Can Nicki Get 6?
D.I.G. replied to home straight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
How can Nicky Pedersen fail to win more world titles, with Olsen preparing the tracks just how he likes them. Nicky not so hot on one off tracks, it still smells a bit that the German GP turned out a fiasco. Funny how it has all been swept under the carpet, Olsen must take the ultimate blame, as he is aledgedly in charge of track preperation. I don,t think Crumpy will win another title, unless he gets off to a good start in the first few GPs. he didn,t seem to have the same drive this year, and last night he didn,t seem really interested. I don, t know what has been wrong with his equipment this year, he has often appeared to lack power. As has been said Andersen probably is the nearest challenger, but sometimes lacks the consistancy to be a regular winner at GP level. Gollob would be a threat if all the Gps were on big regular used tracks, and Adams and Hancock are both too old now, great riders that they are. It will be a while before some young upstart emerges to upset the status quo. -
I too cannot see BSI not nominating at least one British rider, but if we only have one representative rider it will be a long long while before we get any more, such is the sparecity of quality British riders. I don,t see the situation changing, too comfortable in the Premier league.

Swc Round 2 Coventry 14th July
D.I.G. replied to skid row's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A truly abysmal performance from Team GB, how naive can the riders be. again they were bleating about the track being different from when they practiced around it. They should realise by now it always is, and will usually be slick as a board on the actual race day. How can they all have their set ups wrong, Denmark were spot on from the start, and Sweden soon adjusted to be competative. All around team GB lacks the talent at the top level. Nichols rarely performs as he can at league level, Harris bless him cant gate for toffee, but gives all, Richardson is too up and down, and appears to lack any motivation, Stead should never be racing at this level, just not good enough, and Allen tried hard, but lets face it, is a very good second string at league level at best. We have to accept that at this time we dont have the riders with the ability to compete at this level, perhaps as some have said in 2-3 years time we may, with the right coaching and leadership. I would love Team GB to perform well in the Semi in Denmark, but thats my heart but, my head says we will fail again. Still hope runs eternal, at least thats what they say. -

"God Save The queen " is a dirge and should be replaced, with something more inspirational. I have been told that as we ride as Team GB and not England, we have to put up with it. Why we are Team GB when there are no other riders of either Scots, Welsh or Northern Irish , as far as I am aware, in the side I dont know, perhaps one of our more informed fans could explain , as it used to be that we rode as England. I feel sure Scotland could put a team together that would beat Italy or Hungary. -
World Cup Format - Not Team Racing?
D.I.G. replied to Ashie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It is a sad state of affairs on this Forum, I am afraid mate that some of the members on here resort to name calling and insults or rolleyes when they can,t win a discussion, with little clique,s of knowalls ganging up on individuals, you must remember the old adage some are more equal than others. Just keep posting my friend, have your say, and to hell with them. -

What a magnificent and exciting event, with Crumpy coming out the deserved winner (though I will admit to being a tad biased) . At last a track that Olsen couldn,t prepare as his usual slick and hard borefest, I don,t like seeing riders getting injured ,but you have to admit the track lead to some entertaining incidents. Did anyone wonder why Hans A. chose gate 3 in the Semi as gate 4 had consistantly been the better gate, could it have been something to do with the fact that Nikki P. had the last pick. Talking of Nikki P. you have to admit he brings out the reactions from the fans, particularly his conning of the Ref. when he had missed the starts, but credit to him getting his bike off the track in the final, as the fall wasn,t self induced, and he probably was hurting. The music choice was great, I still wonder why we English have to put up with the Dirge of the National Anthem instead of the arousing Land of Hope and Glory, the P.C. brigade again no doubt, no wonder we win so little in International events. Feel sorry for Scotty he always seems to make a cock up , when the pressure is on, and Bomber showed true Britt Grit in getting up and carrying on, not like the mamby pamby football stars. Thank you again Cardiff for providing a superb piece of entertainment, Please Please dont the the we want Wembley brigade win out over the British G. P. or better still let us have two G.Ps. with one of them at the end of the competition. -
Final Gp, From Germany
D.I.G. replied to Steve Turner's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
What an awful track, if it hadn,t been for the money this was the most boring GP yet. When are they going to get rid of Ole Olsen as race director and his substandard tracks. Always you get the same story a completely different track from practice to the actual meeting. Always slick as a board, why dosn,t he just lay Tarmack. Why do we get a meaningless GP at Cardiff, always in June and one that desides nothing. Surely with the biggest crowd we shoud get one near the end , or if they have another big money one , get that. Also we only get one GP meeting whereas Poland gets at least two, if not three. Do we really need more Gp meetings overall next year, I think 6 meetings would be adequate to decide the World Champion,it looses a lot of its interest when there are so many. The Gp,s don,t do the Speedway in this country any favours, it wouldn,t bother me if there were no Gp riders in our leagues, gets rid of all those guests, and dubious sick notes . Most of them are gate and go merchants, with better equipment than the rest of the team. you would get far better balanced teams, with riders regularly turning out for their teams and not missing meetings. How Eastbourne fans put up with it I dont know. -
"Bomber" reminds me of another Chris, Chris Morton with his inability to gate, and the sweeps around the outside of other riders.I think he will have the same problems as Morty did, up against a top class field of "Gaters" on tracks that do not lend themselves to wide sweeps, but for sheer excitement give me a non gating tart any day. Well done Bomber, even though you ride for Coventry.
