have the tracks been informed yet
  20. Today is the 30th Aniversary of... However, back to the Racers and the problems of their season. On 6 May, Wolverhampton arrived for a League Cup match, but with Reading leading 24-14, the visiting riders walked out and their supporters decided to sit on the track in protest about the conditions. The meeting was abandoned and was eventually ordered to be re-run, a decision that was not well received by the Reading promotion. When the match was finally re-staged, on 17 September, Reading ran out winners by 46 points to 32, with Bill Dore allowing the supporters to gain free entry. There was more controversy on 28 October, when Cradley Heath were due to visit Smallmead for a league match, only Extract from Reading website (hope thats ok) Will the few of us at Poole tonight have to do the same. Happy Days - Enjoy - Lefty
  21. No PK at Poolle tonight, he's unwell (see Wolves web site). So if he is also r/r for Smederna then what is the furthest distance apart that r/r has been used for the the same rider on the same night??? Couldn't Rory Schlein take both the guest bookings!!!
  22. At Lakeside last Friday Wolves fans watched Doyle & Schlein as the opposition heat leaders..... And tonight we have ..... Same again!! What a sorry state the Elite League is in - now we have teams in name only.
  23. Any news on who is the centre-green announcer tonight - 'Porky' or 'Yorky'?
  24. cookie's mate was Mike Rooney - aka: roondog! Was the announcer at Auburn the last time I met him. Great guy!
