  1. Jake may well read this forum. I recieved an e-mail from him today, via the Crusaders web site. It reads as follows.... Retired to the Costa Blanca spain, six years ago. Living in Guardamar near Torrevieja. Looking forward to a few laps on Russell Payne´s track when it opens. Jake. So there you go. If anybody does not know about the Crusaders site, point your mouse here....Canterbury Crusaders
  2. Names of riders added to relevant pictures. Thanks all.
  3. Steve Hone and Shazzybird, sorry about that! I have changed the spelling and Barney (not Barbey) can be himself again. I really need to clean the keys on the laptop!
  4. I managed to programe a wee bit of spare time at work today, I took my laptop in with me (on the off chance) and have put the new piccys on the web site at last. My manager thought I was very busy and kept out of my way all day . New pics have a couple of unknown riders, any answers to their identity appreciated. Crusaders Web Site I will try my best to keep the site updated as much as poss. Any offers of help etc would be much appreciated.
  5. Sorry about lack of updates etc. I really dont have any spare time now days! Women, bikes (real ones, with 3 wheels!) and work etc take up all of my spare hours. If anybody is interested in taking over the site (FOC!) please let me know, I'll pass on everything I have inc a copy of dreamweaver and the rights to the site name. I would like to see it kept up to date, but I cant find the time to do it. Any offers?? I can be contacted via the web site e-mail address.
  6. Oh dear...the door is out of stock at the moment . Action pictures up on the site Team pictures from 1969 - 1988, now added as well. Crusaders website I must do something useful now or Janet is gonna kick my a$$!
  7. The CD arrived today, thanks M B . I've had a quick shufty and the memories came flooding back to me as well I will do my best to get it on the web site as soon as I can. I've got to fit a new back door at home, so this is going to have to take priority. Janet has put up with the old door falling apart every time she opens it. But is has now got beyond a joke. She is now threatening me with "nastys" if I dont get things moving. Leave it with me and I'll do what I can ASAP.
  8. What started as a chat with Terry Dawtry (over a bag of old photos), has grown and grown into what we have now. If you want anything put on the Crusaders web site, just contact me via e-mail and I'll get back to you ASAP. I can accept stuff by e-mail (I'm on BB, so size don't matter ) or normal post. I will return all items to the sender. All contributors are acknowledged on the website. As I mention on the site, I have no stuff of my own, it's all been sent or donated by fellow Crusaders followers. Any help in any way with write ups and memories etc would also be appreciated.
  9. Welcome back Hammer....Let you out for Christmas did they?
  10. Oooer...never noticed that before. Still, as they say "If it aint cooked....Dont eat it!"
  11. Below is a copy of an e-mail I received today from Australia. Re: Les Rumsey. It seems they are having a better time with the weather than we are! "Les is currently in Australia visiting Steve Koppe at his home in Townsville, Queensland. He says he does not like the sun too much, he may have a shock over here. Les hopes to visit me in Perth where we are forecast 105 degrees farenheit (or 40 degrees centigrade) over Christmas! I,m sure Les will aclimatise! Regards, Andrew, Perth, Western Australia."
  12. DOH!..... I didn't say it was up to date info, did I? ;-) 121 wanders off in the dark, with his tail dragging on the ground....muttering about helping people and feeling guilty about not reading the small print on web sites etc etc
  13. How long ago was that Shaz? Dont know about "medieval" but this link has few bits about the Kingsmead area redevelopment plan, if that helps. www.canterbury.gov.uk/cgi-bin/buildpage.pl?mysql=1084
  14. Have just completed an update on the web site. www.canterburycrusaders.co.uk I've added a few more bits of info etc. I have recieved a few new photos from Shirley Shilleto, of Brendon and a few others. A few of the names are missing so if anybody can shed some light on these it would be helpful.
  15. I'm working on but, I'm having a few probs with my scanner. I've tried hitting it, this gets it going for a few mins it then makes a few grunting noises and stops again. Technology  Bah!!! I'll do a re-install of the drivers and see if that helps. In the meantime please be patient...
  16. That still happens at some tracks. Only its called...... sidecar speedway now. OK!.....I'm off back to my sunbed 8)
  17. Jimmy Goodsell. I remember him well... Jimmy went on to be a passenger for Bill Beecham on grass. I recall him getting upset many times when his "pristine condition" white leathers got dirty.
  18. And more! Details, taken from web site. Dont shoot the messenger! Year---Matches---Rides---Points---Bonus---Total---Average 1987........6............19..........7...........0..........7........1.474 1986....... 5............13..........9...........2..........11......3.385
  19. I contacted the web site "stats man" for you and he came back with the following reply... Sorry I can't shed any light on this one. My stats came from "The Complete History of the British League" by Peter Oakes and there is no mention of P Furniss in the Canterbury averages for 1969. I thought that maybe he could have been a guest but I cannot see a P Furniss with an average in 1969 for any First or Second Division team.
  20. Oops, would "sorry" do for an answer? I took Janet (the Pit Pony) away for a "dirty" weekend at the sidecar supercup at Kings Lynn. Perhaps you could stick it in the post? :?
  21. Hebbs, glad you like the site, thanks for the compliments. If anybody has any Crusaders pictures, items or information etc, that could benefit the site. I would be pleased to hear from you. I can be contacted via e-mail or through the web site.
  22. OK Shazzy, the pic will go up asap . As for the map thingy, thats down to you I'm sorry to say. I've had a few probs with it But is does work sometimes...promise. Shazzybird picture, now added to web site. I've been spreading the word around a few other web sites, using links etc. The hit count is rising quite steadily. Perhaps with your picture on it will go a lot higher . Richard Brown has been helping out with all the stats etc. There's plenty on the site now to keep visitors happy for a while, but any more ideas would always be welcome.
  23. Dont forget the web site www.canterburycrusaders.co.uk any memories etc can be put on here as well. Contact details etc, on web site. Can I add your profile piccy to the rider line up as well Shazzy??? It would look good next to Uncle Ted, on the front page.
