Kings Lynn V Swindon - 26/05/16
stevehone replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
thing is, Troy is Troy, you know what you're getting with him whoever he rides for. we knew at Kings Lynn 10 years ago what he was like, kicking his bike when it packed up etc, but he has a side to him that can be brilliant on track, and hopefully Rob Lyon can coax that out of him on a regular basis. Troy can be a world beater around the Adrian Flux Arena, and with his most staunch supporters sponsoring the club I really think he'll do well once he gets back into things -

Riders Who Never Quite Fulfilled Their Full Potential
stevehone replied to steve roberts's topic in Years Gone By
how good would Ronnie Moore have been if he put his mind to it and wasn't just interested in enjoying himself. how many titles would Ivan Mauger have if he hadn't been a flop in 1957 how good would some of the Eastbourne riders of the 80s have been if they weren't at Eastbourne? it seemed they always had great prospects, but they then went backwards or slower than they should have -

2016 Speedway Gp Qualifiers
stevehone replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I honestly don't think the track was bad last night, fast times early on proved that, I just felt that racing got very spread out very fast as there was a big gap in quality in many races. -

had a chat with Stokes last night at Kings Lynn, he's definitely up for the challenge -
nah, not interested

not a problem John, I can't say I've ever heard of you as a reporter, and I can't recall seeing anything by you even though I get Vintage Speedway Magazine and Classic Speedway. I also don't recall you being a photographer at the track even though I was first taken to Wimbledon in 1967 aged 6 weeks, and was a regular until 1991, home and away through my teens included. but that doesn't bother me, what bothers me is your constant sniping at speedway and comparisons to stock cars. my background in speedway doesn't go as far as writing about it I'm afraid, but I always got on well with management involved at Wimbledon, I used to go to the speedway office during my lunch breaks from work just for a chat with Maido. also, both my parents and grandparents worked at the stadium, and when Ivan Mauger came over in 1957 there was a family that pretty much looked after him and Raye while they were here the first time, but you'll need to read Ivan's autobiography and John Chaplin's book on Ivan to find out who that was. It was Ivan that got me riding, on the Hyde Road track during a New Zealand practice for a Commonwealth Final there, so no, I don't have any background whatsoever

'cried off' or injured? -
unfortunately, the Wimbledon thread was ruined at the start
-
the problem really is the person that started the thread .. I'm sure he'll be pushing for all his 4 wheel driving friends to attend as that's where his priorities lay. I was born in Wimbledon, attended from a very early age, and kept attending until they closed originally in '91, but I'm not interested in any reunion if John Hyam is involved as I don't want to small talk about stock cars
-
i'll be at Belle Vue on Monday for speedway, no thanks to anything else

I'm leaving at 7am from Holbeach, took just over 2 and a half hours last time but with BH you never know what the traffic will be like .. rather be there early and grab a bite to eat than be panicking also, do BV have track covers? -
give people a chance with speedway instead of knocking them, and stick to your 4 wheeled fun. your 'reliable answer' about other sports is likely to be "I don't know about that, but I went to New Cross in 1936"
