i know of a call being made to Johnnie Hoskins at Canterbury asking what the weather was like at the track, the reply - meeting on, no rain. the call was made from a phone box across the road to the track in the pouring rain

call offs on the day of the meeting when it's obvious it could have been called sooner is a pain in the backside, arrangements are made, time off work etc, i'd much prefer 24 hours notice

or more, as his average shows.

expect it'll go ahead Ian, but it's the travel side that's up in the air still, needs BJ to change what list they're on for it to go smooth

sneaky feeling Lawson might have been wanted from the start, but had to wait for Cook to go first, then swap things around that. still a basis for a good team there, but the engine room needs a kick start

sad to see all that's going on at KL, Peter is a top bloke, does wonders for training and bringing on youngsters, maybe the respect wasn't there from some riders because of that, nice guys normally get dumped on though .. always used to watch Rob Lyon at work, good team manager and knew how to deal with the riders without wanting to be the star of the show so to speak, and always after riders that would be right for the club, even when looking at guests

are referees under a "no dead heat" directive this year?

basic requirement here is clubs to run on the days that suit them, not when they're told, and if that means weekends then so be it. the choices we used to have on a saturday was great, now, nothing.
