  1. Just wait til the cavalcade of Kent fans come onto this thread to bemoan their Heat 1 "5-lapper" on Monday...all in all, Monday was not a good day in the world of the SCB and their referees, was it?
  2. Auntie will be there http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/speedway/17839601
  3. The SkySports and their cameras can sod off as far as I am concerned.
  4. Craig Cook dipped out of the GB v Australia test series a couple of years ago because "he couldn't afford it". Craig Cook hasn't been selected for GB for the Kings Lynn leg of the SWC this year. Reasons for his ommission haven't been made public. Then the Google translated interview with the Stal Gorzow boss reveals: OK, Peter Karlsson may not be up for it, but Craig Cook should have grasped this chance with both hands if he had any ambition at all to progress and get to the top of his game, shouldn't he? Is it time to finally concede that Craig Cook doesn't have what it takes for British fans to hang their hat on for the future? Will he simply revert now to being a Premier League journeyman rider for the rest of his years in the sport?
  5. Firstly the Brummies centre green announcer compared Alex Wilson to Tomasz Gollob. Teaboy compares Zach Whatsit to Tai Woffinden and someone on Speedway Updates compares Adam Kirby to Nicki Pedersen...any more world champion comparisons? Coming back to the comments about Kirby on the Updates site, maybe people were thinking that you were implying a degree of malevolence in Kirby's riding. They were simply pointing out that he may be lacking a complete skill set (he's only a hard trying NL rider after all) and he wasn't really the embodyment of all things evil.
  6. Who would want to be a commissioner? What would be in it for them? If they were so good, wouldn't they have better (more profitable) things to do with their time? Who would make the appointments? What sort of salaries would these commissioners want, and who would pay them? Because at the end of the day, to get top quality people, you will have to pay way more than speedway can afford, and why won't those who pay the pipers still not be seen to be calling the tunes? One of Birmingham's promotion team from a few years ago actually. Someone who knows the guy and would know what he's talking about.
  7. The worst conditioins for a televised speedway meeting since that meeting when Poole were engineered a 4-point away win at Belle Vue in 2013 perhaps? The one that Poole needed to get through to the play-offs perhaps? Wait a minute,.,Sky Sports, Poole Pirates, poor weather, meeting forced through to Heat 10 before being abandoned, Poole picking up maximum points on both occasions. The stuff of conspiracy theories perhaps? Just supposin' of course. Or just out and out corruption to the core?
  8. And following on from this...the Brummies second meeting away from Perry Barr won't be until 8th July, at Kings Lynn... Whatever, glad to see a good away win this evening. Happy for the travelling contingent of Brummies fans who'l be making the long journey back with smiles on their faces I'm sure.
  9. Where the Brummies go, so too do the rain clouds...Better luck for tomorrow. Is there some kind of record being set up here that a team hasn't been able to start an away fixture until 1st June?
  10. Yeah, OK, lets get rid of the problem. Tony Mole, Nigel Pearson, Buster Chapman, Matt Ford, Chris Van Straaten, etc etc... they'll all be put up against a wall and shot at dawn. That'll help won't it? So the plan is to have a new and independent governing body. OK... A few little questions: 1. Who is going to appoint the people in this independent governing body? 2. Who, of those people worth their salt, would want to serve in this independent governing body? 3. Who is going to pay the people who are going to serve in this independent governing body? Try this out...take your concept of speedway as a business model to the Dragons Den on telly, and see if anyone will invest in it. e-mail??? - NOT all communication has to be in public. And so should the BSPA - have you tried using the BSPA site on your mobile phone? Last I heard, Jon Cook is responsible for the EL fixtures, and he has "form" for forgetting about FIM fixtures when compiling the EL fixture list. He did exactly the same a couple of years ago when he scheduled Lakeside at home to Birmingham a few years ago, only for it to dawn on him a week beforehand that due to the training requirements, 3 of his riders would be unavailable for the Friday EL meeting, so he had to ask Birmingham for a postponement...after Brummies fans had taken time off work, booked travel, accommodation etc.
  11. Suzanne Nielsen girlfriend of Hans Nielsen sounds not quite right...Could she have been Hans's sister and the girlfriend of Finn Jensen? Oh, for better memory of events. Anyway, good luck to Hayley. Let's hope that she will be judged on her own merits as a speedway rider not as a novelty act.
  12. P P (not easy to spell) just saying he is a good rider and when he, Bartek, Magic and the Pawlicki's (more P P's) are all in their 20's then Poland will have one hell of a team. 3 P P's in one team. The P key on your keyboard will get worn out before you know it..
  13. I expected better from Holub than this...still, not that surprising that the "New Pepe" of Poland won. He's a cracking young rider.
  14. Was this the one who beat Boris Spassky ? If I remember rightly the Danish lady was a girlfriend of Finn Jensen, and I have a feeling her surname was Nielsen, although her first name escapes me.
  15. Let's hope that the weather plays ball. It'll be just a few hours short of June that the Brummies get to have their first outing of the season away from Perry Barr.
  16. I was impressed with what I saw of Zdenek Holub at Gustrow last Friday. I'd say that he's be my favourite to win at Pardubice. With all due respect and good luck wishes to Josh Bates (sub 3.9 PL rider), having him compete against Bartosz Zmarzlik and Oleksandr Loktaev kind of says it all for where we are with British Speedway and how far behind we have fallen.
  17. Excellent photos. Sadly I didn't have quite as much access to the rest of the stadium as you did...but here's mine...I call it "Us and Them" lol
  18. A team in form at the present and built with a view to a rosy future.
  19. With the BSPA/SCB not being able to see beyond our own shores it's hardly surprising that British riders don't succeed on the world stage. We have over 20 tracks of varying shapes and sizes in Britain so plenty of scope for gaining lots of skills and experience. Latvia has one track, yet they have 3 qualifiers to our 1. And what have Dakota North Max Fricke and Sam Masters got that British riders like Kyle Newman and Rob Lambert don't have? Someone please work out how that has happened.
  20. So after the qualification round, GB has old man Harris through. The World Speedway powerhouses of Ukraine, Latvia, and Germany have at least 2 qualifiers whilst Croatia and Slovakia have just as many qualifiers as GB. Kind of a sobering thought eh?
  21. Alternatively if you have a motorised satellite dish and a subscription to NC+ or to a naughty cardsharing service you can watch the broadcasts in HD on your television set. Better still, take a trip over and see a meeting first hand. You won't regret it.
  22. Great evenings entertainment here in the cage at Zielona Gora. I recommend this experience to everyone.
  23. On my way now...A long drive from Szczecin but it will be worth it.
  24. Did Phil Morris succeed in escaping from Warsaw?
