  1. Ivan won 2 pairs titles though, not 1
  2. if a 2nd option counts i'll go .. ERIK = 17 (7 WTC, 5 PAIRS, 2 LTRACK, 3 IND) IVAN = 15 (3 LT, 6 IND, 2 PAIR, 4 WTC) RONNIE = 3 (2 IND, 1 PAIR) OVE 11 (5 IND, 6 WTC) 46
  3. well Ivan has 15 FIM gold medals, i dont know Ove's history and how many pairs and WTC he has my answer was based on speedway and longtrack only
  4. if its speedway and longtrack only ... Ivan 6 + 3 Ronnie 2 Ove 5 Erik 3 + 2 possibly
  5. 21 if its speedway and longtrack??
  6. quite annoying actually ... looking for a place called Scheessel and all we could find was Ausgang my dad was doing the map reading but couldn't find that place
  7. i think thats totally out of order having a birthday the same day as the longtrack ... my 40th is on the same day as Cardiff 2007 too so these speedway fixture compilers have a lot to answer for. flew to Hamburg and hired a car last time i went ... as i was driving down the motorway i kept seeing a sign for a town ... went on for bloody miles, must be a really big town. place was called Ausgang
  8. Scheessel ... what a fantastic 1000m track that is Iris, do you know if the club still runs, would love to go see some longtrack there again, but i heard they were having problems
  9. nah sorry ... just got about 4 or 5 of them from 1946. might be putting the scrap books on ebay very shortly though and they will include some of the magazines as well as programs, tickets etc from the 1946 & 1947 seasons
  10. just looked at what i have and i have a Speedway News from 25th July 1946 .. it's Volume 13, No. 16. has a picture of Malcolm Craven of West Ham on the front leaning forward on his bike but looking back ... is that the one?
  11. i might have this ... i have some 1946 & 1947 scrap books that i am taking for a price tonight, and i know there are some Speedway News magazines in there too.
  12. i think i might have this on video ... it's either this or 1974 ... i'll have a check for you
  13. which all goes to show why there should be proper qualifiers that every rider should go through, not because your face fits or you're the right nationality ... the only way of getting the better riders involved.
  14. bit too young to remember that one although the result was perfick (the injuries were a big downer though)
  15. nope the 54-54 draw between England and USA was much better racing. wish i had that on video
  16. i certainly miss the old one-off world finals ... it was something the whole season geared up to, unlike now where it's just about an invitation event with the same riders all year. the cut and thrust of the qualifiers made for some exciting speedway, and very often the Inter Continental final was regarded as a better line-up than the final itself. i was very lucky to go to world finals at Wembley 72, 75, 78, 81, Los Angeles 82, Norden 83, Gothenburg 84, and Bradford 85. having since been to GP's, i don't think they quite beat knowing you will see the new world champion at the end of the night.
  17. big bad Brad Oxley ... rode for us at Wimbledon. always looked a bit too tall to be a speedway rider .. not quite as good as Mike Lee
  18. with the way rules are made and changed do you really think there will be speedway in 20 years time?
  19. seem to remember that being said about Lee Richardson in the past
  20. how can it be a tough corner on the straight?????? unbelievable!!!
  21. the Nicholls ambition comes through in his interview with Sophie again ... 'i need to make the semi' wrong!!! if you weren't British you'd be talking about making the FINAL
