  1. that gold bike sat in my dads garage at home for a couple of years in bits. dad & Ivan went up to Donington to the old speedway museum where the bike had been loaned with strict instructions from Ivan not to polish the gold. unfortunately, they kept polishing and it wore the gold plate down so Ivan decided there and then it wasn't staying. the bike was loaded in the car and just unloaded at dads and it stayed until Ivan decided to get it shipped back. i remember staying at Ivan's when i was about 16 or 17 too and sleeping in the same room as the gold bike, winged wheel, and hundreds of trophies - quite a prvilidge
  2. be careful, it was new shale at Kings Lynn last year that caused the fallout
  3. yeah shame about Lewis, going to be difficult getting the right replacement
  4. yep, pretty sure i did. i even sorted tickets for other people too as i worked out how it was done
  5. i paid by debit card .. it's easy when you understand how it works
  6. to me what Kings Lynn and the sport in general is missing is fun. used to be able to go to speedway, have fun, have a drink with the riders in the bar after, and actually feel part of it. the PL days were brilliant, not just because of the trophies, but the atmosphere too, all the themed nights in the summer brought out people dressing up, banner competitions, lots going on, and it was good fun
  7. big bad Brad at Wimbledon, awkward style as so tall, but did ok although rather frustrating
  8. Ivan was MBE also, and very proud he was
  9. 100% agree, but a necessary evil with the lighting how it is at many tracks
  10. i honestly thought it would be called at heat 10, but this was NL and they just want to ride i guess. i thought everyone did well to ride, and well done to everyone for keeping it all moving at a good pace
  11. was one of those relatively simple spins but the hand went out and that was that
  12. getting friendly with the Americans of the time that were 'enjoying' themselves
  13. Yep i remember Anders passing, great shame
  14. for the 'first bend loonies' out there
  15. grew up going to Wimbledon, grandad worked there, mum and dad worked there and met there, i worked just behind in Copper Mill Lane and used to nip round in my lunch hour to chat with Maido, so many memories and that's all being smashed in :/
  16. i preferred the old bigger track in the 80's
  17. the issue i've noticed the last couple of years mainly is that more and more riders are using the neck brace, so whether it's kevlars or race jackets the sponsors are generally covered anyway, as well as team names in some cases. the straps for these braces go over the racejacket/kevlar and it looks pretty nasty so a redesign of where sponsors and team logos go is something that needs looking at
  18. pay no attention to the Poole rider, you should be listening to Starman, he knows best!
  19. shouldn't have to do a bank transfer, there were plenty of options and there were certainly card payment options
