  1. As I said, some people won't care. The way I look at it is that if they have a cavalier (& possibly illegal - GDPR and all that) attitude towards personal & data security, what sort of password protects the database that your credit card information will be stored on? "12345" by any chance? or just "password".? By all means, take a chance on them...I won't be.
  2. An example.... Some people might not care, but to an information harvester and an identity thief, this is GOLD! And you think that I'm going to be entrusting my credit card information with a web site that is so cavalier with people's personal information? Think again.
  3. i'll wait until they accept cash at the door. I had a look at that ticketing web site, and if they are splashing people's names and booking information on their web site, then that's a GDPR nightmare waiting to explode. I'm not trusting my credit card details to a web site with such a cavalier attitude to personal data protection.
  4. I have an open mind on the matter until there is evidence to support one theory or another. However it's not the first time that there's been a mysterious bout of vandalism. Was the last time in 2018 or 2019 which caused a meeting to be postponed just at the time when one of the Brummies riders was unable to be in the country to fulfill the fixture, or something like that? Not that it will ever be admitted of course. Ever since Buster & Jonathan Chapman were allowed to get away with that mysterious electrical fault that caused their home fixture against the Brummies to be postponed in 2010, I've had a healthy doubt about calamities of convenience in the world of speedway.
  5. This "NEW LOOK for the Star" thread has been going since 2018. How many new looks has it had in that time?
  6. Really? Not that I've seen, and I walk past the place on a daily basis. What I do see though are a significant number of 24h site security personnel from the adjacent construction sites constantly in the area. If I was a vandal looking at torching some laid-up vehicles, this wouldn't have been my first choice place to do it, Also on the subject of what's been explained before, apparently insurance CAN be obtained for fire and vandalism for business plant and machinery. At least two contributors to another thread say that they could have arranged it. But hey ho. Who needs to pay the premiums when the Go-Fund-Me Insurance Company will bail you out of a crisis?
  7. Seen in Social Media... "Fans discussing Swindon Speedway's future, then THIS happened..."
  8. And there's a massive potential for fraud. With all but 9 Premier League riders doubling up in the Championship, of course they are all claim that they are coming for their PL teams' fixtures.
  9. Speedway Star reporters aren't there to investigate though are they? They just copy and paste the press releases that the BSPZzz and the club press officers hand out to them. Rocking the boat would be more than their jobs are worth.
  10. I can just imagine the process... Speedway Star Reporter: Hello Mr Hancock, can I ask you some questions please? Bill Hancock: No. Speedway Star Reporter: Oh, OK then...Bye.
  11. I wonder if that's going to make a difference though? Looking at how the next crop of Aussies like Jaimon Lidsey and now Frazer Bowes are choosing to base themselves in Poland or Germany so that they can more easily hop between EU countries and their teams in Germany, Poland, Denmark and Sweden, being based in the UK could actually be a hindrance to them, no matter how easy it is to get to the UK. Having an easy entrance into a dead end street doesn't get you anywhere.
  12. Or at the very least some further investigative reporting by the Speedway Star to find the answers that their readership want to hear???
  13. If you or GWC can sort Speedway fan out an insurance policy for the replacement equipment, I'm sure that the premium can be funded out of another GoFundMe appeal.
  14. With the CCTV and 24 hour security patrols that the adjacent construction site employs, I'm astounded that any vandals would want to be anywhere near Perry Barr right now. It takes their state of mindlessness to another level.
  15. Maybe Iwade/Sittingbourne, Isle of Wight Lydd and Weymouth could come together with some French, Italian and Spanish teams and form the European Super League?
  16. That'd be interesting to see how that works....how many speedway riders that will be commuting from the continent have been vaccinated? Birmingham's Italian and two Germans, for example? Germany hasn't even started to vaccinate it's under-70's yet. What chance a speedway rider in his 20's?
  17. Travel within the EU is a different thing to travelling outside of the EU. Especially to/from countries with their own bespoke virus variants. And here we face another of those anomalies. UK restrictions mean that people can cross borders for "work". HOWEVER, those same regulations also permit "ELITE Sportspeople" to travel too. Not just any old sportsperson, just the elite ones. (thus "work" and "sport" are counted as two different things) So yes, an international footballer will count as an elite sportsperson. But a 2nd division player (of any sport), coming over to do his stuff in front of only a few hundred fans? I don't think that the border authorities will count that as an "Elite" sportsperson. I may be wrong, but I won't be holding my breath.
  18. It's been going up lately as are their intentions to lockdown the country further. Not to mention that they are light years behind us with their vaccinations.
  19. Is that actually an answer to the question that you quoted?
  20. Thanks for that. Didn't know he had Danish commitments. There's still the matter of crossing the borders to get to and from Germany (home matches for Wittstock) and Poland (Wittstock's away matches), and those two countries are starting their third wave with the virus, so let's wait and see how that pans out.
  21. Exactly... According to https://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/8778/riss-blow-for-kings-lynn Riss will be riding in the Polish league for his German team (Wittstock) as well as in Sweden for Rospiggarna. Add in the UK, and if no other borders are crossed on his travels, then that's 4 country's worth of rules and regulations to contend with in respect of quarantine / travel restrictions. If the situation doesn't improve and if the rules don't ease up, then this young chap is going to spend a lot of time in quarantine. Any word from the BSPZzz about what "facilities" are available for riders missing meetings because of Covid-related travel restrictions / delays? Any advance on being stuck with a 3-point NL reserve?
