Glasgow v Edinburgh , Easter Sunday
Aries replied to Weeyin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Looking forward to this one! Think it’ll be close -
Disagree. We all can see he still does well in Poland, it’s the age old problem of what he’d put in here isn’t it. Would you be confident that he’d be giving it 100% in every race and every meeting here like Jason Doyle does for example? I certainly wouldn’t. He may only have done half a lap here but even in that he was left for dead by Doyle and Erik Riss! That’s not exclusive to Pedersen either btw, I’d have the same concerns if Lambert, Dudek etc etc agreed to come over. It keeps getting said over and over, but that’s why Jason Doyle is worth his weight in Platinum over here. He’s pretty much a one off unfortunately when it comes to GP riders.

Now that there’s possibly changes afoot, are we back to speculating about “Flappy’s locks” again??
-
Could have been bigger also if Rew hadn’t made errors whilst leading which cost him points. Ifs buts and maybes. Riss was the biggest factor here, normally good for 7 or 8 at home when fit and healthy rather than the two he managed. That’s a 10+ point swing in the scores and would no doubt have been more comfortable for the Witches. Fair play to him for giving it a go, but in hindsight maybe they should have gone R/R.

Riss was ill according to Hawkins. Could well explain his performance as I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so poor, looked way off the pace which is in contrast to his excellent start to the season for Redcar. I also thought Thompson battled extremely hard. Rew a ropey couple of rides, but much quicker and smoother there after. He and this team will get better as the season goes on. Emil looked like he was riding a rocket ship! An absolute stinker of a gate cost him in his 3rd ride but imperious apart from that. Doyle was also class as expected. Couldn’t believe when I looked at the scorecard to see Fricke’s score! I came away convinced he’d scored 12-13 points! Looked very quick to me and actually looked quicker than Doyle in heat 15 and very nearly passed him. Leicester looked a strong outfit to me. Every pairing that came out looked capable of at least a share of the heats, in most heats heat advantages (apart from 13 and 15 obviously). Think they’re nailed on for top 4 personally. Enjoyed my trip and will return, probably make my way down on the Bank Holiday Monday to see the local derby against Lynn.

Oxford v Poole 5/4/23 BSN Series
Aries replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Shame. Was coming to this but the forecast has put paid to that. Far too risky. -
“Yep exactly,if that was the riding order of ipswich, lions look good, shame it’s off as I was looking forward to the first meeting lions giving them witches a lesson to shut some of these forum warriors up“ This was your little rant on the other Leicester v Ipswich thread so you’re fooling nobody here Spidey old bean. oh, and if the Witches “all fire together” it won’t be a close one at all, it’ll be a thumping home win lol. Can’t see all the Witches firing in their first home meeting anyway so I actually think Leicester will make a decent fist of it. Witches by 6-10 if it goes ahead.

You were trying to convince every man and his dog on here (and probably yourself?) that Worrall was a good signing when he was announced. You even went to the trouble of digging out some of his best scores last year to back up your argument! Now after ONE meeting it seems as though you’re desperate to get rid of him..
-
But again, Buster is entitled to move the goalposts as he’s the owner. Some don’t seem to be able to grasp this. Holder was NEVER getting in a Buster side was he? That isn’t a shock. If Tomalin/Tomlin/Tomilin or however his name is spelt, wants to build his own team then he has to purchase the club from Chapman. It’s very simple.
-
Worrall didn’t have any issues with it when he ignored the “new” white line and rode the same inside line that Pedersen did.

Oxford v Poole 5/4/23 BSN Series

True, but his gating is pretty consistent. You’d bank on him getting to the first bend ahead of Nicholls at least. -
Well it shouldn’t be! It’s ridiculous.

Worrall and Lawson in 15 are more than capable of at least sharing the heat, as I’m sure you’re fully aware. Both can trap with the best of them. -

Coming to this. Hope this rain buggers off! -
Every club has some sort of home advantage, more so than others. But even as a home rider, track conditions can change meeting to meeting and you’d find yourself having to tinker with set ups. Having a practice though a few hours before a meeting is a pi$s take! Shouldn’t be allowed to happen. Makes Ipswich’ win even more impressive even with Pedersen’s absence,, whilst also makes Iversen’s and Worrall’s performances look even worse!!
-
Oh and despite what one or two predicted on here over the winter, I didn’t hear one boo or negative reaction to Sayfutdinov. In fact, the bloke was warmly applauded at the end by the majority or Peterborough supporters who despite being disappointed by defeat, acknowledged class when they saw it which was good to see.
-
It did, but would have been far sooner without the nudge from Iversen that sent Emil in to no man’s land and cost him so much ground which he very quickly made back up again. He was far and away the fastest rider there. Gated poorly in his one defeat and was stone last before making his way through traffic and still almost caught Basso at the end. Thought Emil’s gating was pretty sluggish most of the night with one or two exceptions.

Wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world in my opinion. They’ve already lost a home meeting and I honestly can’t see this side winning anywhere on the road. This team isn’t top 4 material. If Pedersen doesn’t return I’d already look in to tinkering with the make up of the side and make more than one change.

Oxford v Swindon Select - Rescheduled April 19
Aries replied to Grachan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hope not! Planning on attending this and looking forward to it. -
That was as good as his night got. How did he get on in his final two rides? Two third places wasn’t it? As ever, form elsewhere is a poor indicator of form here anyway, Pedersen left for dust in heat 1 before coming a cropper. Bit bizarre to state that based on nationality! Fact is Rew had never seen Peterborough before, all tracks are different and prepared different and yet he scored the same number of points as a seasoned GB rider (Worrall) who has ridden the Showground countless times. After taking a few rides naturally to find the best way around, he wins an important heat for his team beating Basso from the back no less. That was impressive.

Ipswich vs Peterborough 23rd march
Aries replied to Gasser90's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I’d expect a fair few neutrals will be traveling also. Sayfutdinov Pedersen and Doyle all in the one meeting mixing it is something we haven’t seen here in quite a while. I’ve quite a trek so will wait until Thursday morning to get a more accurate forecast as we know it can change on an hourly basis.
