Hi all, Im less than ten minutes from the track, and there has been no rain this morning bar a couple of spots about 10.15. It is rather chilly though so I'd suggest wrapping up!
-
The signing of Kyle Hughes to replace Darren Mallett, plus the extra rides for Cockle, Knight, Campos and Rayson with R/R being used for Kerr certainly improve Kings Lynns chances, as a suitable guest was looking hard to find with Malletts average. This looks a close call, and I'd just be happy with a Mildenhall victory! Should be a very good meeting

Isn't Evans average higher than Mallets baggy? R/R should give extra rides to Cockle,Rayson,Knight and Campos?
-
Anyway.... Does anyone know the Kings lynn line up following the dreadful bad luck that befell the side on Wednesday? Mildenhall line up as last Sunday 1 Brundle 2 Baseby 3 Jacobs 4 Halsey 5 Hargreaves 6 Laurence 7 Blackbird Looks like a close one dependant on the the KL guest. R/R may well work in there favour.Should be another good crowd with hopefully plenty making the short trip from Norfolk!

Does anyone know if C.J Convine is still around, as if possible I would like to obtain some photographs from him. He took many of the photographs that appeared in the Mildenhall programmes of the late 1970's, so I assume he was fairly local to the area. Any information would be much apPreciated Thanks PhilK

Belle Vue Vs. Mildenhall (nl)
PhilK replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in National League Speedway
It wasn't much of a meeting as Halifaxtiger points out and there was no atmosphere whatsoever! Belle Vue fully deserved their victory and have in Howarth and Garrity two real young talents who look destined to go along way in the sport. Mildenhall had a poor night with James Brundle suffering a 'bizzare' refereeing decision from the very poor Mr Dishington, not a name I have come across before, a trainee maybe That said only Hargreaves, the ever improving Lewis Blackbird and Baseby came away with any credit, although there were signs that Jacobs may be starting to find his way again which is good news! We definately need Cameron Heeps or a suitable reserve partner for Blackbird! We set off at 12.15 Monday lunchtime and arrived home at 6.45 am this morning after spending 5 hours stationary on the M6 following a fatal accident that saw two men thrown from a car after it crashed. That I think puts last night into perspective really as it was only a sporting event we were watching, so onward and upward for Sunday where the team have a chance to quickly bounce back when we meet Kings Lynn in our local derby! -
Belle Vue Colts Vs Mildenhall Fen Tigers

Thanks for the updates we are on the M6 keeping our fingers crossed!! -
Although we had a difficult start to the meeting with the track riding inconsistently for the first few heats with a number of falls, it was another enjoyable afternoon of NL racing at West Row. Speaking to some who were there working on the track first thing this morning, last nights stocks plus considerable overnight rain meant it was not an easy job to get the track prepared for a 4.30 start, so credit where it is due for their efforts. I thought the result was about right with Belle Vue deserving something for their efforts. Kyle Howarth in particular impressed and rode an excellent race in heat 15 to defeat Brundle and Hargreaves and prevent the Fen Tigers getting all 3 points. Surprising to see Garrity only get five rides, may have made the difference in the end On the Mildenhall front Brundle and Hargreaves both did their job well, and Blackbird impressed again although he didnt help poor Daniel Halsey in Heat 14, Halsey had a meeting where nothing really went right, on another day his efforts could have bought him 8/9 points. Aaron Baseby also deserved more for his efforts than his 2 point return. It looked another decent crowd, i'd estimate 700 - 800 .

Morning postie, There was some overnight rain in Mildenhall town but it has all but dried up now. I was up at 7am and it wasn't raining then, it's fairly bright at the moment, fingers crossed!

On the BSPA site Danny Stoneman has signed for Dudley replacing Luke Chessell! Chessell would seem a decent option for Mildenhall whilst we wait on Cameron Heeps. Certainly took a liking to our track in the 2010 U21 semi final and if our promotion could get him going he would be a useful reserve.

Where Now For The Heathens?
PhilK replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
Firstly what terrible news for Adam Roynon, after his horror accident at Kings Lynn I really doubted that he would come back and ride speedway competively again! Watching him at Mildenhall recently he looked fast and stylish and back to his best, so this latest setback for him is saddening to hear. Unfotunately many teams have these problems 21st century heathen and there is every probability that Dudley wont be alone in finding themselves in a very difficult situation during the season. I certainly wouldn't make multiple changes, it is very early into the season and Perry, Franklin and Morris are all very talented young riders in my opinion and won't let you down over the season. I would think all three will improve their averages in 2011. I understand that James Birkinshaw is looking to ride again, but would question whether his average would fit ? Personally I'd bring in Mark Baseby for Roynon, and look to book quality guests until Jon is ready to return. Whatever, hopefully Dudley can continue to remain competitive and keep the crowds coming to watch them, your support certainly added to the occasion at Mildenhall recently -

As far as we know its a standalone! Hope to see you there I wonder if Cameron Heeps will be here by then -
Sounds another excellent NL meeting yesterday Greg Blair has always impressed me so it is good to see him back and by reports on here performing really well! Another decent score by Jake Knight, he certainly seems very fast when he gets out in front! Look forward to getting up to Scunthorpe when Mildenhall ride there in the summer .

Correct Salty! Even Speedyguy must have realised it as he removed his posts I am now starting to regret ever opeing this thread, which was to recommend a good book I thought may have been of interest to Speedway supporters. Next time I don't think I'll bother mate. -
Correct Trees! And you can add Team Manager Robert Henry and Carl Blackbird to those three
