Lefty replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Possibly... Call the meeting a Grand Prix and it would have been ridden with just an hours delay!!!! -
British Final 2021
Lefty replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
How about the riders riding under an alias in the other league: So for PL Wolves and the other CL teams: Sam Masters = Dan Plasters Broc Nicol = Don Pickle Rory Schlein = Rick Stein Luke Becker = Duke Pecker Nick Morris = Dick Wallace Ryan Douglas = Bryan Mugless Leon Flint = Don Skint. So team integrity and street credibility restored.... simple -

Is it time for the other riders to go down on bended knee? "JUSTICE FOR CONNOR" -
Belle Vue (Hyde Rd). Halifax (Shay). Sheffield (70's). San Bernadino, Ca (80''s track). Mount Gambia (Sth Australia, Tapp Series).

Dave Gifford, Tom Leadbitter, Bill Powell, Ken Eyre, Bruce Cribb. The 'Wolves' riders who put the 'team' into team Speedway. They made the team jacket proud. The engine room behind the stars.

He can now officially write '(Kent)' after his name.

Leicester vs Edinburgh 07/08/21
Lefty replied to JanAndersen's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I remember a long time ago standing outside in a rain shower and a Speedway Meeting broke out. -
Good post mikebv. I've suggested to Amazon Prime that the follow up to "Clarkson''s Farm" should be "Grant''s Speedway Track"!

Golly..... is that the same Tim Sugar that 'guest' Team Managed Wolves to an away win at Swindon???

Local TV Central News tonight had the Dudley Town Crier doing his "Oh Yays" as Dudley applies for City status. The Town Crier looked remarkably similar to that of the Wolves centre-green announcer, Porky??? My Wolves chums say, how can Dudley ever claim city status when the Council doesn't want to have a League Football team (they play in Willenhall), a speedway team (remember Cradley) or even a railway station (it closed in the 60's)!!! Other 2021 City status applicants include Milton Keynes (Speedway shut), Reading (Speedway shut) and Swindon (is it an omen?)

Belle Vue -V- Wolves (Eurosport)
Lefty replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Are there any riders missing? After all as we always told how well the track drains etc and it being the TV match? -
Praise to all concerned with the 15 heats being done and dusted in under 90 mins. Rain was forecast for 9pm and for once arrived as scheduled! Hopefully with the next home meeting being on Freedom Day we can see a return of a better crowd interaction and wave goodbye to the Covid Marshalls.

As Wolves last home match was against. .... Sheffield!!!, Tigers should be well set up for it. Sorry to hear of Bates being sidelined as he always rode with good social distancing when trying to get round Monmore.

BIRMINGHAM SEASON RESUMES JULY 7th
Lefty replied to Speedway fan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Why not start the meeting at 10:30pm? The sun will have gone down by then and track grading can be completed for then (possibly?). If the football goes into extra time then a 30 mins delay will be easy for most fans to accept. Might have to cancel the second half though. -
Oh yes.... age is only a number!! But it's getting bigger!!! Yep. From a fading memory, Nel Revlis was in the Sunderland proggy when I was at Sunderland v Bradford in the early seventies. I was spannering for Tony Freegard who was riding for Bradford. Dave Baugh equalled Ivan Mauger's track record in heat one. It was a small track and we had to borrow a front sprocket off Jim Ryman (Boston) who was living in Wolverhampton at the time. I was proud of driving back from Sunderland to Wolves in one go!!! Although years later I heard Matt Wethers mechanic drove St. Austell to Edinburgh in one go which eclipses my effort by far . In later years I drove in the States and did New Mexico to San Bernadino, Ca with fuel stops only to watch Speedway. Happy times . Nowadays it's an achievement to get up the M6 from Wolves to Belle Vue.

Yep that's what was said. Nothing next Monday on Eurosport. Plus Belle Vue - Sheffield is postponed anyway. Isn't it wonderful the options that a six team league gives???
-
You could finish in the Top Six of the Premiership
-
Yep. A strong programme board with a large bulldog clip was mandatory!!!

I recall the once being in the pits at King's Lynn with Spike spannering for George Hunter. George had incurred a tape infringement (rolling at the start) and was excluded. George could be heard balling down the phone to the Referee saying, "It's my job to beat you, not your job to beat me!" + a few expletives!!! Sure miss him.

A very well written statement summing up the issues that are impacting all tracks.
