Maybe you should apply for a top job at the BSPA. You're flying their flag and blowing their trumpet.
-
For that to happen, Lambert will have to dig out his old German license and forget about riding in the British leagues again as he'll face a 28 day ban if he missed a meeting to ride in the SEC, for "withholding his services" - exactly what prevented Scott Nicholls from joining the SEC tour when it started a couple of years ago. The BSPA do not want anything to do with any tournament organised by OneSport on behalf of FIM Europe. The BSPA do not care how much experience won't be gained, how much prestige can be brought to Britain, or how much the riders can earn. All they care about is that Robert Lambert brings a few more grannies and grandads through the gates at Newcastle on a Sunday afternoon.

I agree with Pawel, 8 points may not be enough. Torun only faced 5 effective riders today. I suspect that MJJ will score a few and Adrian Cyfer will get more than 1 next week, so things may be different. Got a hunch that as long as next week doesn't become the Greg Hancock Show, Stal will win. Cracking meeting though...great advert for the sport. Could almost call this the Inter-Stadium Play-off's as the two best teams in the two best speedway stadiums in Poland are in a battle-royale. Looking forward to my trip over to Gorzow next weekend to be there when it matters... -
British Speedway As A Brand....

I suggest you contact Terry Russell at Slow Speed International Ltd - All collective sponsorship and TV / Media / Multimedia matters are his responsibility. He has a monopoly on all these things and has been promising all these things for years. In case he's not answering his e-mails, you can collar him at Swindon Speedway most race nights. One would assume one of two possibilities: 1) All the above things are possible, and Terry Russell has been simply sitting with this thumb up his bum doing nothing about it. 2) Terry Russell has been busting a gut to achieve all these things but keeps running into brick walls, rejections, declinatures and other negative outcomes. You decide. -

Anyone have any plans to go to the speedway event in the World Games in Wroclaw, next year? (just waiting for the howles of derision of that being another "Mickey Mouse meeting" lol) -
Now turn the clock back a couple of years to when everyone on BSF was calling the SEC a Mickey Mouse competition... oh well you'll be reassured that the beloved governing bodies for speedway in the UK, who know best about everything, still continue to be of the opinion that all competitions promoted outside of these shores are "Mickey Mouse" and they won't allow British riders to lower themselves to the depraved depths that OneSport would drag them down to. So no. You won't see British riders taking part in the SEC and no, you won't get a round of the SEC held in Britain under the current regime. When you see your local promoter strutting around your stadium on racenight, be sure to run up to him, shake him by the hand, and thank him and his trade association, for another job really well done.

It does seem ironic that a team that at the moment has won 30 meetings, drawn one and lost just one, which by the time of the finals will probably have gone on to win 36 meetings could have their season undone completely by two more losses at the Arlington 50p piece. HOWEVER this sport is about excitement, suspense, intreague and drama too...isn't it? Or shouldn't it be?
-
So much for that prediction then...but if a team can't win away at Coventry then they don't deserve to be in the play-offs anyway.

Stal Gorzow have a 3 stage ticket sale process: 1. First sale to season ticket holders (12th-14th Sept) 2. Second sale to holders ot tickets from the semi-final (15th-16th Sept) 3. Open sale (17th onwards - probably for a few hours til the remaining tickets are all gone lol) Of course if you have a press pass etc ...lol -
Kent V Brummies Ko Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg Mon 12th Sep
uk_martin replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Both the KOC and the play-offs final could very easily go for a ball of chalk around the Arlington 50p piece. I'd still contend that the 4's and the pairs are mini and micro team events -

Rather ammusing considering the average age of the Brummies team. The Brummies didn't win the 4's. Rather doubt that a Brummies rider(s) will win the NLRC or the Pairs either. So be shocked! -
OK, so given that Birmingham, Eastbourne and Kent are nailed on for the play-off's, the remaining question is who, between Belle Vue and Cradley will be the 4th team, and I suspect that the cut-off may play a part in this. The remaining fixtures are: Cradley (source - Cradley's web site) Mon 19 Kent - Home Fri 23 Belle Vue - Away Belle Vue (source - Belle Vue's web site) Fr 16th Coventry - Away Sun 18th Eastbourne - Away Fri 23rd Cradley Home Sun 25th Coventry - Away I suspect that the Belle Vue web site has an error as Coventry are listed twice. There is nothing in the BSPA fixture list for Belle Vue on 25th September, so I'm going to discount this unless news is forthcoming about another new fixture that's not been announced yet So, my predictions are that Cradley will beat Kent at home (=3 points) but will lose away at Belle Vue (0 points) I predict that they will finish their season on 45 points. I may of course be wrong. Belle Vue have according to my reckoning, only have 3 more meetings before the cut-off date. I think they will get 4 points away at Coventry, 3 points from a home win over Cradley, and nothing from their trip to the 50p piece on the south coast. My prediction therefore is that Belle Vue will finish on 25th September on 39 points with 3 fixtures timed-out on. Let me guess, could it possibly be Birmingham v Cradley, and Kent v Eastbourne in the semi-finals?

Teterow and Gustrow are in the heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern though. The linguistic principle also applies to Klein Machnow on the outskirts of Berlin (famed for it's appearance in "Deutschland 83" on TV) These towns are in the heart of what was for hundreds of years considered to be "Prussia". As German and as un-Slavic as you can get. The Germanic pronunciation of the W is usually equivalent of the English V, (with German "V's" being more like English "F's") so phonetically, they should be "TeteroV", "GustroV" etc, but they aren't. Not sure that looking at Nordic languages helps really as the W hardly ever appears outside of words stemming from the English language over there, and I'm told that Swedes and Danes struggle with the W sound (as well as the "ish" sound too - ask a Dane his nationality and he'll tell you that he's "Daniss" !) The explanation I got in Germany was that Germans don't want their places to sound "too Russian". An irony considering that these towns were under the thumb of the Russians during the communistical era when you'd have thought a more "socialistically correct" pronunciation would have been beaten into the people there.

As Kitten2502 has said, avoid coming off Spaghetti Junction onto the Aston Distressway at all costs and go to Junction 7. It is a couple of miles further but several minutes quicker. Crazy but true. Sadly it's been our experience that no matter how well a rider performs elsewhere, there's a jinx on them guesting for Birmingham. Only twice (3 times possibly?) have we had a true #1 performance from our guest for ZW. -
...or in the German language like the W in Gustrow or Teterow, but not in Gorbatschow

The use of the word "mystery" makes it sound like nobody knows what it is...safe to say that the medical practitioners know exactly what it is and are doing their best to treat it. Were it less than 100% genuine, then you can be sure that Graham Drury would have had a sense of humour failure over it. The rest isn't so much of a mystery as simply none of our business.

Brummies V Kent Wed 7th Sep Ko Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
uk_martin replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Looking at the news emerging, this meeting is going to be far from a walk in the park for the Brummies. Still, it should provide for something with a bit more substance than the meetings in past weeks when even with a 6-boy team we've trounced the opposition. This one will be close. Kent could even win. -

Zach was targetting the u19's meeting for his comeback. Hopefully that won't be too soon and he doesn't aggravate the injury in that meeting As for JPB, dunno, And I doubt if his doctors know either as every week it's a case of "he'll be back next week". And every week the medical advice appears to be wrong. Shame as JPB was running into the best form of his season, and he's the bigger of the two losses imho.
