Can anyone please comfirm the start time of the German GP?? It says 17,00hrs on the ticket website but that seems a lot earlier than the normal GP start times and Iam assuming thats C.E.T which would make it 16,00hrs GMT. Can anyone clarify? Many thanks -

Workington/Torun Zuzel replied to Workington/Torun Zuzel's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Many thanks Spiegal, thats a big help. Do you plan to stay Thurs/Fri night in Riga, Sat night in Daugavpils then fly back on Sunday?? And will you do a Manchester departure?? Many thanks again -
Thinking of going to Daugavpils for the 2007 Latvian GP assuming Travel Tours Plus will be organizing a trip. Can anyone who went with them there last year tell me if you got much time to spend in Riga? Did you stay in the capital just the one night ?? Any help would be much appreciated. At least this year they should have warmer weather!!

Hope the rumours of a return to Germany for the Grand Prix championship in 2007 prove to be correct. Ive always thought Germany should be an automatic choice for a GP as it has one of the biggest bikesport followings in Europe and speedway has a long tradition there with some very loyal supporters. If the Auf Schalke Arena in Gelsenkirchen is the venue we will see speedway staged in possibly Europe's finest stadium Here's hoping B.S.I confirm it soon and we can start booking our trip!!!!

Peter Ingmar Karlsson
Workington/Torun Zuzel replied to Workington/Torun Zuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
P.I.K did ride a couple of meetings for Workington in 2003 in place of Simon Stead but his last ride at Derwent Park was in the ill-fated 2004 season opener between Comets and Valsarna His cool, classy riding style and laid back Swedish character made him a firm favourite at Derwent Park. I think the main reason he decided not to return to the Comets was both the birth of their baby and also a change in the airline schedules which made it difficult to get to and from Workington when he wanted to spend more time with his family. Be great to see P.I.K back in Cumbria one day though.... Thanks for all the great memories mate!! -
Do any of our Swedish members know if the ex-Comets and Valsarna rider Peter I Karlsson is still riding speedway?? He got a bad concussion in the 2004 season opener at Workington while riding for the Valsarna touring team but I don't know if he ever properly recovered. I havent seen any mentions of him in the Speedway Star reports on Swedish League meetings. Any info on Peter would be most welcome.... Many thanks

Latvia Speedway
Workington/Torun Zuzel replied to Workington/Torun Zuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
Many thanks speedway friend for all the help, I can understand Russian cyrilic alphabet and the other sites are even better with English translation!!! Latvia looks like a beautiful country and Riga a very attractive city. Looking forward to a possible visit sooner rather than later Best wishes to all Latvia speedway supporters, hope the sport will continue to grow and perhaps some more tracks open Wonder if Kjastas Poudzhuks will get wild card for Latvian GP? or maybe it will be Russian Gafurov or Darkin?? -
Hi, Can anyone recommend a website where I can find info on Latvian Speedway with contains a detailed fixtures list and maybe a map showing where the stadium is in Daugavpils?? Also does anyone know if the GP host city is easily accessible from Riga? What are the rail and bus links like?? Where can I find out more about the city of Daugavpils itself? Many thanks in advance!!!!

Hi there Tommy in Zielona Gora(former team of Workington's Carl Stonehwer!!), you can order it for £7,99 from Play.com. Not sure of the postal costs to Poland but I got my copy delivered free in the UK. The DVD also contains an interesting documentary of about 15mins about the making of the film and again it features a bit of speedway. Think you will enjoy it, it comes with Slovenijan dialog and English subtitles. Also features in the movie some old footage of Yugoslav speedway in the Tito period(1970s/1980s ??). Maybe some Slovenijan fans can identify it. You see Speedway virtually from the start of the movie
