  1. the 'Ivan Mauger Individual World Championship Trophy' how about a new winged wheel?
  2. we had crowds like that back in 1981 get reading the veteran speedway magazines
  3. Cyril J Hart could be classed as a bit more than a fan....
  4. http://community.webshots.com/photo/124271...124274204PLznah and looking no different to how i remember him when he rode
  5. or you can see Phil Vance at http://community.webshots.com/photo/77513670/116106471fZAoyD it's me in y/b, and he is in the Wimbledon colours behind or alternatively... http://community.webshots.com/photo/77513670/116107182iKZVET i'm in blue, Jay Pleece in white, and Phil Vance in y/b
  6. Jay was probably Wimbledon's top junior for a couple of seasons and rode now and again for Eastbourne i think... he was very quiet and a nice bloke also noticed Phil Vance (Dons junior from same era) has recently started grasstrack again
  7. could be waiting a long time then... post is a little slow round here (maybe the slow boat hasn't left China) http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...ic=11480&st=120
  8. well thanks for answering and i think the decision was a wrong one and obviously you agree! there was no way this heat should have been re-run as it happens all over the place what i was getting at also, were the people on here ready to blame Hans Andersen and no-one else for defeat... basically i was pointing out that it was swings and roundabouts and unfortunately GB didn't win.
  9. still no answer to my earlier question... thought i'd post to bring it back to the top
  10. interesting what comes out when there is no reply to my questions
  11. Can you explain that one because that doesn't sound very nice sounds like bribery Also good on the Mrs after all she backed the Danes on the "Who's Gonna Win Thread" must of been pretty quiet in your house bribery??? where's the bribery?? just saying if personal comments come this way they will have a habit of coming back, that's all.... no bribery. and with regards to the Mrs backing the Danes... just because she backed them, doesn't mean she was supporting them...now go and have a little think about it i backed the Aussies but didn't want them to win...as you can see from my post, i wanted GB to win because i like one rider more in their team than i do any of the others. backing and wanting are two different things.
  12. oh well (again) better have a read of something i put on another thread aimed at your friend (very tempted to put 'little friend' there but you didn't type it) ok, here we go.... this is something i posted last night on the King's Lynn forum in reply to someone else that didn't like my point of view.. FROM KING'S LYNN FORUM POSTED BY STEVE HONE sorry you feel this way and i'll point something out... there was someone in this house tonight supporting the Danes and it wasn't me or Sarah.the best team on the night was quite obviously the Swedes as they won the meeting. i wanted the Brits to win tonight.. i like Loram but not any of the others, but thats still one more than any of the other teams had that i like. i am a speedway fan first and foremost and will say it as i see it...not what other people are telling me i should be saying or thinking. i used to support Wimbledon FC and would sit front row behind the goal at Selhurst and slag off Shearer, Cole, Beckham, Owen etc for 9 months of the year.... there was no way come an international match i was then going to start cheering for them... yes, i want my nation to win, but i'm not going overboard with flags and high hopes of something that is a waste of time (it's why i don't support Lynn ).. i will sit and watch and tell it as it is WHEN they lose. mentioned tonight that the last world cup win at speedway was 1989... for the 'big speedway nation' that's kinda worrying don't you think? END OF QUOTE watch the personal comments, they might come back and bite you one day ho hum so there you are...neither of us supporting the Danes
  13. no i don't think he is... i think he should keep his job for another year at least
  14. and would anyone on here give a monkeys though??
  15. Middlo, quick question for you.... do you think the race where Richardson was impeded should have been re-run and what would you have done if it had gone against you in a league match with your rider leading as there were no fallers and it's part of racing if someone in front of you has an EF other than that, was a decent effort considering the track, your track, not being set up how the Brits supposedly like it, with that very slick line appearing very early on.
  16. but no world cup in speedway in the last 15 years and even back then it was under painful circumstances. this country needs to be acting NOW on securing Middlo or whoever is manager has the right kind of talent to work with when it comes round to world cup or whatever.... the sad fact is, GB is extremely over-rated when it comes to sport, and until someone in the right place wakes up and realises this then Denmark, Sweden and even the Poles will be head and shoulders above what we can offer. lets get behind some sort of training academy for the youngsters, when there are training 'schools' at various tracks, make sure that the riders are actually trained rather than left to get on with it. lets get the future in place NOW and maybe, just maybe, we will be able to cheer GB on to the podium as #1, not 2 or 3.
  17. sense of humour retained Lt... just struggling lately when i read posts like 'lets run hans andersen out of speedway', 'lets ban danish bacon', 'don't pay to see andersen race' etc etc.. as i posted elsewhere, i wanted GB to win, and really thought they could once the Aussies went out, but it's the British mentality of blaming everything but themselves for defeat that winds me up... why can't people accept that a better team won, and had Sweden used the Joker when they had the chance it wouldn't have mattered a bit what happened in heat 25 as it would have been all over before.
  18. i say leave Hans Andersen alone... i got him in my Speedway Star fantasy team
  19. thanks for that.... and by the way, don't let Tabby3 see you have an Australian avatar and said about 'us' needing a scapegoat... Tabby3 seems to expect every UK resident to support Team GB and therefore have a GB avatar
  20. no i don't think Hans is innocent...i watched the meeting too, but then do you also think Nicholls should have been excluded earlier in the meeting, or do you think Nicholls made a mistake with the 'red lights' or do you even think the race should have been stopped when Richardson was 3rd in a race and someone in front went out of shape causing his chain to come off... how often do you see that in a league match and at the fans just look at it as an unfortunate incident, after all, no-one came off. basically what i'm saying is that these things balance themselves out... and Sweden won.
  21. ok, here we go.... this is something i posted last night on the King's Lynn forum in reply to someone else that didn't like my point of view.. 22. might have something to do with the same old crap from British fans that can't accept that their team has been beaten... i.e Euro Championships.. 'that ref was to blame' 'rooney got hurt' 'owen was off form' 'the ball was different' 'the grass was too green' 'leaves on track' 'wrong kind of snow' etc etc etc ad infinitum for any sporting event.... oh well, soon be the olympics... more excuses filtering out
