How was your GP day??
Jive replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Great weekend! Found our hotel was the same as Scott Nicholls so text Star Lady and tabby 3 to tell them. Made my way into town by train where we met 4 really nice fans until they said they were Ipswich fans which spoilt the atmosphere (They were great really) Ryan decided he wanted a hat so we went to GP store I said 'Get a British one' So to my disgust he got a Crump one which pleased Star Lady anyway. Met her at Sams Bar and started on the beer. After 7 pints of Dutch Courage saw Krissie thought I'd risk saying hello + Ryan wanted to sign the forum flag. Went upto Krissie who gave me the Krissie welcome stood talking to her for about 5 minutes then she said 'Who are you?' Told her and think she was slightly pi$$ed by now. Met Val C, london Witch (who shook my hand and I'm now scarred for life) and Woody the Bee. Ryan and I signed the flag then sloped off to claim back our seats. Pammie came said hello then rang Midnight Lady and gave me the phone, poor caroline had no idea who she was talking to Hazy now but remember meeting False Dawn where we had talk about grasstracking at Ugley (He didn't remember me either) and whilst at Bar saw woody walk in so hollered for his order which I duly got, he then cleared off to find I am a Bee (who was also very nice), was gone for ages so we were about to start his pint when he re-appeared. Tabby 3 text where was I and we missed each other 3 times at walkabout, Sams and Gatekeeper. We went in stadium at about 5.30 to get the atmosphere and like everyone else it was great. I have to admit I get very patriotic at GP and was cheering all the brits like mad so apologies if I was standing up a lot. Tony Hadley was crap, wrong choice you want someone to get the crowd going not send them to sleep so put Ryans ear defenders on whilst he was lullabying us all. Racing, atmosphere, riders, fireworks all superb and already looking forward to next year. -
Congratulations Sam....
Jive replied to Presenter's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Agree that Sam messed up rider intros could not hear a word as soon as he said the riders names with the airhorns blasting all around. You need a good presenter at an event like this and i'm afraid Sam was NOT the Man! -
Pedersens reception at Cardiff
Jive replied to Noodles's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well nothing's gonna stop my son shouting for Nicki and to aid him I will give him 2 airhorns as well, I mean who would pick on a 6 year old at a 'family sport' -
I don't know but I shall be coming along this year with my lad, so any pubs where children are allowed in would be great for him and Leigh

The story of the 1st GP ?
Jive replied to gillam's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Have to agree Rabbit certainly a top draw GP for a temporary track but is the Stockholm track edging towards a diamond shape which Olsen favoured about 10 years ago? It looked quite slow on the inside and it looked faster with riders sweeping around the outside I to thought Rickardsson was lucky to escape an exclusion 3 times, clearly took Hancock, took Gollobs line and front wheel and then was definately not under power when Crump fell, as why the red lights went on only Tony Steele will know As for the tapes fiasco well should have been sorted earlier this is the world championship! Certainly pleased for Leigh Adams who just got on with the job and I never really noticed him when he suddenly appeared in the final and I thought how did he get there Roll on Prague! -
British Wildcards for Cardiff
Jive replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would definately nominate Norris for one of them just for tv interviews alone, the bloke just has to be on tv for me to fall about laughing The other I would choose between Havelock and Screen, Havelock for his love of Britain but I feel screen would go further in a gp....... coin toss Havelock -
I remember a cracking race in Vojens in 1988 I think it was heat 20 Chris Morton and Ermolenko in the pouring rain battling over the 4 laps on what was a treachorous surface, certainly appreciated the skill of the riders. Also numerous races from 1990 at Bradford, Henka's 1st bend swoop on Tatum, Jonsson and Moran, Tesar Henka and Dugard certainly a great world final

Jive replied to RichieEarl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Big Sleep is not bad within staggering distance of the Stadium but they have hiked the prices for speedway weekends now from £80 to £120 I'm booked into the Innkeepers Lodge £90 for 2 nights -

Jive replied to Rico's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thoroughly enjoyed the meeting and a fully deserved win. The polish fans certainly get behind their riders well done Tomas Gollob. To be honest I was so engrossed I never even noticed Protasiewicz make the final how did he get there? I was really hoping the brits were gonna be 1-2 in the semi but not meant to be :-( Again the same people moaning about the track but what a change it was seeing 4 riders all in one camera shot for 4 laps. Good close fast racing and this is certainly the GP to be at. Best moment was Sullivan having a strop and chucking his bike on the floor So it goes down to the last one and I for one can't wait GO ON NICKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Thought it was a terrific GP and after trawling the 12 pages on the Prague GP thread and thinking "why is no-one mentioning the meeting" i then realised the thread started in March  Think this is one I will try for next year. My thoughts. Tomas lucky to get through and would have been eliminated if Todds engine never gave way but you have to last 4 laps as the argumentive Star Lady told me But i thought he was lucky Don't know what happened in heat 14 could not see anything wrong but Adams kept glaring at Nick Pedersen after the race. Thought Tomas Gollob produced the race of the night when bursting through two riders can't remember who? Thought he was gonna do his famous wide lines but then got in his bad habits of swopping bikes after 1/2 a lap for a re-start :? Crump deserved winner perhaps he should be sponsored by Vidal Sasoon with all his rollers. Disappointed with the brits and agree with Shazzy what a top move by Loram offering Nicholls his engines Great Gp and one I hope to do next year

I noticed that to, it seemed as if it had dropped and as he let the clutch go the back wheel just did not spin and all jammed up  Well done Scotty certainly is now a genuine gp winner and I really hope he wins one of the last 3. It is certainly the most open championship and will go to the wire.

Will Sky Show Grand Prix next week.
Jive replied to drakey's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just a thought when the British GP ran over schedule you could watch the celebrations by pushing the red button and watching it on interactive, now does anyone think that maybe sky could do that for the gp? I know it will probably upset cable customers but it is just a thought?  And yes I do wanna see it does that make me sad? 8) -
Will Sky Show Grand Prix next week.

She certainly has a job that I would NOT want at the present time. PS Still nothing on interactive guide :-( -
Will Sky Show Grand Prix next week.
Jive replied to drakey's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
To right I don't care. I shall care when British Speedway gets its act together. Just face it that Britain is no longer the no1 place to be for speedway. No i'm not sad I can see reality and I'm very happy thank you very much  Going to the BSI world cup again? Oh no you don't like anything to do with BSI do you -
Will Sky Show Grand Prix next week.
Jive replied to drakey's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You never cheer a british rider I think i got the slating from Lynn fans for cheering for Scott Nicholls I hope it is live on sky but if they show the recorded version in full I for one will be happy. I hope it is a great night for everyone in Sweden -
Will Sky Show Grand Prix next week.
Jive replied to drakey's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
They could always use sky sports news as they do for play offs or Gillette soccer saturday Went through the Tv guides to saturday but no mention ..................... yet. Whilst Trees and Starlady have their annual anti-BSI propaganda agenda whats the betting when in the riders conference did John Posselwaite say to the riders "If we re-stage next saturday will you all be available?" I bet they all stood up and said "Oh no we have got Elite League fixtures we cannot be here" or did they say "Yep we will be here" I'll leave the answers to the rest of you  -
Sweden World Champions 2003!!
Jive replied to Robbo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well done Sweden. At heat 24 all i could see was Adams winning and Ljung finishing last and with Crumpy in the last I could not see the Aussies losing, but it goes to show it's never over til the fat lady sings. I for one was dis-appointed with the track, Ole must spend more time doing these "one-off" tracks that he has obviously forgotten how to prepare a proper track. Ole do yourself a favour and give Huggy at Kings Lynn a ring, he'll do you a decent track in hot weather! As for Great Britain I'm not gonna knock them as no doubt plenty of others will, i'll thank them for getting us to a final but i do feel they were all caught out by the track and just never adapted as quickly to the conditions as the other teams. At the end only Scott proved he is the only one capable of competing and adapting to the track but as Floppy said the track preparer wants burying in the vojens shale! I look forward to next year!
