  1. for the people still going on about Scott Nicholls not being there last night, have a think about it .... there is a supposed rift between Nicholls and Harris isn't there. now, if Nicholls had been there in the pits don't you think that would have created friction? some of the team would have sided with Harris, some with Nicholls, and in turn that creates a divide. what Rob Lyon is trying to create first and foremost is a bit of harmony between the riders, a sense of working together and for eachother .. if you have riders ignoring eachother that's not going to happen. at Kings Lynn Rob has created a massive TEAM mentality, and it shows with riders that are there, riders you think might not be good will tend to come up trumps because they enjoy being part of what they do at KL. now, i know people will say Lyon has no experience dealing with EL riders, but he has plenty of experience dealing with speedway riders, and creating the right mindset for a rider is a massive part of the job, whatever team you're in charge of. last night you had English riders going out in each race with enthusiasm and balls, something thats been missing for a few years now, but this might just be the start of something good. R.E Gollob in heat 25 .. i was stood next to the pits and 3 riders were let out and then the pit gate was shut .. why?? Steve Brandon of Sky then shouted at the marshalls to open the gate and Gollob put his goggles on and went out .. too late though. ok i accept he may not have been too bothered, but it looked like he was shut in.
  2. i thought there was a fallout between Nicholls & Harris .. what's the point of having them both in the pits still if you are trying to create harmony and a team spirit.
  3. Spandau Ballet are reforming to tour, so you never know .....
  4. staying at the Hilton Bristol so handy for the pairs on Friday too
  5. 1 Hancock 2 Ermolenko 3 big bad Brad Oxley
  6. the problem is, Peterboro is a track where you need speed, and lots of it, and Nicholls didn't have that last night, despite what his scores at Coventry show. regarding Kennett, i never rated him as he couldn't ride big tracks, but i've seen him have some decent meetings at Peterboro in maybe the last season and a half and he can certainly ride the place well now .. IF England got to the play-off or final, then that's where i wouldn't have Kennett, i think Leszsno is still beyond him. i would have for the Boro meeting the same as was posted at the top of the thread .. Richardson Harris Kennett Bridger Woffinden
  7. QUOTE (Robbie B @ Jun 6 2009, 04:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Spring Classic winners 1981 Dave Jessup & Ole Olsen Ole Olsen, appealed against referee Mel Price's decsion to disqualify him from heat 12 for alleged use of a new tyre. Olsen's three points had been deducted from his score and the riders placed behind him, Gordon Kennett, Bo Petersen and Billy Sanders all advanced one place in the heat result. The Speedway Control Board Tribunal considered Olsen's appeal on May 26 and upheld his protest ordering that the original heat 12 result should stand. Consequently causing Dave Jessup and Ole Olsen to finsh level on points. Olsen waived any claim to the additionmal prize monies he should have won. i put some of the tv footage of the arguing that went on with that on youtube
  8. what's his name as my dad worked at the stadium in those years, might remember him
  9. because he'll be over with Raye in the summer for a holiday instead
  10. Due to redundancy and still no job i need to sell my speedway scrapbooks from the 1946 & 1947 seasons. there is 1 book from 1946 and 3 from 1947. i have taken pictures of just a few of the pages and can be found HERE if anyone wants any info, or wants to make a serious offer, you can get me at steve.hone@o2.co.uk
  11. Alan Rivett was another at Exeter that used a Godden, he's sitting on one in the picture
  12. i did at the end of 1987 first night using it i won a race , then in my next i picked up massive drive out of 2nd turn and broke both wrists and my arm very powerful engine but hard to ride after coming from Weslake. another well known Godden rider was Simon Wigg
  13. nah, looked so much better in his black leathers and a red and yellow racejacket
  14. is it him in the yellow leathers in THIS picture? 1986 Canterbury v Poole
  15. and to think the previous manager was quoted as saying he wasn't going to use any riders from the PL
  16. but if you don't agree with some people's opinions, you get things like
  17. to be honest, i'm looking forward to seeing him ride .. if he scores 0 then so be it, but i think that's pretty unlikely as he is on some good form at the moment and should have been in the team Monday. Kennett and Woffinden should certainly be ok at Vojens
  18. i did in the previous post, your arguments with all the GB manager threads seemed to point in one direction, never giving a valid reason for the then manager to stay, nor coming up with any possible answers to the problem .. what else are you getting at?
  19. Sharron, you've never had a valid response in any of the WTC threads other than sticking up for your mate, why do bother looking?
