Mildenhall V Scunthorpe - N L - Sunday 6th May 2012
PhilK replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Certainly can't see any problems at the moment, as Damon says the lightest shower about an hour or so ago, but nothing of any consequence. Yesterday was fine too bar an odd shower. -
Mildenhall V Scunthorpe - N L - Sunday 6th May 2012
PhilK replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
From the Official Mildenhall website Mildenhall Fen Tigers are likely to be without their captain Lewis Blackbird for at least the next six weeks. His lay-off follows his heavy fall in the KOC win at King's Lynn on Wednesday night. Confirming the news, Fen Tigers' co-promoter Chris Louis revealed the extent of the injury. "Lewis dislocated his shoulder and in the end it was out for the best part of four hours. That meant he had to undergo an operation under general anaesthetic to have it put back into place. The doctors say the recovery time is weeks rather than days which is disappointing for everyone, not least Lewis. But he'll still be there in the pits helping the other lads and I'm sure he'll be back in the saddle as soon as possible. We'll operate rider replacement for Sunday's match against Scunthorpe, which will give the rest of the team an extra outing." Sunday's clash with the Saints has become the Fen Tigers' first league match of the season, after the home and away matches with Buxton fell victim to the wet weather. -

Hi Mike As far as I know last night was a league match. The times I got for Heats 1 - 4 were as follows 1 - 65.10 2 - 67.50 3 - 66.50 4 - 68.47 Hopefully Speedball can confirm if I heard correctly, agree with what you say about the tannoy! Re the IoW fixture on the 30th May, is that still on, on the Kings Lynn website they are at home to Lakeside that evening in the EL? We were coming to the IoW match so good to know if it is on or not. -
King's Lynn V Mildenhall (nlkoc) 2nd May
PhilK replied to MrMungo's topic in National League Speedway
Good stuff Baggy! Screamer must have been watching on updates! I agree about the lack of track time, although bar more teams entering the NL I don't know what can be done, but for youngsters like Jake Knight, Lewis Kerr 14 NL meetings plus maybe the chance of a couple more isn't enough.Being a standalone Mildnehall have entered the NT this year and hopefully if we have the success of 2011, the likes of Joe, Josh, Stefan ,Nathan etc will have around 30 meetings to look forward to. But they would I am sure say that is not enough. Josh is an exciting talent, who certainly has something about him, but so does his partner Nathan Stoneman. In the three meetings so far he has shown a maturity beyond his years, fine technique and that no one will bully him in the first turns. Heat 13 being an excellent example. Also have to mention Dan Halsey too, often overlooked as he goes about his business in a quiet efficient manner, but he certainly looks back to the form that earned him a place in the Rye House PL side. He will make a mockery of his 4.76 starting average for sure! -

Mildenhall V Scunthorpe - N L - Sunday 6th May 2012
PhilK replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Is Richard Franklin still part of the Scunthorpe set up? Could they not line up in no particular order Guest Wrathall Franklin Young Irving Clegg Phillips I don't think you can compare Heeps performances in the NL with those in the PL. Riders like Gjedde, Frampton etc are far better than he meets in the NL and a much harder test at such an early stage in his career. I am sure he will continue to pile up the points in the NL whilst learning his trade quickly in the PL. He is an exceptional young talent for sure -

As I sit typing this the sun is shining brightly into the dining room! Are we at last going to be able to get our league season underway? We are due to welcome the current N L champions, and who can forget the classic meeting at Mildenhall last October ? Has there ever been a better meeting in the 3rd tier? Scunthorpe are a much different side to last season, but in Max Clegg and Danny Phillips they could well have the next two in a line of young British talent to come off their production line. TheIr battles with our own young stars Josh Bates and Nathan Stoneman will be well worth seeing Should be a cracker and following the main event The Complete Car Services Fen Tiger Cubs will ride against the Peterborough Thundercats in the AJL. Lets hope the sun keeps shining! -

Michael, I asked if it was Ryes only AJL type fixture this season. As I wondered if they had had any other challenges. It is NOT the only league fixture this year as this meeting was a challenge, they are in different leagues Rye House (AJL) and Milton Keynes (MDL) The only league fixture to date took place on Thursday between Ipswich and Rye House!

From the Official Mildenhall Website - Mildenhall Fen Tigers hope it will be second time lucky as they look to start their National League campaign against Buxton Hitmen at West Row on Sunday, also avoiding an unwanted hat-trick of rain-offs. Since their KO Cup success against King's Lynn nearly a fortnight ago, their National Shield clash at Dudley and what should have been their league opener away at Buxton last Sunday were both washed out. Captain Lewis Blackbird admits his team have been left frustrated by their lack of action. "We had all arrived at Wolverhampton for the Dudley match and even walked the track. But then came another downpour and that was that. At least we got an early shout that the trip to Buxton was off. I was gutted as I really felt we could go there and win." Blackbird continued, "Now we just have to forget all that and concentrate on this weekend, where we are determined to get all three points. Cam (Heeps) wants to follow up his maximum against King’s Lynn with another full house and is determined to get the better of Robert Branford. I am looking forward to coming up against Tim Webster. Let’s just say we had some 'interesting' clashes when he was at Stoke last year!" Tigers' team manager Robert Henry also wants to see his side start the season with a three point win. "Although I would never be complacent I believe we have too much strength in depth for them and they'll be race rusty too. I am confident that if our boys ride to their potential we can pick up all the points on offer. It would be great for them and us if Cam and Danny (Halsey) can go through the card again." The Fen Tigers will be at full strength on Sunday, with teenage reserve Josh Bates now recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered after a heavy fall in the Cup win against King's Lynn. Mildenhall Fen Tigers: 1 Cameron Heeps 9.18 2 Joe Jacobs 6.27 3 Stefan Nielsen 5.28 4 Daniel Halsey 4.76 5 Lewis Blackbird © 7.01 6 Nathan Stoneman 3.00 7 Josh Bates 3.00 Team Manager: Robert Henry Buxton Hitmen: 1 Robert Branford 8.54 2 TBC 3 Richard Andrews 3.41 4 Dean Felton 5.35 5 Luke Priest 5.79 6 Michael Neale 3.00 7 Ryan Blacklock 3.00 Team Manager: Jack Lee The match will be followed by the first Anglia Junior League fixture of the season, when the Complete Car Services Fen Tiger Cubs take on the King's Lynn Lightning. The return fixture will be at the Norfolk Arena next Wednesday (2nd May) after the second leg of the Fen Tigers KO clash with the Young Stars.
