Something we all hope is true (well Witches fans at least) but if the rumoured 39 points limit is rubber stamped, Brennan won’t fit unless either of Rew or Ellis is left out. A 40 points limit and it’s as you were with Brennan for King. Anyone know the AGM date this year?
-
Mine would be similar to others Doyle (Captain) Rew Ellis Brennan Musielak Dan Thompson Rising Star I don’t think there’s any doubt those at the club want Brennan. Louis is a fan and has been for a few years and very nearly signed him last winter. And Hawkins dropped enough hints yesterday that he’d be a rider they’d like in the team. If he doesn’t end up at Foxhall that will be because he’s already committed to Birmingham next year. I’m more convinced on Musielak if as expected Emil doesn’t return here. Wanted the Ipswich move this year but couldn’t be fitted in. As disappointing as losing Emil would be, when one door closes another opens and you have to take the positives out of it. Musielak goes very well around Foxhall and comes in almost a point lower than Emil which can be used to strengthen other areas of the team.

May as well start this one now. Doyle and six others.

Ipswich vs Leicester play off Semi-final 9th Sept
Aries replied to ShanoXtra's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If Emil hadn’t had such a bad fall there wouldn’t be an issue. The blokes commitment over here isn’t in question. Didn’t miss a single fixture over here last year including the play offs, and wouldn’t have missed any here this season either. But riding here nearly cost his Polish team their star man when they needed him most, they won’t have been best pleased to say the least. There is no way on earth they were going to allow him to do the play offs here this time. -
Either way id say it depends on Ipswich first and foremost whether they want to retain him even as the senior reserve. Jenkins has already publicly shown his gratitude to Louis for standing by him when he feared the axe due to poor early season form. If Louis wants him to stay, I can’t see any way he’d say no thanks and sign for Lynn or anyone else.

This has been discussed already on here last winter. Someone explained the rising star rule and I can’t for the life of me remember who it was, but it was a promoter or manager who said that a rising star who graduated out of the system couldn’t then drop back in it the following year even if his age and average allowed. That was some kind of unwritten rule that they were all aware of. Again though, things may have changed. They’d have already had meetings regarding rules for next year so we’ll have to wait and see.
-
Not sure where you heard that but there is zero chance Ipswich will pursue Rowe.
-
Musielak phoned Louis last winter but Ipswich couldn’t fit him in with Emil and Doyle. He loves the Foxhall track. Can see that one happening this time.

Some of the very best riders in the world over the years cut their teeth and honed their skills on the small technical tracks in the UK. Oxford asset isn’t he? -

They seem to take pride in sticking with what they build over the winter and going with it until the end. It was Louis who made the pick and mix jibes against Sheffield last year, and before the Sheffield lot come on and say it was injuries and wasn’t their fault, they did sack a couple of British riders at the death. I always flip flop on the way we do things here. On one hand I’m a fan and want to see success, but on the other I find it difficult to criticise the way they stand by their riders when they need backing because they’re struggling. Others change their riders more often than they change their underwear, Leicester a prime example. Any neutral who doesn’t have a horse in the race should be backing Ipswich really for the way they do things. -

Agree with this. Especially as we now know Lawson is available because he’s taken a guest booking for Lynn. Ipswich have gone for R/R for how many meetings now? Just how much effort is being put in to giving the fans a seven man team again to watch? On Emil. I think he’ll be back personally. If he doesn’t, it’ll probably be Doyle and Musielak top two. Not too shabby. -
Hasn’t been the same since Doyle was out let alone Emil. Doyle has by far the best home average of any rider in the league the last couple of seasons. Foxhall is his fortress and he’s a joy to watch especially when he misses the gate. Nicholls has done ok covering, but you’re replacing Doyle’s 13’s/14’s/15’s at Ipswich with Nicholls’ 8’s 9’s and 10’s. That change alone is a 10 point swing in team scores on occasions. I’d argue the title aspirations ended back in May! When you build like Ipswich have you just can’t lose either let alone both of your top two because they’re irreplaceable.
-
It’s where he should be though given his talent. We’re talking GP winner here. Earlier this year at Ipswich he gated and won at a canter in his opening ride, missed the gate in his second ride completely but then wound in and took both Emil and Ellis from the back in one of the rides of the season, and we all thought he we go he’s cracked Foxhall now. He then looked like he had it stuck in reverse and score 3 points from his final 3 rides and looked like the Bewley who couldn’t ride the place again. Will be interesting to see how he does this week in his two meetings. Very handy for Belle Vue that he’s getting some practice in before Thursday.
-
In his last half dozen visits to Ipswich, Bewley has scored double figures only once. A 10 point score back in 2021. It’s a strange one with him because by his own admission he actually enjoys riding Foxhall! He said that when interviewed last season. He just can’t seem to get the right set up. He should ask Brady and just copy him! He hits double figures more often than not.
-
If what is acceptable? It’s nothing to do with the way the sport is being run, there’s simply four riders that are injured and can’t ride. It definitely would have made sense to switch the fixture to one that has two full teams if it wasn’t for the contractual obligations.
-
Yeah can see what all you Sheffield fans are doing here, but unfortunately for you nobody is buying it.

Sheffield HAVE to be winning at Ipswich on Monday. They’re running R/R for Woffinden which negates their advantage to a degree, but they’re facing a team who are missing their three heaviest hitters at home. People are underestimating just how good Ellis has been at Foxhall this year. Looking at the 2024 stats, he’s averaged 9.42 at Foxhall. In fact the three missing have home averages of 11.27, 9.65 and 9.42. You’re replacing that with R/R, Troy bloody Batchelor and Bewley who can’t ride the place! Bewley posted his best Foxhall score of 9 for Belle Vue earlier in the season, winning his first two rides before reverting to type.

I don’t think anyone doubts what Emil has said Shano, even to you personally. He’s a determined lad as we all know but he can’t 100% know how long it’s going to take him to be race ready no matter what his intentions are. Woffinden spoke to the red top rag a month ago stating his intention was to return for Cardiff, and even the Ipswich fixture for Sheffield just gone but as we know that hasn’t happened. It thankfully doesn’t seem anywhere near as complicated an injury as Tai’s so nobody would bet against him being ready but the clock is ticking. The sooner he gets stitched up the sooner he can start the healing process. We ideally need him before the play offs and ready for the Cup final! But that’s less than three weeks away now so must be touch and go. We’ll see. -

Ah ok thank you. That makes more sense actually. Waiting for the body to naturally flush out the debris before closing. Must be a pretty deep wound as normally they can flush it out with saline and clean it up there and then. Sore one for sure! -

Operation for what? Doesn’t make sense unless there was another injury that wasn’t disclosed? The post from Emil said no broken bones and just a lacerated @rse cheek so do stitches count as an “operation”? And surely it would have been stitched up as soon as he went to hospital? You don’t lay there for four days with an open wound surely?? More that he’s HOPING to make them rather than stating it as fact no? Having asked Ritchie directly about any time frames for his absence he replied that they just don’t know at the moment. I guess we’ll have to wait until his “operation” has been done before knowing exactly how long he’s out for.. -

Nicholls and Blodorn for Doyle and Sayfutdinov? Crikey. Leicester, Sheffield and Belle Vue will all be smelling blood in the coming weeks. Personally I think it’ll be Nicholls and rider replacement for Leicester. The Sheffield meeting on the Monday is going to be the biggest problem. Only Belle Vue not riding and Nicholls will be on Eurosport duty! So in all likelihood it’ll be Blodorn and R/R for Doyle and Emil LOL. -
Sheffield v Ipswich 8th August
Aries replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If Ipswich don’t finish top it’ll prove the theory wrong that “the team that finishes top deserve it over the season”. Ipswich have been top all season long despite losing Doyle back in May, and battling through an injury crisis mid season where they were missing Doyle, King, Ellis and Thompson all at the same time. Even the most biased fans of rival clubs must concede that Ipswich put together the best 1-7 this year. Doesn’t mean a thing come play offs though of course but it’s still always nice to finish top of the pile. Ipswich only have one away fixture remaining, at Birmingham. Sheffield have two, Belle Vue and King’s Lynn away. There’s currently a 4 point gap at the top so Ipswich SHOULD really see the job through. Both Sheffield and Belle Vue still have to go to Foxhall though and both are capable of winning although neither really came close in the first run of fixtures. -

So we’re “to accept” that Musielak has been riding in this country for many years, for Wolves, Swindon, Sheffield, and been a loyal servant to all his clubs. But by some coincidence he rocks up at the complete circus that is King’s Lynn speedway and suddenly it’s boooo! He’s a bad egg who walks out on his clubs when according to you, someone else shows him a bit of skirt? I notice Bagpuss has been very quiet on this recently but he did hint that he’d “heard” what’s gone on, maybe you’d like to share what you’ve heard Bagpuss?
