  1. ok...i'll do a couple to start.. 1 Colin Cook 2 Ole Olsen 3 Jan Andersson 6 Colin Cook (says so on his fork cover but recognise his leathers) 7 Ole Olsen
  2. not very fair Shazz...thought we weren't allowed to mention things like that
  3. not quite got the hang of the question Trackman
  4. maybe you'll have to ask him at the VSRA meal in March.... he says he's going this year
  5. don't forget Egon Muller's handlebars that i said were his longtrack ones and quite a few disagreed....
  6. think it was John Cook promoter when he was in Eastbourne juniors
  7. it was in a recent copy of the Vintage Speedway magazine...
  8. a lot of the problem is that so much time seems to be spent before each race with the riders digging up their gate positions... if you were sad enough to sit there at a meeting and time them at how long they are in the start gate vicinity, it would probably be longer than each race takes! the races last for 1 minute... how can they struggle to fit in 15 minutes of racing into a 2 hour slot??? maybe the referees need to get a push on or cut out the digging. i don't know if he still refs but i always thought Frank Ebdon was the best ref at keeping things moving.
  9. i used to like the old 2nd halves... we would be out in the first race of the 2nd half and if we came 1st or 2nd would get a crack at the number 7 in the main match...it gave us something to aim for but normally we only got 2 maybe 3 rides per night which is not what you need at that stage. i wish i was riding now in the Conference as you are riding different tracks and conditions and different level of rider as mentioned, so obviously you're going to improve quicker. the trouble with the 2nd halves with riders from the main match is that the riders didn't really like them...they were a waste as far as some riders were concerned.
  10. did jan holub ride at exeter in the 70s????
  11. isn't there another one out there still riding in Rob Woffindon???
  12. Lisa Whibberley actually rode at Arena around '85 or '86. the reason she was always at Iwade was because her dad bought the place i think.
  13. Bob Humphreys was a top fella... he owned the old training track at Elfield Park when i was learning to ride... and i used to get his old Dunlop tyres off him when most were using Pirelli.
  14. great memories of the indoor meetings at Wembley too... went to all of them (think the first was '79) and even got to go down into the pits area and have a wander around there. Also remember at one of them we had to go down to see Ivan and ended up in the changing rooms chatting with Kenny Carter you might want to change the info on the site PF as they were in Wembley Arena not Crayford
  15. isn't he a bit old for the Conference League????
  16. sorry to spoil the game... 1987 Kevin Smart 31 132 261 20 281 8.52 Trevor Banks 30 134 257 27 284 8.48 Keith White 11 43 86 2 88 8.19 Andy Hines 14 55 86 14 100 7.27 Mark Carlson 32 123 186 28 214 6.96 Troy Butler 28 116 174 24 198 6.83 Peter Lloyd 32 114 154 30 184 6.46 Ian Clark 31 103 110 21 131 5.09 Paul Atkins 6 15 7 1 8 2.13 John Bostin 2 7 12 4 16 9.14 Keith Millard 2 6 6 2 8 5.33
  17. Think most riders at some point in that era had a Cortina or the bulk of them had the Citroen Safari's.... you could get the bikes in them with the front wheel off (the bike)
  18. you're right on the vision side... they never plan for the future, everything is always 'next season', then they change it again. sky will get wind of the constant rule changes and pull the plug claiming the sport can't be credible with such constant changes it's why we need someone in charge to make decisions for the sport, with no interests in a team, someone that can lay down a 5 year plan and work to achieve that even if it upsets 'promoters' at times
