  1. Still alive...and no that forum is nothing to do with me.
  2. Yes please. I'll put your name on a can/bottle in return. Be good to be able to say hello if you are going to Tampere! Nah, what I can't drink I'll have to carry...so it'll have to be drunk lol.
  3. Last time in Sweden (Malilla) we got some nice bottles of imported German Pils at Lidl, at what we would call "Lidl prices" rather than "Swedish prices". Obviously from the information above, they would have been 3.5% proof or less, but they tasted nice and we thought that they were very good value for money. Thanks for the tips though. €15 for 24 cans really would be a good deal, even in the UK! Would be happy with that. Doesn't the ferry stop off at Mariehamm? Are there advantages to using it's tax haven status for getting even cheaper beer?
  4. Hi Matt Hope that life in Helsinki is good. Do they still have the Helsinki ex-pats v Stockholm e-pats cricket match in the summer in that park just north of the city centre? I got roped into that once in my youth/backpacking days lol I'll be with some friends (Mr & Mrs Brummiestormer) and doing the Finnish SGP a little differently to most. We are flying into Sweden on the Thursday, then going to see Gripana v Lejonen on the Thursday night before sailing into Helsinki on the Silja Line ferry on Friday night (arriving Sat morning). We are hiring a car to drive to Tampere before reversing the journey on the Sunday, and catching Indianerna v Elit Vetlanda on the Tuesday before flying home on the Wednesday. Be grateful if you can let us know if there is anything we need to know, e.g. important things like where there are Aldi / Lidl stores where we can top up our stocks of beer etc. Thanks Martin
  5. Great to see the big Red B featuring prominently on the new race suit again!
  6. Speedway Star has learned as other have to their cost, you don't mess with the establishment. It's their way or no way.
  7. Open to far too much abuse. How do you govern what average the team/squad is built up to? What happens if your only 7 available riders for a fixture exceed the team average limit?
  8. OR - we might find an increase in the number of motorised satellite installations amongst speedway fans, and decoders that show the foreign versions of Eurosport (and all the Polish TV stations too, come to that) - all in wonderful HD!
  9. Is there a bookmaker that is still offering odds on the Turbo Twins? This competition seems tailor made for Ward/Holder to clean up...be it in Australia or Torun colours.
  10. Brummies_Ste isn't a "Poole hater". He simply "pirates'n'pastes" (see, Poole have to get in there somewhere don't they?) off other web sites. Sounds like Google Translate is at it again. The guy's names are actually "Erik Pudel" "Erik Riss" and "Mark Riss" ("Riss" can equally be translated to "rip" "tear" "crevice" "fissure" and others), but don't let Google ruin a good laugh for you...the same Google Translate that turns Seb Ulamek into Seb Fractions, Adrian Cyfer into Adrian Digits and Dawid Lampart into David Leopard!
  11. I'm sure we wish him a speedy recovery...just like we did to Mr Miskowiak, last Monday!
  12. Only 8 more days to go and it will all be over! Unless you are a Belle Vue, Eastbourne or Peterborough fan of course...they have to hold out a bit longer.
  13. AP Media provide web space and hosting to all speedway clubs on their server as part of their contract with the BSPA. It's not something that is charged for in the way that mobile phones are charged for. There is no question about the web space not having been paid for.
  14. OK, fair enough. I come from the Linux /Apache side of the world and as a customer and not a reseller / server administrator. Glad that we have someone with Plesk experience here who can help out with honest comment.
  15. Or the flicking of a switch on a control panel...don't forget that the "favicon" was still in the browser's address bar, so the files were still there, but being blocked from being accessed.
  16. According to Google Analytics, the Brummies site peaked on Monday between 11am - 12noon with 227 unique visitors. Hour by hour the numbers then declined 187, 147, 145...until by the time that the meeting started, when everyone interested in Birmingham Speedway was either in the stadium or watching telly, the number fell to just 4 between 7pm and 8pm, rising to a "threatening" 27 between 10pm and 11pm In terms of page views...the figures are in proportion with the peak "page views" being 584 between 11am and 12noon. I was able to use the web site as sweet as a nut in my lunch break. I have no idea why the site should cause the server to wobble later in the evening. I did sort of wonder who our web audience would be on match night. Who would tune into a static web site that had no live coverage of the meeting when they could be at the stadium or watching telly? I can understand Speedway Updates or BSF getting busier, but not the Brummies site. There's nothing on it at 9pm that isn't there at 6pm. Folks, you are the web-visiting audience...do you visit a club's web site during a meeting?
  17. So has our web site on occasions... Don't think that Coventry are on their own in that regard.
  18. It's not been a bad old year has it? We've knocked Wolves out of the Play-Off's, Coventry are wooden Spoonists. Local pride has been satisfied. Now the Brummies are flying the flag for everyone north of Wimborne Minster, west of Lytchett Minster, East of Parkstone and south of Brownsea Island. I'm sure that the team will do their best and whatever the result, against all the odds, and against "the establishment", it's a proud time to be a Brummie. It'll be an uphill, herculean task to beat the Pirates, and I'm sure that there will be some "fun and games" along the way. I just hope that everyone not dressed in blue black and white can keep the faith that sometimes, just occasionally the "David's" do sleigh the "Goliath's".
  19. On the other hand if you follow the Lord Mayor's Twitter account, he's suggesting a Civic Reception for the Brummies.
  20. Not so much "crashed" as deliberately switched off by the people who "look after it" on behalf of the BSPA. Apparently the flow of traffic to the Brummies site was overworking their server so much that we became a threat to the usability of other team's web sites...like...well...pick a name...
  21. Meanwhile while we wait on Sky again, my criticism was not of Tai but of Adams and CVS. Today's tactical influenza only reinforces my dismay at their antics.
  22. Robert Miskowiak seems to have come down with a convenient bout of Tactical Flu. R/R in his place. Saint Peter and Saint Christopher doing what's in the best interests of British Speedway again I wonder.
  23. And as I pointed out, it will depend on how the referee judges rolling starts as to how effective he will be tonight. Those zeros in his score charts are where he didn't get rollers in the Belle Vue meetings. "All or nothing" scores like this are indicative of "Gating Tarts" and "Rizzlers" the latter of which is an apt description of the situation here. Nice to see that he can afford to travel to Birmingham and be a guest for the Wolves. Makes a change from him trying to pull out of the GB team earlier in the year on cost grounds.
