Thompson in particular will add a point as an absolute minimum, due to being on a 25% reduction. He’s also back at reserve rather than at number 2. Brennan will be riding in an easier position than he was at Birmingham where let’s be honest, he was carrying the team until Freddie arrived. He won’t get near the 1 or 5 berth with Doyle and Emil in the side. Expecting big improvement from both, as well as Rew. I don’t really understand Col’s point about lack of improvement in Doyle or Emil either. Of course they won’t, and they’re not expected/needed to. They’re points scoring machines, they do what they do at the top of the team on a consistent basis. It’s the younger riders lower down that you want/hope for improvement from, and we have that.

Jury is out on Dan Thompson and Tom Brennan being on an upward trajectory? You’ve gotta be kidding here surely??
-
Must have been a tough decision to choose one of either Vuolas and Tate. I guess the horrible injury would have been a deciding factor? Bit more risky until he proves his fitness maybe.
-
You can double that. It’s Col’s favourite pastime predicting the demise of Doyle every winter. I mean, he’ll be right eventually! It’s been several years now that he predicted Doyle to be demoted to fourth best Aussie behind Kurtz, Fricke and Jack Holder. Think he was adding both of Wright’s Foxhall scores together from this year. He did ride well in those meetings in fairness. No idea why people do this though. It’s impossible to use a riders scores from selected meetings to try and prove what he would have scored in meetings he was missing. Wright has also had some Foxhall shockers.

Shows the strength of the Ipswich team really that in an ideal world, Rew will continue his progression next year in to a bona fide heatleader, meaning either Ellis or King will be the 5th strongest member of the side behind Doyle, Emil, Brennan and Rew. That’s potent. Good reserve pairing also, Jenkins one of the stronger rising Stars and Dan on a 25% reduction and in a reserve berth.

Both at Ipswich.

Not sure of the ins and outs of the situation, but I do know Ipswich didn’t want to use either Rowe or Drew Kemp for the 2023 season. The official line was “we wanted to go down a different path” from the manager. I don’t think all was well between Rowe and the management but I’m not quite sure what happened.
-
He knows that, he’s just fishing for bites.

End of season awards event this Friday. Let’s see if Emil turns up. If he doesn’t, start panicking 😆
-
Of course it is. It’s where they can both be compared fairly because both ride in the same league. Rowe quite clearly isn’t “a million miles ahead of Thompson” in any way shape or form.
-
Dan Thompson didn’t even feature in the championship in 2023 bar two meetings for Birmingham averaging 3.50. 2024, 18 meetings, 7.88. I’d say that’s even greater progression. “By far” LOL. Calm down. “By a mile” LOL. take off your blinkered Lynn spectacles. Agree. What they seem to be ignoring is Dan Thompson this year spent most of this season in the main body of the side, (rising star I might add), Rowe sat in his comfy number 7 berth all year bar the last meeting or two at the end of the season. 0.72 between them. Thompson is also two years younger than Rowe so I’m not sure about the “highest ceiling” either or what that’s based on. Nobody can predict who has a higher ceiling, some riders progress some don’t so it’s all guesswork. The current stats though are there for all to see.
-
Not all about money though. Is in most cases granted, but some riders will take a lower offer if they feel a move elsewhere benefits their careers. Not saying that is the case here mind you.
-
Upwardly mobile. Need to do everything possible to keep him where he is.
-
Has to be more than the numbers because he’s on an average that fits in nicely. Would make no sense to keep Ellis and not retain Rew
-
Might not have any choice. Disappointed if he’s off though because he’s on an average that’s only going north. Would strengthen a rival unfortunately.
-
Wondered why Louis publicly got a bit defensive on Rew towards the end of the season with his “he’s our rider” quip. Thought it was a strange comment to come out with at the time but it now makes sense. Obviously things going on behind the scenes.
-
He has a massive chip on his shoulder when it comes to Ipswich for some unknown reason but try not to bite. He’s also very wrong. Unlike his club that dumps young British riders (Connor Mountain) in a desperate attempt for silverware, Ipswich are well known for being loyal and standing by their riders even at the expense of success on track. There isn’t another club that would have stood by Erik Riss all season long whilst suffering with long term illness which almost certainly contributed to losing the title in 2023.
-
So it’s almost certainly this.. Doyle Rew King or Ellis Brennan Emil Dan Thompson Jenkins Either King or Ellis fits under 40 due to Dan’s 25% reduction. Really isn’t much between them so either or for me, not really fussed. It’s a title winning team either way.

I’m not sure this is the case. Arch works for him or close family so he’ll know. It’s true Tru picked up the sponsorship for a discount from Sackers when they stopped sponsorship. -

We’ve heard this about Flint for the last how many years? He’s simply not progressing at all. -

Going purely off Jenkins’ comments on the Ipswich site, I’d say they almost certainly do have a say. -

Rob Lyon was openly telling supporters he wanted Jenkins at rising star next year. The Lynn fans on here have said as much. There is no way on earth Lynn and Birmingham come to that, have seen Jenkins on the list and gone “nah, we’ll go for these instead” LOL. -
Hope your team is spot on, I just wonder whether they’ll go for exactly the 7 as this year to prove a point? Kind of, this is what would have happened if we’d stayed fit. Still not sure on Brennan, especially now Birmingham have confirmed their intention to run.

Why?

And Ipswich were still clear at the top despite missing Doyle since May. It was the Emil absence which then saw the club win only one (Leicester H in play offs) of the last 10 meeting in League and Cup. The club struggled for guests and used rider replacement in a lot of those meetings also. The teams being put out were way under strength quite frankly. Whether you want to admit it or not, Ipswich were the best team in the league this year and would have finished top, not Sheffield. I’m sorry but that’s undeniable. Is it Sheffields fault? Of course not. You simply took advantage of another club’s misfortune and that’s fair game. We scraped by without one heatleaders, as you did with Woffinden, but losing two killed the season stone dead. As ever though, rather than get all precious about it, you’re completely missing the point of my post unsurprisingly. @szkocjasid Said there was nothing wrong with the strategy of the way you built your team, and used the fact you finished top of the table as evidence that it worked. My point was very simple, that just by glancing at the finished table doesn’t tell the whole story and gives a false sense of achievement because you can’t rely on other clubs losing their whole top end every year. That’s just common sense. If you stick with the same reserve pairing next year you’ll win nothing. It isn’t good enough.
