In very important and breaking news on Twitter, the BSPA have tried cheering speedway fans up by asking them to reminisce over the demised Telford Ice meeting that used to grace the winter months. There, I hope everyone is feeling better for that.
-
Technically, it has another 2 weeks or so to go before that can be called a lie. Let's hope for continued clement weather to avoid unwanted delays.
-
How ironic then that the BSPA lump the two together in the National League.
-
It's not KKS but it is KKS's long lost cousin...

A summary of the problems: Coventry - last rites being administered Belle Vue - No new promoters in sight. Swindon - No construction work under way on the site of their new stadium Leicester - No team Time running out 2 months to get things fixed. Best of luck to all concerned in keeping the sinking ship afloat.

Wait a minute. Pairman was the "unfavoured" option. Him withdrawing should have made the job of selecting a "favoured" candidate a lot easier, shoudn't it? Surely we haven't got to the stage where the "favoured" candidates are getting cold feet, thinking that Pairman knew something to put him off the deal, that is making them nervous now, have we? Is this like Dragons Den, when all the dragons are umming and arrring, til one of them says "I'm out" and then they all follow suit with their own "I'm out's"?

One source in denial, and 3 or 4 other sources quoted by people on previous pages that confirm the same thing. So on the balance of probabilities...??? The thing is, that one simple tweet by either Coventry Bees or the BSPA (it's the same people who do it for both at the end of the day) to the effect that all Coventry riders have safe jobs to look forward to, would quash all the "rumours" eminating from "sources" stone dead in their tracks.

I hope that it's not been snowing too hard in Swindon. I'd hate for there to be anything slowing down the redevelopment of the site. Winters can be hard in the building trade to make progress in, so let's keep fingers crossed for good fortunes, eh?

BIG NEWS! The latest Tweet on the BSPA web site, from no more than 25 minutes ago... "EXACTLY ONE WEEK TO GO until 'Question Time with Keith Chapman' goes live on our Facebook page! Get your questions in! #askkeith" Because that's all that matters today, isn't it?
-
72 hours ago there were rumours of "an announcement in 48 hours".... The BSPA / Speedway Star / AP Media / GhostSpeed International must be working flat out with this one then to make it so good that it'll make the latest tweets of Donald Trump pale into insignificance in comparison.
-
Where does this leave Buster Chapman and the denizens of the BSPA Press and PR conglomorate? All we had was a tweet the other day saying "stick around, more information later". Is a tweet of less than 155 characters all that the fans of Coventry Speedway are worth to the sport?
-
Not forgetting the former co-promoter at Kings Lynn and former BSPA Management Committee member (2011 or so) and the employer of the dodgiest electricians around the Norfolk Area too (pre-visit of the Brummies in 2010) to add to his CV too.

Are you saying that Rule #26 applies? Maybe they should stick to rule #2? (and I see Speedway Star are featured in rule #4 lol)

The more there are from Coventry itself, or from "out of town" then the less the contribution from the people of Rugby, which only reinforces the point. That technicality goes to the wind when your political opponent says, "VOTE FOR ME, I'll spend more on the Social Care, on Schools and on the Roads, instead of on Brandon Stadium". And in the end, to these councilors, political survival is paramount.
-
Well let's just suppose the fairy godmother gives you the millions you think you need to buy the land that the stadium sits on from Brandon Estates, it only needs an objection from any one of a number of sources for a Public Enquiry to be required by law. Any idea what Public Enquiries cost?...er, IN ADDITION to the cost of the land purchase...??? Than there's the time factor. Very rarely will a CPO bring home the bacon in under 3+ years. No way is this the solution to getting the Coventry Bees on track in 8-10 weeks time. The population of Rugby is over 70,000. On a good day, the Bees will pack in 2000 (I think I may be being a bit generous with that guess too). So, that's 1 in 35 of the population, or 2.86% as a percentage. Let's get real, if the Speedway Party stood for election in Rugby, they would be wiped out by the Liberal Democrats and even the Green Party (2.9% at the last General Election)

1. Why should the people of Rugby who don't give a hoot about speedway be inflicted with the financial burden of bailing out the Coventry Bees? 2. From the RUGBY Borough Council Tax Payers perspective, wouldn't THEIR taxes be better spent on social care for THEIR elderly? Or education for THEIR kids, or repairing the pot holes in THEIR streets, rather than on propping up a failed COVENTRY speedway team?

Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
uk_martin replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
Just seen the post on Facebook...and his pic...he's old enough to shave (but doesn't) - that almost makes him one of the elder statesmen at the youthful Brummies team, doesn't it? -
Can't get the SS in the Yew Tree Shopping Village in Wooton Wawen...what's going on?
-
I read now that Cllr Stokes is considering a Compulsory Purchase Order for the stadium.
-
Bear in mind that once upon a time they were the Brandon Bees...there's nothing about Coventry that is sacrosanct.

You'd need a motorised satellite dish (or one dish pointing at the satellite beaming down Sky channels and another that beams down the Polish TV) In addition you'd need the appropriate decoder. Some decoders require cards, and others obtain their decryption off the internet. You'd need about £400-£500 if you were starting from scratch, to get all the hardware set up. After that though, with the right set-up, and with the "right" (hem, hem) decoder, you can use online decryption (about €100pa including UK stations), and cancel your Sky subscription, and save a whole packet of money. during the course of the year. The hardware is a "one-off" purchase, so future years become even cheaper. No more or no less legal than the KODI alternative that people keep referring to, but with a guaranteed FULL HD resolution on the Polish sports TV station on your big TV, rather than a matchbox sized video on your PC screen.

If 10,000 people went through the turnstiles at Brandon on a regular basis instead of writing to Rugby Council, I doubt whether we'd be in this position now. If I were Councillor Stokes, and I had to spend a disproportionate amount of time sorting this mess out, I'd insist that the team bear the name of the town that's doing the sorting out. What's Coventry Council done to deserve the Bee's name? Far better that they become the Rugby (insert preferred name here) than maintain the name of the neighbouring authority.

This one? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Belle-Vue-Aces/108097405885861?ref=br_rs

Worst case scenario, and speedway does not return to Belle Vue...then what? Does the story get buried?

I'm optimistic that we might get a white Christmas this year.
