this thread is at the top of the page, you'll notice also that threads for most of the teams that are all announced are slipping down to the bottom because no-one is interested any more, they've had their say, but this one keeps going .....

also one of the nicest people i've ever met through speedway, dear old Lionel Crossley

i used to love it at Wimbledon where all the lights would go off around the stadium and just leave the track lights for the race, great feel about it

Rob Godfrey interview in Speedway Star

if the BSPA pay set rates when paying part of debts, why can't ALL clubs use those same set rates to run? that way clubs can more or less keep to budget allowing for home and away results. if clubs are found to go over the rates then there's a penalty, whether it be league points or position. also riders know that others aren't getting more than them (on a points basis) and might do away with some animosity in the pits. and if a club closes owing riders, they won't be out of pocket because the BSPA will pay that set rate. individual sponsors can make up any shortfall for riders, and if the riders still can't get what they want then maybe the UK isn't for them in a time when ALL clubs need to be stable financially. -

i just posted this on the Peterborough thread ... IF, and it's a big IF, Buster is trying to bring down some pay scales across the board then surely that's a good thing for the future of the sport? it's not a good business model to be paying out more than comes in, no matter who the rider is

back to the day of riders using one bike and the sport being run like grasstrack here i think. too many think the sport can sustain paying extortionate wages. it's not all about the GP riders, as the leagues become weakened then riders of a certain average become the sought after ones and their demands get higher which defeats the object of weakening -

if the weather is good i love to go down on the beach opposite the stadium, there's a bar and it's a great atmosphere. failing that, on the way to the stadium there's bars and restaurants galore
