had a race winner with Cook, but with no reserves it made it harder .. Cook can only have 5 rides
-
a solid team means you are likely to always have a good reserve with any of the top 6 able to swap positions .. with teams coming to Peterborough and winning I think they all had a strong reserve which made the difference

but wasn't this rained off earlier in the season?

the thing is, we are constantly seeing the ELRC etc decimated because riders can't be bothered or whatever, and we're told that if it was National League riders would jump at chances of being in the big meetings, same as if the track is a bit iffy and the EL riders won't ride, we're told that the NL riders will just get on with it. With the forecast I've seen for tomorrow it will be interesting that's for sure.

in 1976 the equivalent of the PL was called the NL

I did put about getting home around 9, that's with roughly an hour to get home included. I know there are quite a few younger children that enjoy going to the showground, there is plenty of space to run around, and usually a bouncy castle, so to have them left at home would be a shame.
-
that's a shame, I was hoping it would go back to the 3 or 3.30 starts we had last year. with a 5 start it still makes it a bit of a later finish and not ideal for bringing the younger children, something we really need to be looking at to get the children hooked and keep wanting to come. with a 5 start we'll be looking at getting home around 9, and that's too late when there's school on the Monday

Sunday night meetings, or Sunday afternoon??

isn't Zach rather busy on Sundays with grass/longtrack?

it's not my money being spent on riders so I won't give any opinion regarding a 1 - 7, Ged will look after the club with a good team within the budget I'm sure, but IF it was my money, I think I would be looking at basing the team around Kenneth Hansen and Kyle Newman. Going back to the successful times at Kings Lynn in the Premier League, they always had a strong engine room and a great team bond, and it was these that ultimately brought trophies. With the averages of Kenneth and Kyle, they would be an amazing engine room

I think BSI need to invest in the type of fence used by Kings Lynn, it's not an airfence and doesn't lift when hit -
pretty disrespectful to call NL riders 'wobblers', everyone starts somewhere and deserve a chance to progress

it's why I keep saying I don't care who rides here, as long as they're committed to riding here -
so why do you constantly tell certain people to get off the Poole threads and back on their own?

speedway isn't necessarily the problem, 4 riders doing 4 laps, the fundamental product is great, but the things that are pushing people away are the rules and the way things are run. I dislike double up/down, I dislike guest riders, but I have to acknowledge that they are a necessary evil in the sport these days as the clubs need riders to put on a meeting and there isn't enough to go around for the number of clubs we have for everyone to have a squad. we need the AGM to look at the riders that are pretty much holding the sport in this country to ransom, leave them out of the teams, and go with the riders that want to ride here. we need to get back to basics and work from there, if we don't then the sport will implode and become something along the lines of the current grasstrack setup with very few clubs and irregular fixtures. teams need to limit the cost of flying riders in/out for all the meetings, there isn't the money in the sport to keep doing it. I've been volunteering at a couple of clubs for a few years and every now and again things happen that make me wonder what the hell I'm doing still going, but then I see the racing at Peterborough which is 4 laps of pure adrenalin, and I realise how lucky I am. And I don't want to lose that feeling

has a point though .. when I broke both wrists and an arm at Canterbury in 1987 having both arms in plaster you REALLY do find out who your friends are!! -
