  1. need to get hold of Ian Cox i think ...
  2. not yet Mike, but now Sarah (shooting star) has sorted some things out i certainly will be confirming. so will your old man be there?
  3. unfortunately it is a problem with the younger generation ... bringing up dyspraxia doesn't make any difference here as there are kids out there with no problems whatsoever dat post with dis and dat all da time. THAT is the point i am making. and i'm quite happy to take the mick out of anyone. i get it, and i give it back.
  4. everyone is born right handed ... only the greatest overcome it
  5. there was someone else and i think they had the surname of Beaton ... not sure if it was Bobby or not. if i remember rightly i'm sure he rode for a Northern club. Glasgow and Hull are in my mind which is why i thought it could be Bobby Beaton for Hull
  6. if it was in EL racing it would certainly make it interesting.
  7. a different one back then Alan, but looking exactly the same yes white, all white
  8. i have looked through my pictures and this is the only one i can find that has Roland in ... it's at a Hackney training morning in 1988 and i am about 90% sure number 24 is Roland. number 29 is Ian Cox and number 21 is me
  9. only if he finds a bloody good tailor and plenty more material
  10. earlier on you said he looks like a porn star ... it was nearly 30 years ago
  11. i used to love going to White City ... always one of my favourite tracks to visit for Overseas and Inter Continental meetings as well as some Rebels matches. got quite a bit of video still of some of the big meetings held there. i have a picture showing a bit of the stadium in the background ... the picture is of my dad and Ivan Mauger on the day Ivan got his MBE at Buck House ... i have a feeling Ivan was riding there that night because i have another picture somewhere of him in his top hat and tail with his bikes there. picture can be seen here Ivan wrote that note at the bottom of the print too
  12. just had a listen ... memories of getting the day off school to go to the Royal Tournament at Earls Court every year
  13. Oh but he did in fact Ivan was still around when the GP was on <{POST_SNAPBACK}> oh well, my info was from 'the horses mouth' as it were
  14. better ask CHK ... the thread was left alone for 2 weeks
  15. just pointing out that the answer was already known (as stated) so why ask on here?
  16. who cares!!! enjoy yourself ... and i won't be at the VSRA this year to take pictures of you on the dance floor
  17. i'm sure you'll have a great time at all of them Jim .... very envious.
  18. Gordon & Margaret are a great couple ... they don't go to speedway too often these days but i understand they will be at Belle Vue with Ivan at the Peter Craven Memorial. i have stayed with them and their son Paul in the past but only get to see them at the VSRA meal these days. should really try and persuade my dad to become a member and post on this forum ... he used to travel all over the place with Ivan when he first came over in the late 50s and has loads of stories ... also my dad was a groundsman at Plough Lane in the 60s when the Wimbledon riders used to spend a lot of time at the stadium hanging around the workshop etc
  19. i remember Rolf staying with us years ago as he did some driving still for Ivan when Gordon Stobbs was his mechanic ... i remember him having the nickname of the Bullfighter and have no idea why. i asked my dad the other night but he didn't know either ... do you know the reason Tsunami? would be good for people to get down to Belle Vue, Buxton or Newport to see Ivan doing his training academies
  20. you can but he'll be at my dads next week and might read it
  21. well my memories are from when he started with Wimbledon in 1983 ... as a number 7 he was absolutely brilliant from the gate and scored loads more than we expected. i even had one of the sunstrips that said 'Kelvin Tatum - Go For It' for years i thought he was a gater with fast bikes but when i went to Scheessel in 1995 (i think) and saw him win his first longtrack title my opinions changed. the way he adapted his style to the big, fast track was fantastic. even after losing his chain in one race he still went out and won beating Simon Wigg in a run-off
  22. no sarcasm in my post is there? even if Steve had asked you to keep quiet you already knew the answer so why bother posting?
