  1. so Poole officials are hedging their bets before the club has to close for a year or two
  2. tell you what, why don't we not bother about a future with the sport, just spend loads of money on getting the biggest names and have a 55 pt average, the crowds will come flocking back and there won't be any financial issues at any club .. job done
  3. it'll bottom out when the clubs can no longer afford to pay rider demands and we are left with nothing .. unless we get back to basics and people accept it then there's no chance
  4. a lot of the time on promises, won't last
  5. I'm sure we'll find out when it all goes pop, but I just don't want that happening in THIS country, I love the sport too much
  6. first taken to Wimbledon at 6 weeks old in 1967 and been going ever since with a small break when they closed and moved to Eastbourne. I was riding by then though so was at Canterbury every week. When Wimbledon were running I went to Wimbledon, Hackney, Canterbury, and Rye House most weeks.
  7. I just put this on the Peterborough thread, but it pretty much fits in with all leagues. "I wouldn't call it diluted, I'd call it sustainable, and that is what all the tracks need to be looking at or there's no way to build from anything else" The people moaning that we are losing top riders from the league have to realise it before it's too late, it's the sport that matters, not seeing riders fleece the clubs of everything.
  8. I wouldn't call it diluted, I'd call it sustainable, and that is what all the tracks need to be looking at or there's no way to build from anything else
  9. hotel and flights booked for this, looking forward to it
  10. I'd have Kenneth back. last rider Porsing/Jakobsen, both have the potential to top score at times how about Olly Allen & Dale Allitt as joint team managers?
  11. so I reckon King, Lambert, K Bjerre, Rose, Kerr, Iversen + one other??
  12. I wasn't after the averages, I was after what the opposition reserves scored at the Showground - and I've had a look .... v Somerset KOC - Jake Allen 9+1 v Somerset PL - BWD 8+1 v Edinburgh PL - Bewley 10+2 This is what makes the difference, when Peterborough lose at home it's generally helped on it's way by a big hitting reserve in the opposition.
  13. they did, just consistency was missing. Ulrich, Tofty, Busk, Simon, they all had good meetings and bad, and that's why the engine room is so important. as I mentioned before, when Kings Lynn were dominant in the PL they had a middle order that could be relied on a winning mentality will spread also, and it will pull along the lesser riders .. there's a winning mentality at the top, it NEEDS to filter through 1 - 7. the track needs to be made for the worst riders in the team to ride, the rest will cope
  14. had a race winner with Cook, but with no reserves it made it harder .. Cook can only have 5 rides
  15. a solid team means you are likely to always have a good reserve with any of the top 6 able to swap positions .. with teams coming to Peterborough and winning I think they all had a strong reserve which made the difference
  16. basically the whole of this situation is down to politicians getting things wrong and not understanding what 'normal' people want. and if you think we're screwed, wait until USA have their election - the world will be screwed
  17. but wasn't this rained off earlier in the season?
  18. the thing is, we are constantly seeing the ELRC etc decimated because riders can't be bothered or whatever, and we're told that if it was National League riders would jump at chances of being in the big meetings, same as if the track is a bit iffy and the EL riders won't ride, we're told that the NL riders will just get on with it. With the forecast I've seen for tomorrow it will be interesting that's for sure.
  19. in 1976 the equivalent of the PL was called the NL
  20. I did put about getting home around 9, that's with roughly an hour to get home included. I know there are quite a few younger children that enjoy going to the showground, there is plenty of space to run around, and usually a bouncy castle, so to have them left at home would be a shame.
  21. that's a shame, I was hoping it would go back to the 3 or 3.30 starts we had last year. with a 5 start it still makes it a bit of a later finish and not ideal for bringing the younger children, something we really need to be looking at to get the children hooked and keep wanting to come. with a 5 start we'll be looking at getting home around 9, and that's too late when there's school on the Monday
  22. isn't Zach rather busy on Sundays with grass/longtrack?
