Speedway World Cup 2017
stevehone replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
even more disturbing that BSI had to pay rather a lot of money just 2 weeks or so before the SWC this year just to make sure it went ahead!! I'm thinking that might have a bearing on the decision -
I would imagine it's more likely because BSI had to bail out Belle Vue before the SWC could go ahead this year!! I doubt they have had to bail Kings Lynn out
-
do you know who the team is then, or are you saying that because Lasse hasn't signed?
-
don't treat some of them too well though according to sponsors themselves! also wondering why Rick & Julie haven't stayed too long

What Makes A Good Team Manager?
stevehone replied to Bigballs's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I could definitely mention a few things that DOESN'T make a good team manager -
thought that was Scunny?
-
because of paying over the odds maybe?
-
we had a number 1 in Cook, meetings were lost through no reserves .. as Nigel Pearson always says on Sky, a reserves points count towards the final score **edit** we actually had 2 number 1s when Bjerre rode, but the bottom end was still missing and look how it ended
-
that has to be the case, if they're not ready at this AGM with it being both EL & PL it only leaves NL
-
so Poole officials are hedging their bets before the club has to close for a year or two
-
tell you what, why don't we not bother about a future with the sport, just spend loads of money on getting the biggest names and have a 55 pt average, the crowds will come flocking back and there won't be any financial issues at any club .. job done
-
it'll bottom out when the clubs can no longer afford to pay rider demands and we are left with nothing .. unless we get back to basics and people accept it then there's no chance
-
a lot of the time on promises, won't last
-
I'm sure we'll find out when it all goes pop, but I just don't want that happening in THIS country, I love the sport too much
-
first taken to Wimbledon at 6 weeks old in 1967 and been going ever since with a small break when they closed and moved to Eastbourne. I was riding by then though so was at Canterbury every week. When Wimbledon were running I went to Wimbledon, Hackney, Canterbury, and Rye House most weeks.

I just put this on the Peterborough thread, but it pretty much fits in with all leagues. "I wouldn't call it diluted, I'd call it sustainable, and that is what all the tracks need to be looking at or there's no way to build from anything else" The people moaning that we are losing top riders from the league have to realise it before it's too late, it's the sport that matters, not seeing riders fleece the clubs of everything.

hotel and flights booked for this, looking forward to it -
I'd have Kenneth back. last rider Porsing/Jakobsen, both have the potential to top score at times how about Olly Allen & Dale Allitt as joint team managers?
-
so I reckon King, Lambert, K Bjerre, Rose, Kerr, Iversen + one other??
-
I wasn't after the averages, I was after what the opposition reserves scored at the Showground - and I've had a look .... v Somerset KOC - Jake Allen 9+1 v Somerset PL - BWD 8+1 v Edinburgh PL - Bewley 10+2 This is what makes the difference, when Peterborough lose at home it's generally helped on it's way by a big hitting reserve in the opposition.
-
how many do/did their reserves score
-
they did, just consistency was missing. Ulrich, Tofty, Busk, Simon, they all had good meetings and bad, and that's why the engine room is so important. as I mentioned before, when Kings Lynn were dominant in the PL they had a middle order that could be relied on a winning mentality will spread also, and it will pull along the lesser riders .. there's a winning mentality at the top, it NEEDS to filter through 1 - 7. the track needs to be made for the worst riders in the team to ride, the rest will cope
