  1. nah sorry ... just got about 4 or 5 of them from 1946. might be putting the scrap books on ebay very shortly though and they will include some of the magazines as well as programs, tickets etc from the 1946 & 1947 seasons
  2. just looked at what i have and i have a Speedway News from 25th July 1946 .. it's Volume 13, No. 16. has a picture of Malcolm Craven of West Ham on the front leaning forward on his bike but looking back ... is that the one?
  3. i might have this ... i have some 1946 & 1947 scrap books that i am taking for a price tonight, and i know there are some Speedway News magazines in there too.
  4. i think i might have this on video ... it's either this or 1974 ... i'll have a check for you
  5. it's not just about having more dirt down as there was quite a bit there last night, the problem is the moisture in the track. last night there was ample dirt but after a few races that had dispersed leaving a hard dry track that obviously becomes slick. normally, the track is starting to have water on it a couple of days before the meeting letting it keep soaking in, therefore giving a nice spongy track which in turn produces the extra grip. the dirt thats on the track on race night is then able to bind with the spongyness making it stay good for the duration. i think
  6. this is the PLRC, not the ELRC ... a lot more chance of the riders listed actually turning up.
  7. which all goes to show why there should be proper qualifiers that every rider should go through, not because your face fits or you're the right nationality ... the only way of getting the better riders involved.
  8. bit too young to remember that one although the result was perfick (the injuries were a big downer though)
  9. nope the 54-54 draw between England and USA was much better racing. wish i had that on video
  10. i certainly miss the old one-off world finals ... it was something the whole season geared up to, unlike now where it's just about an invitation event with the same riders all year. the cut and thrust of the qualifiers made for some exciting speedway, and very often the Inter Continental final was regarded as a better line-up than the final itself. i was very lucky to go to world finals at Wembley 72, 75, 78, 81, Los Angeles 82, Norden 83, Gothenburg 84, and Bradford 85. having since been to GP's, i don't think they quite beat knowing you will see the new world champion at the end of the night.
  11. big bad Brad Oxley ... rode for us at Wimbledon. always looked a bit too tall to be a speedway rider .. not quite as good as Mike Lee
  12. with the way rules are made and changed do you really think there will be speedway in 20 years time?
  13. i certainly think Moggo deserves something back from the sport he has put so much into over the years ... he's a top bloke, simple as
  14. seem to remember that being said about Lee Richardson in the past
  15. how can it be a tough corner on the straight?????? unbelievable!!!
  16. the Nicholls ambition comes through in his interview with Sophie again ... 'i need to make the semi' wrong!!! if you weren't British you'd be talking about making the FINAL
  17. yeah, he must be overtaking Rickardsson's total soon too .....
  18. doesn't really matter who is in charge ... with the 'quality' that GB are producing the person leading becomes irrelavant
  19. i think shooting star was talking about the supporter that Scott Nicholls punched at Kings Lynn
