  4. my first glimpse of Polish riders was a test match at Newport, when on the parade lap, without Helmets Edmund Migos decided on a couple of practice laps ,picked up some grip reared up headed straight towards the fence rode up the fence like the wall of death and carried on as if nothing had happend, I thought then this could be an interesting evening ,and it was
  5. For Me its Peter Collins didn't Try at Somerton Park ,When he he could be bothered to turn up , so many times broke down on route,I know it was not the best track ,but other riders came with the attitude "its there to be ridden so lets get on with it "

  16. I prefered the monthly nominated best of 3 at each riders home track plus a decider on a neutral track if needed I saw a Decider in 65 at Newport between Barry Briggs and Charlie Monk , they got rides in the second half as well, Because the Golden Helmet was before the match, as far as I can remember it was Briggs 2-0
  17. Has to be Vargarna Wolves ,I made replicas for my Cycle Speedway team Ringland Wolves in Newport, Made from advertising banner taken from Somerton park in 66
  18. Saw Peter Vandenberg at Newport when Newport opened in 64, great rider and a bit useful when things got a bit tense. Got talking to Jon Erskine at Queensway he remembered at a match that was boring, he was told that he and peter had to clash, drop their bikes, lots of finger pointing, pushing and shoving, rolling around the floor , being seperated by the other riders, it livened up the match, also met Cyril lots of times, I asked him if he could remember the World Ch Qualifying round at Newport that he won , he remembered and said he did not have the programme, so the next meeting I gave him the program from my collection ,great memories from Somerton Park very Vivid, but ask me what happened last week !!! blank Not sure what BOBBATH remembers, Norman the most unlikely rider to look at but a match winner at times stepping up when needed, Bob Hughes great at Somerton Park Hopeless Away Had a Great season in 66 when Partnered with Gote Nordin boy could he team ride and Shepherd Bob, Bengt Lovely Style but didn't fulfill hes potential,
