  1. grasstrack bikes have a good suspension, and i think a longer wheelbase and a 22" rear wheel. maybe something you need to think about also is that a lot of the riders from a few years ago that were prepared to ride on less than perfect tracks were former grasstrack riders ... don't seem to get that too often these days do you.
  2. do you still stand by that statement even though Crump beat Rickardsson TWICE? if that's the case, and Crump didn't ride well enough to be in the final, maybe your hero didn't deserve to be there either
  3. are you trying to say Rickardsson has never had 'a bit of luck' in any of the GP's he's been in? if Crump was 'gifted', why didn't Rickardsson beat him in the final?
  4. i noticed that but with the white line being about a foot wide it did make a mockery and very difficult for the ref as everybody was doing it.
  5. i think tonight Shovlar has proved who the real 'ginger whinger' is
  6. highest scorers in the meeting get first pick ... same as last year
  7. and Rickardsson has brought the sport down another level in the UK in 2006
  8. Shovlar ... stick that in yer pipe and smoke it!!! well done Nicki P, Crump and Gollob
  9. for Nigel Pearson .... who gives a flying f*** about Lee Richardson!!! all you've gone on about is Richardson this Richardson that ... is Richardson your lovechild or something? he's out, live with it.
  10. i think the way the rain was coming down (at the track ) it would have made it difficult relaying any surface ... the CotC said there was plenty dry to put down but i guess it would need to have stopped raining to be able to do this ... the forecast was for the bulk of the rain to hit at about 6pm. i was there about 2.45 and the track was wet but certainly rideable ... unfortunately from then on it rained on and off and at times pretty heavy, making doing anything pretty damn awkward. the pictures 5327, 5328, 5329, 5330 were taken at about 3pm ... the rest were at 4.30pm, so therefore the early pictures were the ones where i said it was rideable (note i said rideable, not raceable), the last few were when it had gone beyond rideable. if the track had no more water on it from 3pm, i would say there would have been a cracker of a meeting after the first couple of heats.
  11. just supposing this meeting is called off, is there any idea of a restage date? Sheffield have one of the next rounds coming up in a couple of weeks so would certainly need to be soon.
  12. as long as they're using Huggy today and not the Poole track man
  13. hmmm ... well i'm going to leave for the track at about 1.30 so i hope it stops and settles ... wonder if there will be any practise if it's too bad.
  14. how is the weather looking at KL now? i'm in March 20 miles away and there's been a couple of showers ... shooting star is in Fakenham (20 miles other side of KL) and says it is raining quite heavy. any updates nearer the track?
  15. i don't doubt that at all and am expecting a decent meeting, i just hope the supporters feel the same. some tracks can be great levellers and being at KL it will give some the chance to beat Kennett. i certainly expect Kennett to win the meeting still (as he is supposed to be England's next great white hope )but later rounds might find the going tough if it's on a big track ... he won't be getting seeded from other meetings if he does miss out seen Bridger round KL and he looked good but he wasn't up against anyone ... D King could win it as could Boxall. **EDIT** just seen weather forecast ... http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/tomorr...code=Pe34%203ag Kennett might get about 6 or 7 if it's on
  16. can't see many more supporters going than we normally get, but i certainly hope i'm wrong. once again it's one of those meetings where people will be thinking about going but if there's a drop of rain it could keep the crowd down thanks to recent events.
  17. i don't think a GP was anywhere near what shooting star was talking about ... i think it's more like the real big ones like the PLRC and yes, the PotE were great meetings ... top riders with top racing ... never happen again all the time a GP exists. the GP circus had robbed EVERY club of their 'big' individual meetings and being able to entice some top riders.
  18. maybe we had the same enthusiasm for IOW that you had for Newport a few weeks ago ... don't recal people making such a big deal of it though
  19. well people talk about the number of meetings that used to get called off compared to now ... think about the changes that have been made in recent years and maybe you'll get the answer .. use uprights? go back to the Pirelli and Dunlop tyres? make the frames a little more rigid? (how many times do you see riders lock-up mid turn only for the chain to fly off?) could be a number of things ... best person on here to say would probably be Jan Staechmann, he's ridden all i've mentioned as well as newer equipment
  20. yes it would sort the riders out but surely it's just going from one complete farce straight into another?
  21. bigest problem here is the bikes ... the laydowns are made to be at full throttle for 4 laps on a smooth, slick surface, and any deviation from that causes the meeting to be postponed.
