Leicester V Poole 8/4/17 Ela
packerman replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I will cherish the way that he slowed a race down to enable Chris Holder to join him at the front for a match winning heat 15 5-1 against Birmingham at Wimborne Rd. -
That much of cost a small fortune to arrange for the flyby 😀

As it turned out in the end he was rather accurate don't you think? I do hope that the Bees do return to Brandon otherwise Gemini will have words with me
-
I feel sorry for Gemini having to choose between 2 important events.

Sky must have loads of spare cash going around as they are now show Superleague Netball
-
According to the Google maps the former Berrington Lough home of the Bandits looks in pretty good shape. It amazes me that the team survived in the middle of nowhere.
-
So sorry to hear this dreadful news about the Bees. I hope you do find a way back in the near future.

Great news that this desperately needed work is happening. All the best to the new Lions promotion on a successful outcome for better racing

Togger?

That is because you remember the horrors of the back straight bogs at Swindon

When Poole went belly up in 1984 It was Weymouth that saved Poole. We dropped to the National League had our race night moved to a Tuesday would you believe in 1985 (It's all Weymuth's fault we exist). Only riders I associated with Poole were Stan Bear & Kevin Smith They even changed the teamms nickname to the Wildcats. It was the best thing that happened to the team suddenly we became tittle contenders most years (OK with dodgy 2 point Australians in the team most years). Just not to follow them in the lower division is hard to believe but off race nights is the hardest part as you have a routine. He has a point as Coventry do have options not too far away, but I know why people do not travel & after a while the novelty will wear off because it just isn't Brandon. A lot of fans will be put off by the extra traveling involved in the end and then you are dependent of the host tracks fans attending twice a week which is cost ineffective. A bit like Peterborough years ago that raced 2 or three times a week and then no meetings for a couple of weeks. It is hard on family expenses and then you start losing the habit going.
-
I also used to travel all over the place watching Poole in the 80's & remember having an afternoon off work to visit Arena Essex weeks in advance for the meeting to be moved & me kicking my heels at home. Nothing changed but at least the internet does give you a better update of fixture changes.

As others have said and even at the might Poole stadium, it doesn't matter what night you race on if the team is getting a shlacking every week no one is going to come and add to it processional races makes it even worse. I hope everything works out this season for the Lions as they need all the help that they can get, at least you have a secure future unlike a number of teams around the country.

Good luck with the fight to keep the Bees going. You are lucky in the fact you have options of going elsewhere if it were Poole to close down I'd really have to think about giving up altogether as our nearest is Swindon that is 2 hours away with good traffic, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone not following there chosen team.

Premiership Confirmed Signings 2017

Brady Kurtz Confirmed on Poole website 8 days ago to complete the team. Surprised that I'm the first to post this really -
As another Poole fan here I can only hope that there is a positive outcome for you Bees fans as we need you to continue even with the current distaste between the 2 sets of fans over the recent years, I just perish the thought that Gemini will force Molly & Lucy to sit in a quiet street somewhere where the 4th bend used to be on some rubbishty Cul-de-Sac on a Friday night between March & October where Brandon Stadium used to be. Sadly being a Pirates fan I have to trawl through hundreds of his posts & then not forgetting Gavan's responses to which Starman has to reply to!
-
That's a little unfair as you will more than likely be using that particular seat to take Molly & Lucy for walks too!

What Was The Last Speedway Dvd/vhs You Watched?
packerman replied to Shale Searcher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The last Videos of speedway I owned would be from the Guys that did Wimbledon & Arena Essex in the 1980's. One would be a 4TT of Poole, Exeter & Eastbourne at Wimbledon. Wimbledon v Poole from around 1989 I think Wimbledon v Peterborough the same season. I also had Arena Essex v Poole. These were great quality but I leant them to someone but sadly they have now been lost -
How about signing two stars & several ringers, then do a Coventry as there is no chance of retaining an average of 13 anyway

Always liked my visits to Rye. First visit would of been in 1985 many things having changed since then but with the pub and good public transport links most tracks dream of I might have to force myself to visit Rye again in the top tier. Earlier I was joking about Buzz (Krzysztof Buczkowski) and only wish for the best to the Rockets next season
