and confidence is one of the biggest traits in a speedway rider - no confidence in equipment will show in rider body language

any ideas when the Monster sponsorship deal runs to? i know people don't like it but it IS a big name sponsor
-
i was quite vocal that Adam needed replacing .. nice bloke and all that but was a liability away, Webbo couldn't see it and said he'd never go again if they got rid of Adam. the trophies soon flooded in for the PL days including either 2 or 3 trebles
-
reminds me of Adam Allott .. the rest of the team pretty much knew they would be one rider down at away meetings which has a massive affect on the mentality. as soon as Allott was replaced by the fit again Doolan the club started winning trophies

Grand Prix changes
stevehone replied to baiden's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
so they have to change the scoring for SoN too then regarding qualifying, i definitely feel for Mikkelsen, with the extra wildcards it just gives more scope for riders in the World Championship to be chosen around a desk, depending on what country they are from. i love the GPs, but we need unbiased qualifying. After the final GP of the season have the challenge how they started to do it years ago, bottom 8 from GP and 8 qualifiers, top 7 going through -
and i bet i know who would start it

greyhound toilet from what i remember! agree about the track though, made wider could get it back to being one of the best

Ash Holloway engine builder video

it certainly used to be .. i worked for Phil Pratt for a bit around '83 and that's pretty much how it was when he was one of the top tuners, and i've also been to Peter Johns shed in his mums garden -
shame clubs can't think about sorting track surfaces etc with tv money instead of wages, better racing will keep people happy
-
was under the impression Iversen was only doing Poland next year
-
so links with F1, wonder if Robin Brundle gave Buster the heads up?
-
but in the "good old days" doubling up was only a British & Commonwealth thing, now it's anyone

if domestic speedway is to be shown then surely it would make sense to have a highlights show instead of live. with all the moaning and compaints about the live meetings it has to be better to compile the best races from various meetings and show what the sport CAN offer, rather than letting people sit through 2 hours of boredom. if that encourages people to go watch a live meeting there is always the chance they will stay as regulars, any sport is better live

very sad indeed. Ted helped me out a lot at Canterbury and even made his wedding reception after a meeting there. Commiserations to Jeannette and the boys
-
said it before but i think we need to give the domestic season a miss on tv, get the house in order first and then come back to something that doesn't look crap on crap tracks. keep the GP's 100%, it's been a good season again, but the PL, no way
-
no don't watch, that's '87, the track was bloody horrible
-
and it would need setting light when it's low tide

Warsaw GP 2022 Saturday May 14th

neutral track for all the Poles, a time for them to all get together and make a noise .. and they do! -
if i still lived in Surrey Poole would probably be my 'go to' track, even if to chear the opposition. no way they will drop down a league, and if Ford has suggested that then it will just be a different way of putting 'support us or else'. to me, the difference between the leagues this year has been the RACE tracks in the CH. Ok in the PL there is Belle Vue and Peterborough, but in the PL they have excellent RACE tracks in Scunthorpe, Redcar, Somerset, Glasgow and Sheffield. years ago when it was BL & NL, i prefered going to NL because of the British/Commonwealth rules, but as soon as Ronnie Russell did what he did at Rye House with Peter Schroek (top bloke by the way) and Jens Rasmussen, then that was the start of the downfall for speedway in the UK

i'm not sure Josh Grajczonek fits into that category

Grand Prix changes
stevehone replied to baiden's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
i'm guessing this means changes to the SoN scoring system too then? the older 24 rider GP system was incredibly unfair when it came to gate positions, i think Rickardsson, although a brilliant rider, benefited from this system greatly -
