  1. you also have to look at it another way ... with the Americans coming over, they also brought a different way of life, and although they would have brought some excitement and glamour to an ailing sport they also brought a lot of negative 'influences' that still exist today unfortunately. this thread itself is about remembering the American riders that had a go (and fair play to them), but didn't make it as big as some ... it's not all about slating them ... Gemini will tell you, i am quite happy to slate quite a few of them, but i won't on this thread.
  2. when you have winners you inevitably have losers too ... why can't some of those that tried but failed in the UK be remembered? i don't think anyone here is particularly slagging them off, just pointing out whether they had it in them or not. speedyguy ... everyone that has ever sat and ridden a speedway bike deserves some respect whatever level they were at, and when you see what has happened to Ashley Jones, someone i watched most weeks round Kings Lynn, it brings it home to you that the sport is more dangerous than a lot of people realise ... it's not all fun and games (although for me it was a fantastic 7 years of having fun), and there are massive dangers.
  3. have a look at the title of the thread i didn't say all Americans are or should be world beaters, i replied to the title of the thread and mentioned one that didn't make it with the team i supported. Brad did reasonably well in his home country and came over here to give it a shot ... it didn't work out, simple as.
  4. well i wasn't over impressed with Brad Oxley when he rode at Wimbledon for us ... but at least he had something to fall back on with all the pies his old man has a finger in
  5. rider 7 looks like Gary Rolls rider 8 .. Paul Whittaker?
  6. i dug out the video of the first ever GP round at Wroclaw ... Wigg and Briggs were in the studio and Wigg was pretty vocal and extremely annoyed by the way the qualifiers were sorted for the series that year ... wonder how he would feel about the situation now!!! Tony ... pictures emailed Jim ... thanks for the words there
  7. you are more than welcome to use the pictures ... if you let me know your email address i will send the pictures, or alternatively i can post my original prints to you so you can reproduce to whatever size you see fit. it was a fantastic weekend at Scheessel in '95 ... with Wiggy and Tatum level on 20 points each it meant a run-off for the title ... England 1st and 2nd in front of all those Germans steve
  8. here are some PICTURES of Wiggy that i took at the 1995 Longtrack final at Scheessel ... top bloke
  9. absolute star .... how many more words do we need?
  10. yeah i know what you mean ... could never work out why Chris Galvin got red, yellow and black for Canterbury, but hey, got a day out at the motorcycle show where we were measured up and i got a free set of leathers while i think of it, those red, yellow and blue Hackney ones were horrible!!
  11. would it be his Exeter leathers?
  12. i'll give you a clue .... they might help
  13. made a lot of difference this year didn't it
  14. Pearson just said on commentary that GB pride was intact!!! WTF!!! GB should have pride at winning, not coming LAST typical British attitude ... 'jolly good show, it's the taking part that counts' what a complete load of crap that attitiude is ... why can't the British have a bloody good look at themselves and have the attitiude of winners, not also-rans. fair play to Stead tonight, he had balls, and Richardson had another decent meeting (still don't like him though), but Nicholls, Sonia, and Screen were terrible. Loram should have been in for Screen
  15. congratulations to Poland ... most consistent team won it, and also the most exciting.
  16. they realised Lindback was going to be there so have ordered extra air
  17. and you think it'll be GB do you i won't support riders i don't like, simple as that, why should i change my views of 51 weeks in a year to turn all of a sudden. suppose with TR being your favourite rider, when it comes to a GP do you cheer for TR or Nicholls/Richardson?
  18. with football i won't go and cheer England ... i'll watch on tv and hope they win, but won't cheer for many of them. i used to spend 9 months of the year sitting behind the goal at Selhurst Park slagging off all the opposition players including Shearer, Cole, Beckham etc etc ... why the hell should i become a hypocrite and cheer for them? sorry, not for me
  19. who said it was a joke? just set the camera to B&W rather than colour, that's all
  20. erm ..... are you trying to take the words out of my mouth try THIS
