  1. This is what puzzles me...If Daugavpils "can't" be promoted, and Grudziadz are definitely relegated, why are Ostrow competing with Rzeszow for the rights to be in the Ekstraliga next year? Surely the Ekstaliga won't reduce to just 7 teams, so will Ostrow get promoted whether or not they beat Rzeszow as a second choice candidate after Daugavpils? As things stand after the first leg, so what if they did? BUT theoretically, supposing that they do beat Rzeszow on aggregate, they can only get promoted once but they effectively relegate a second team....then what happens?
  2. Not too hot with the last one either, Alex2000. Have you been drinking today or something? :drink:
  3. Bitmingham? Careful that one doesn't come back to byte your digits off.
  4. Blimey, that's quick this year. Just wondering if that means that it's early in order to allow as much time as possible to implement any changes that they vote through? Which also suggests that the changes that they expect to vote through would be big ones. - Just supposing like...
  5. Assuming this bit to be correct... then where will this license to print money occur? Because there won't be room in the PL fixture list to fit Cradley in at Perry Barr.
  6. So on one hand it makes no difference to the running of the club, and on the other it may force them into the elevation to a higher league. Ehh? And when I say higher league, that's because there's still no guarantee at this point what that will be, whether it's the existing PL or whether it's a hybrid EL/PL "mash-up". Guess we'll know more in about 6 -7 weeks time.
  7. This may be a very optimistic prediction. If both teams relied on each other then the impact of one will be felt by the other.
  8. Am I right in thinking that it will be a Guest for Zach and R/R for Sam? Zach has a decent average and there would be plenty of riders capable of doing a job. Just a shame that similar to 2007, the Brummies finish the season with 3 guests plus R/R
  9. Don't worry about this year's crop of new riders, just wait til next year when Marmaduke Fortesque-Arbuthnott, Tarquin McGillicuddy-Posslethwaite and Timothy Fitzwilliam-Sorensson burst onto the scene, maybe.
  10. Now now... This is the age of being soft and fluffy and cuddly to our nice neighbours. Can't ask them to be gracious in defeat if we can't be magnanimous in victory.
  11. Who cares? Coventrys penalty for not arranging all their fixtures in good time was missing out on th Gold Cup. Even if their 3 points had elevated them above Rye House, the semi final is over now so it's too late. Shame upon the Coventry promotion for getting into this pickle in the first place.
  12. Let's see how they progress once they get past the age that they can legally buy drinks in the pub. If they are strong willed enough to resist temptation then maybe there will be hope. If on the other hand they go down the Lewis Bridger / Ben Barker route, then expect their development to be stunted. And then there is the Patryck Dudek / Aleksander Loktaev route to avoid too... many a hurdle to overcome before we can be sure about what will happen.
  13. If you don't know the answer then why not start by asking young people? Start with some market research. Ask them where they got to hear about the latest trainers that they are wearing. Ask them where they got to hear about the music they are listening to, or the beer that they are drinking. Ask the questions and maybe you'll find the answers. Then take it from there. What won't work is when you have promoters who either believe in "open the doors and the people will come", or those who do it today like they have been doing it for the last 50 years, or those who fathers did it a certain way and whose fathers fathers did it a certain way. The world has changes and maybe in a way that people of our generation don't recognise, so you have to ask and find out.
  14. Fair enough then... I don't follow speedway riders on Facebook. If it was that "official" then you'd have thought that something would have been on the Brummies web site by now wouldn't you? Or even the Brummies Facebook page?
  15. They might also bang their heads up against the same brick walls of the establishment that brought about the demises of the likes of Rob Lyon, Jonathan Chapman and others. They had ideas too...and woe betide those with ideas. The establishment does not "do" ideas. And you don't run up against the establishment and win.
  16. Maybe you and Gee Jay can discuss, in depth, the long history of the Eastbourne v Birmingham rivalry on Wonderful Radio Speedway Tavern?
  17. As Brummies_Ste hasn't announced the team line up yet, isn't it all a bit premature speculating about whether ZW is in the team or not? There was a conspiracy theory doing the rounds that the real reason that the weather forecast for the other week was so bad that the match had to be abandoned so far in advance was that there was a whole raft of unavailable riders (on both sides) that would have turned the meeting into an unattractive farce, that no-one would have paid to come and see. It may have been just as credible as the conspiracy theory that speculated that they would be grateful to replace the Joe Thurley individual meeting with a team meeting to have a profitable day instead of losing money. It could also be that both of those theories are right, or it could be that they are both a load of hogwash...bloody people chattering around on social media eh?
  18. Alternatively... "The Play-off's are great, if your involved, if you're not you advocate scrapping them on BSF"
  19. That's an easy accusation to make but look at the ages of promoters. Most are in their last year's before retirement. Their cares are about how many feathers they can gather for their nest before they receive their bus passes. They have no incentives to look beyond their own pension books and to care for the future of the sport.
  20. Someone define "value for money" please? There is already talk of speedway being a £10 sport. If at £10 promoters make money there will be a clamour for speedway to become a £5 sport. There's simply no pleasing the BSF brand of speedway fan.
  21. Well that's good to hear...just hope that he gets the booking then.
