well i posted this on youtube recently ...
a great race at Mildenhall between Colin and Dave Jackson.
i rode at Exeter with your dad, and i got on ok with your mum ... think it was her that started a collection at Exeter when i broke my thigh.
so are you the one that used to run around the Exeter pits with that scraggly bit of hair at the back that i really wanted to cut
like to see what's going on with a some riders from the 80s ...
Mike Ferreira, Mike Spink, Larry Ross, Kai Niemi, Roger Johns, John Titman, Ari Koponen, Paul Evitts, Kevin Jolly
Jim ...
Erik is certainly up there as a true great, fantastic rider and one that i class as having that 'x-factor' ... a rider that could look good but produce on the day when needed, that's why he was able to outsmart Nielsen for so long.
I'll pm you with Ivan's email later.
He's flying up to Edinburgh for the Scottish dinner with my parents end of February, and he has a few plans in between but what date are you looking at for a get together?

quite annoying actually ... looking for a place called Scheessel and all we could find was Ausgang
my dad was doing the map reading but couldn't find that place
i think thats totally out of order having a birthday the same day as the longtrack ... my 40th is on the same day as Cardiff 2007 too so these speedway fixture compilers have a lot to answer for.
flew to Hamburg and hired a car last time i went ... as i was driving down the motorway i kept seeing a sign for a town ... went on for bloody miles, must be a really big town.
place was called Ausgang
Scheessel ... what a fantastic 1000m track that is
Iris, do you know if the club still runs, would love to go see some longtrack there again, but i heard they were having problems
nah sorry ... just got about 4 or 5 of them from 1946.
might be putting the scrap books on ebay very shortly though and they will include some of the magazines as well as programs, tickets etc from the 1946 & 1947 seasons
just looked at what i have and i have a Speedway News from 25th July 1946 .. it's Volume 13, No. 16.
has a picture of Malcolm Craven of West Ham on the front leaning forward on his bike but looking back ... is that the one?
i might have this ... i have some 1946 & 1947 scrap books that i am taking for a price tonight, and i know there are some Speedway News magazines in there too.
