  1. i had a go at speedway, THAT affected my livelihood
  2. he was on Kasprzak's team for a while
  3. born in Wimbledon and lived Raynes Park, New Malden, and Chessington while i rode but despite going for a chat with Maido during my lunch breaks from work at Copper Mill Lane, i never fancied riding for Wimbledon, i knew too many people and that made me conscious of being under those lights. anyway, i had offers off Arena Essex & Canterbury in '86 and not Wimbledon, i didn't get on with Eddie James (Wimbledon Jrs manager) for some reason.
  4. why next year, what about now? never know, he might feel with how it's going in Poland he has to be 100% with that? or, he might be 'asked' not to ride by his Polish club good luck to him i say, he's proving to some of last season's doubters that he does have the talent
  5. i was on the minibus the night this happened
  6. Nicki P is going home between Polish meetings, he gets scanned for the lurgy each time he returns and that's that
  7. i think you're just seeing a rider at the top of his game in Madsen. a MASSIVE part of speedway is confidence, and everyone has their limits to how far they will push. even that very tiny 100th of a second faster into a turn and that adds up over 4 laps. some go that extra because of what's in their head. **edit - and after watching Troy Batchelor last week, my first thought was that his partner is pregnant. Troy is a good rider, you don't just drop like that. i think when he comes to terms with riding while his partner is pregnant, he'll be scoring points again, but he'll need to ride. seen it with plenty of riders, i'm not going to name any more, but has a baby on the way/had a baby, and form dips pretty hard. confidence
  8. needs to be run very much along the lines of IOW and the holiday makers they target
  9. sad news - got to know Maurice (and Wally) when i was at Canterbury
  10. picking up lockdown worth of Star's to read through later off my dad
  11. we're rolling our 7 tickets over, we still love going there
  12. before they closed the back straight etc i always sat on the wooden steps on exit of bend 2, then would wander round and see Mr Brown and the 1st bend loonies. away trips on the coach were ok but we did a little 'breakaway' minibus that was always fun my cousin used to sit with Mrs Rising in the grandstand so always paid a visit to the grandstand too, i don't know how i got to see all the racing with all the meeting up with people
  13. agree!! the place right at the end of the grandstand next to the first bend
  14. i did love how all the lights went down and just the track was lit up, shame they don't do that anywhere now
  15. Warsaw to end an all Poland series? if they can run on Friday and Saturday
  16. true, i've seen some rubbish at Wembley, in fact other than a handful of races in '81 that was nothing special, but people remember the atmosphere and just a few races. if Cardiff was full this would happen there too
  17. every speedway fan should sample a Polish GP, i've been to Warsaw 3 times and absolutely love it, atmosphere i haven't felt in speedway since Wembley '81. if Cardiff could be filled think how amazing that would be
  18. if there was a GP at the NSS (i doubt it'll happen while Cardiff want it), they need to have a lot more going on around the stadium than that one food truck, but there needs to be entertainment and good food, and i think that's the only place NSS fails to tick a box
  19. it's a proper business, it has to be professional
